Admission control is a key mechanism to manage the increasing number of the simultaneous demanding services, requiring a desired Quality of Service(QoS) in a spectrum efficient manner. To address this issue,we investigate in this work, the use of the superposition coding technique to increase the system capacity through multiuser diversity exploitation. We propose a novel joint admission control and superposition coding formalism based on different utility functions:Opportunistic(OPSC), Great Fairness(GFSC)and Proportional Fairness(PFSC). Simulation results show the superiority of our proposed approaches over other by providing higher mean of served VoIP users and higher throughput while maintaining an average VoIP packet transmission delay lower than 0.6 ms.

Objective:To assess the effect of oral treatment of methanolic extract of the aerial parts of Astragalus adscendens in streptozotocin-induced diabetic ***:In order to induce diabetes,rats intraperitoneally received streptozotocin at 65 mg/*** adult male Wistar rats were allocated into six groups(10 rats per each)including the healthy control group,the diabetic group as well as the diabetic group treated with Astragalus adscendens methanolic extract at 50,100,and 200 mg/kg per day or glibenclamide(0.6 mg/kg/day)for 28 *** effects of Astragalus adscendens methanolic extract on the levels of glucose,insulin,alanine aminotransferase,alkaline phosphatase,aspartate aminotransferase,bilirubin,creatinine,urea,uric acid,total protein,albumin,triglyceride,cholesterol,α-amylase,oxidant/antioxidant enzymes,and inflammatory cytokines were *** time-PCR was also used for measuring the gene expression of caspase-3,Bcl2,and ***:The levels of glucose,cholesterol,triglyceride,creatinine,urea,uric acid,alanine aminotransferase,aspartate aminotransferase,alkaline phosphatase,bilirubin,and malondialdehyde considerably declined(P<0.001)in diabetic rats after treatment with Astragalus adscendens methanolic extract especially at a dose of 200 mg/*** addition,treatment with Astragalus adscendens methanolic extract noticeably increased the level of insulin,total protein,and albumin as well as improved the activities of catalase,glutathione peroxidase,and superoxide dismutase,as well as the expression levels of TNF-α,IL-1β,caspase-3,Bcl2 and Bax(P<0.001)compared to the diabetic control *** extract also inhibitedα-amylase in a dose-dependent manner with an IC_(50)value of 19.6μg/***:Astragalus adscendens methanolic extract shows potent antidiabetic,anti-inflammatory,anti-apoptotic,and antioxidant effects in diabetic ***,more studies are needed to verify the underlying mechanism of the effect of this plant extract and test its effica

Objective:To assess the response rate of patients with rectal adenocarcinoma to neoadjuvant therapy and to identify the predictors of histological regression after neoadjuvant radiotherapy(RT)or concurrent chemoradiotherapy(CCRT).Methods:This study recruited 64 *** patients had resectable cancer of the lower and the middle rectum(T3/T4 and/or N+)without distant metastasis and received neoadjuvant RT or CCRT followed by radical surgery with total mesorectal excision(TME)between January 2006 and December *** patients were classified into non-response(NR),partial response(PR),and pathologic complete response(p CR)based on the Dworak tumor regression grading ***:The median age of patients was 57 years(ranging from 22 to 85).A total of 24 patients were treated with neoadjuvant CCRT,whereas 40 patients were treated with RT *** resection(APR)was performed on 29 patients(45%).Anterior resection with TME was performed on 34 patients(53%).One patient had local ***,12(19%),24(73%),and 28(44%)patients exhibited p CR,PR,and NR,*** analysis revealed that the predictors of tumor regression were as follows:the absence of lymph node involvement from initial imaging(c N0)(P=0.021);normal initial carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA)level(P=0.01);hemoglobin level≥12 g/dl(P=0.009);CCRT(P=0.021);and tumor downstaging in imaging(P=0.001).Multivariate analysis showed that the main predictors of p CR were CT combined with neoadjuvant RT,c N0stage,and tumor regression on ***:Identifying the predictors of p CR following neoadjuvant therapy aids the selection of responsive patients for nonaggressive surgical treatment and possible surveillance.

In this paper, the authors study the association between firms＇ specific characteristics and performances for a sample of 320 American firms using a governance efficiency index, calculated by the stochastic frontier analysis. The use of a latent class in the specification of the model, allowed detecting two groups of firms according to their specific characteristics： the firm size, the leverage, the dividend yield, and the return on equity （ROE）. The results of affectation equation show that the probability to be in the second group （the most efficient） is more important when the firm size, the dividend yield, and the ROE are high, while a high leverage level decreases the chance to be in the first group （the less efficient）.

This study aims the physico-chemical characterization of surface water of the Bir M＇Cherga reservoir and its effluents which are located in Zaghouan governorate of Tunisia. It required measures in situ of physicochemical parameters and chemical analysis at laboratory of major element and nutritive salts. The results of this study revealed the presence of pollutants in the Miliane river at El Fahs area and the eutrophication of water in the Bit M＇Cherga reservoir. According to the classification of Stuyfzand and Piper, water in the wadis of Melah, Hdada, Miliane and Boudebbane respectively is brackish, salty, extremely hard, chlorinated, sulphated, calcic, and magnesic. Water in the Bir M＇Cherga reservoir is characterized by calcic facies chlorinated sulphated and sodic. Thus, the Bir M＇Cherga reservoir presents a worrying situation and a risk of qualitative degradation of its water.

The good understanding of the mechanisms of resistance to herbicides in weeds is a necessity to implement sustainable weed management strategies. Here, a study was conducted to characterize the molecular bases of resistance to acetyl coenzyme A carboxylase （ACCase） and acetolactate synthase （ALS） inhibiting herbicides in Lolium rigidum populations from Tunisia. Nine Lolium rigidum （ryegrass） populations collected in wheat fields from Northern Tunisia were investigated for their resistance to two ACCase-inhibiting herbicides and an ALS-inhibiting herbicide. All populations were tested in the greenhouse in pots using the commercial dose to determine resistance status. Survival plants were also tested for the presence of two ACCase （L 1781 and N2041） and two ALS （P197 and W574） mutant resistant alleles using molecular markers. Resistance to ACCase-inhibiting herbicides was found in all tested populations. Comparison of the results from herbicide sensitivity bioassays with genotyping indicated that more than 80% of the plants resistant to ACC-inhibiting herbicides would be resistant via increased herbicide metabolism. However, ALS-inhibiting herbicides are still more or less controlling ACCase resistant populations, so indicating that the selection process of resistance is ongoing. Target-site resistance appears to be the major mechanism for these early cases of ALS inhibitor resistance. This study reported the first case of resistance to ALS-inhibiting herbicides in ryegrass in Tunisia, and investigated the molecular bases of this resistance. It establishes the clear importance of non target-site resistance to ACCase- and/or ALS-inhibiting herbicides.

BACKGROUND Blunt abdominal trauma has rarely been reported as a cause of acute appendicitis in the ***,the coexistence of the two conditions can cause issues for the *** present here a systematic review of cases of traumatic appendicitis as well as our own experience with a 12-year-old male *** SUMMARY A 12-year-old male was admitted 3 d after abdominal trauma,experiencing peritoneal syndrome.A pelvic formation was discovered during abdominal ultrasound,and surgical exploration revealed a perforated appendix.A literature review was conducted applying the keywords“appendicitis,”“abdominal,”and“trauma”to the PubMed,Embase,and Medline *** initial search included 529 papers published between 1991 and 2022,of which 33 papers were finally *** revealed 51 reported *** trauma mechanisms included road traffic accidents,falls,assaults,ball accidents,a horse kick,and a *** patients underwent surgical exploration with no prior radiological investigation,and twenty-six patients underwent an initial radiological *** reports indicated a perforated *** Acute traumatic appendicitis represents a diagnostic quandary that can be misdiagnosed resulting in significant morbidity and potential mortality.A high level of suspicion combined with radiological examination may aid in the diagnosis and treatment of this condition.

预测截止到2050年,全球将有三分之二的人口生活聚集在城市,面对日益显现和复杂化的公共健康问题,“基于健康支持的城市设计”成为一种可能。然而,在不可逆的城市化尤其是城市高密度的趋势下,城市建成环境如何影响健康应成为关注的重点。以此为背景,本研究通过解读健康城市内涵并构建城市建成环境对居民健康影响的理论框架,通过分析突尼斯城市建成环境现状特点及不足,从城市形态、土地功能、交通网络、社区设计和自然环境的城市设计策略。这将为突尼斯未来健康城市发展提供理论依据。首先,通过文献梳理和政策解读,从个体的健康行为、健康生活方式和社会凝聚层面解析城市对城市居民健康的影响,并构建城市建成环境对居民健康影响的理论框架;其次,以突尼斯首都突尼斯市为研究对象,通过统计和汇总大量政府数据土地利用、城市结构、城市肌理和道路系统的特征,梳理并提取了突尼斯市的建成环境现状特征;基于此,论文从城市形态设计层面提出综合考虑改善风环境、减少太阳辐射并提升热舒适度的健康支持设计策略;从城市土地利用层面提出土地复合利用、平衡职住用地的健康支持设计策略;从社区设计层面提出打造可步行性友好的设计策略;从城市交通层面提出完善社区慢性系统、公共交通运作高效的城市交通体系设计策略。最后,在突尼斯市“lac3”区域提出建设健康城市的设计方案。本文得到以下研究成果:第一,城市建成环境主要通过城市自然生态环境、影响居民社会凝聚力两个途径影响城市居民健康;第二,突尼斯作为经济、政治、文化中心,依旧存在城市规划与道路使用需求不匹配、城市结构松散、城市用地功能不合理等现象,这些都严重影响城市居民的生活健康和品质;第三,从城市形态、土地利用、城市交通、社区环境、城市自然环境5个方面提出了健康支持的城市设计策略。

Performance Evaluation and Analysis of Switching Algorithms in MIMO-OFDM System with Ideal and Non-Ideal CSI

In this paper we analyzed the bit error rate performance of a switching algorithm between spatial multiplex-ing and diversity for an OFDM MIMO system with ideal channel state information. The effect of channel estimation error was studied and we verified by simulations that the spatial multiplexing outperforms the switching algorithm. Given that the switching algorithm is based on the comparison of the channel matrix Demmel condition number to a threshold, its accuracy is compromised when channel estimation error in-creases. As a first intuitive solution, we proceeded to the adaptation of the threshold, but this didn’t lead to a pertinent improvement for the main reason that channel estimation errors did affect the MIMO techniques which use different constellation. Based on that, we proposed a new estimation technique that improved the bit error rate performance significantly.
