The adsorption and diffusion of F2 molecules on pristine graphene are studied by using first-principles *** the diffusion of F2 from molecular state in gas phase to the dissociative adsorption state on graphene surface, a kinetic barrier is identified, which explains the inertness of graphene in molecular F2 at room temperature, and its reactivity with F2 at higher temperatures. Study of the diffusion of F2 molecules on graphene surface determines the energy barrier along the optimal diffusion pathway, which conduces to the understanding of the high stability of fluorographene.

Numerical simulation of the mixed convection induced by buoyancy, crystal rotation, and also unbalanced surface tension at the melt-gas interface is conducted by means of the finite volume method in the model of the Czochralski crystal growth. The role of Marangoni convection in the heat and mass transfer is investigated by the comparison of the models with and without surface tension included, and our results indicate that Marangoni convection plays an important role in the heat and mass transfer near the interface of melt and crystal, and also the convection structure.

Benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH)is a condition that greatly affects the quality of life of middle-aged and elderly ***,hyperplastic changes frequently occur in the prostate tissue of elderly men,the incidence of which has been reported to reach approximately 80% in men in their *** clinical practice,approximately 25% of men with histologic BPH are assumed to experience lower urinary tract symptoms(LUTS)and receive some kind of *** other words,there are some men with histologic BPH who do not exhibit *** that reason,many factors,such as the change in hormonal environment,the immune or autoimmune response,the alteration of gene expression,and so on,are thought to affect the onset and progression of LUTS in men with histologic *** such factor that has long drawn attention is the presence of asymptomatic histological inflammation,which very often accompanies symptomatic *** studies have suggested that asymptomatic histological inflammation causes repeated destruction,healing,and regeneration of the prostate tissue,leading to the enlargement of prostatic nodules,while at the same time causing stromal tissuepredominant remodeling of the prostate tissue,which can increase urination resistance and result in the condition changing from asymptomatic BPH to symptomatic *** future,the biomolecular clarification of the significance of asymptomatic histological inflammation in the prostate tissue could help develop new treatment strategies for BPH accompanied by LUTS.

This paper presents a technique for controlling the pressure of a molten metal when using a new type of iron casting method called sand mold press casting to realize high productivity and obtain high-quality *** past test results using this method showed a casting yield of 90% to 95%,while conventional methods only show a casting yield of 60% to 70%.Although the press casting method does not require a sprue cup or runner channel casting defects such as metal penetration are often caused by the high pressure in the high-velocity pressing part of this casting ***,we proposed a pressure control method with a mathematical model of molten metal pressure,and with it we achieved experimental confirmation of the successful production of brake drums at different pressing *** show that the proposed pressing control method can realize sound,penetration-free casting ***,the theoretical analysis and design of this pressing process had not previously been studied sufficiently,and therefore this paper presents the theoretical design algorithm for the process as well as its experimental confirmation.

Comparison of decompression tubes with metallic stents for the management of right-sided malignant colonic obstruction

BACKGROUND Emergency surgical resection is a standard treatment for right-sided malignant colonic obstruction; however, the procedure is associated with high rates of mortality and morbidity. Although a bridge to surgery can be created to obviate the need for emergency surgery, its effects on long-term outcomes and the most practical management strategies for right-sided malignant colonic obstruction remain *** To determine the appropriate management approach for right-sided malignant colonic *** Forty patients with right-sided malignant colonic obstruction who underwent curative resection from January 2007 to April 2017 were included in the *** compared the perioperative and long-term outcomes of patients who received bridges to surgery established using decompression tubes and those created using self-expandable metallic stents(SEMS). The primary outcome was the overall survival duration(OS) and the secondary endpoints were the diseasefree survival(DFS) duration and the preoperative and postoperative morbidity rates. Analysis was performed on an intention-to-treat *** There were 21 patients in the decompression tube group and 19 in the SEMS group. There were no significant differences in the perioperative morbidity rates of the two groups. The OS rate was significantly higher in the decompression tube group than in the SEMS group(5-year OS rate; decompression tube 79.5%,SEMS 32%, P = 0.043). Multivariate analysis revealed that the bridge to surgery using a decompression tube was significantly associated with the OS(hazard ratio, 17.41; P = 0.004). The 3-year DFS rate was significantly higher in thedecompression tube group than in the SEMS group(68.9% vs 45.9%; log-rank test,P = 0.032). A model in which a river model was layered on a distributed model （double-layered model） was developed to analyse the transport of water and pollutants （nitrogen, phosphorus, and BOD as organic matter） in watersheds and rivers. The model was applied to the watershed of Abragafuchi Lake, Japan, where serious water pollution has occurred over three decades, and the applicability of the model was demonstrated. Scenarios of recycling of sewage treated-water into agriculture to reduce pollutant load discharged into the lake were analysed. The results showed that irrigating paddy fields with the sewage-treated water could contribute to conserving water and reducing pollutant load, with reduction rate in BOD, nitrogen, and phosphorus ranging from 6%-36%, 16%-46%, and 18%-51%, respectively. Particularly, the results indicated that, irrigating paddy fields with the treated water during non-cropping periods and the accompanying reduction in withdrawn water from the river were more effective in reducing pollutant loads discharged into the lake. Further study is required on the effect of recycled water on crop cultivation and soil conditions for safe implementation.
