Remarkable attention has been directed to Prussian blue(PB) and its analogues(PBA) as one of the most widely used metal-organic frameworks(MOFs) especially in the field of energy storage devices due to their fabulous features such as 3D open framework, high surface area, controllable distribution of pores and the low cost. Nevertheless, their depressed conductivity causes some insulation when being used as an electrode for supercapacitors leading to be restricted in further applications particularly the electronics. To the best of our knowledge, our review aimed primarily to give a total picture of the research that was done on utilizing PB and PBA for fabricating the electrodes of supercapacitor, studying their synthesis approaches in addition to the hybridization with other materials such as graphene, CNTs and conducting polymer. It also addresses the transformation of PB or PBA into other interesting nanostructures such as oxides, sulfides, and bicomponent of graphitic carbon nitride/metal oxides, as well. Furthermore,It exhibits various avenues for overcoming their disadvantages of bad cycle life, retention rate and not achieving the desired values of energy/power densities opening the door for enlarging the number of researches on their application as supercapacitors.

Flexible and disposable paper-based gas sensor using reduced graphene oxide/chitosan composite

Comparison of numerical codes for coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical simulations of fractured media

Geo-energy and geo-engineering applications,such as improved oil recovery(IOR),geologic carbon storage,and enhanced geothermal systems(EGSs),involve coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical(THM)processes that result from fluid injection and *** some cases,reservoirs are highly fractured and the geomechanical response is controlled by ***,fractures should explicitly be included into numerical models to realistically simulate the THM responses of the *** this study,we perform coupled THM numerical simulations of water injection into naturally fractured reservoirs(NFRs)using CODE_BRIGHT and TOUGH-UDEC ***_BRIGHT is a finite element method(FEM)code that performs fully coupled THM analysis in geological media and TOUGH-UDEC sequentially solves coupled THM processes by combining a finite volume method(FVM)code that solves nonisothermal multiphase flow(TOUGH2)with a distinct element method(DEM)code that solves the mechanical problem(UDEC).First,we validate the two codes against a semi-analytical solution for water injection into a single deformable fracture considering variable permeability based on the cubic ***,we compare simulation results of the two codes in an idealized conceptual model that includes one horizontal fracture and in a more realistic model with multiple *** code models fractures *** calculates fracture deformation from the fracture normal and shear stiffnesses,while CODE_BRIGHT treats fractures as equivalent porous media and uses the equivalent Young’s modulus and Poisson’s ratio of the ***,we obtain comparable results of pressure,temperature,stress and displacement distributions and evolutions for the single horizontal fracture *** some similarities,the two codes provide increasingly different results as model complexity *** differences highlight the challenging task of accurately modeling coupled THM processes in fractured media given their high nonlineari

Gumiganghwal-tang is a traditional herbal medicine widely used for its anti-inflammatory,analgesic,and antipyretic ***,the safety and efficacy of its active ingredients based on an in vivo pharmacokinetic(PK)study have yet been *** have established a sensitive and accurate UPLC-ESI-MS/MS method and conducted a PK study on 14 constituents of Gumiganghwal-tang through human plasma *** conditions were optimized according to the physicochemical properties of the 14 compounds to facilitate efficient separation and eliminate overlap or interference between ***-C18 and Inertsil-C8 columns were used as UPLC stationary phases,and acetonitrile and aqueous formic acid were used as mobile *** the analytes were quantified with a triple quadrupole mass spectrometer using electrospray ionization in multiple reaction monitoring *** chromatograms of 14 bioactive compounds showed excellent elution and sensitivity,and each peak was selectively separated and quantified without interference with each other or *** established analytical method was based on international guidelines and was successfully used to perform PK studies of 14 herbal ingredients in humans after oral administration with Gumiganghwal-tang *** oral absorption of most active components of Gumiganghwal-tang was relatively rapid and remained considerably long in the body to be quantified in plasma up to 48 h after administration.

Discriminative subgraphs for discovering family photos

We propose to use discriminative subgraphs to discover family photos from group photos in an efficient and effective way. Group photos are represented as face graphs by identifying social contexts such as age, gender, and face position. The previous work utilized bag-of-word models and considered frequent subgraphs from all group photos as features for classification. This approach, however, produces numerous subgraphs, resulting in high ***, some of them are not *** solve these issues, we adopt a state-of-the-art,frequent subgraph mining method that removes nondiscriminative subgraphs. We also use TF-IDF normalization, which is more suitable for the bag-ofword model. To validate our method, we experiment in two datasets. Our method shows consistently better performance, higher accuracy in lower feature dimensions, compared to the previous method. We also integrate our method with the recent Microsoft face recognition API and release it in a public website.

IMPROVING THE ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE OF FISH-FARMING HOUSES:A COMPARATIVE PASSIVE DESIGN STUDY IN SOUTH KOREA

Aquaculture in South Korea largely involves crudely-built plastic fishery houses that consume excessive electricity and produce carbon *** study explores a potential method to make Korean aquaculture more sustainable by suggesting design alternatives that can save energy and *** this end,the authors compare the energy use and indoor environments of three different designs through field *** three designs include(i)a triple-layered plastic screen house(Design 1),(ii)an insulated vault house(Design 2),and(iii)a passive-house design(Design 3),in addition to(iv)a single-layered plastic house(baseline).Our findings indicate that,compared to the baseline,operational electricity was reduced to 57.81% in Design 1,53.92% in Design 2,and 40.59% in Design ***,Designs 2 and 3 were able to mitigate indoor temperature fluctuations in *** 1 showed a relatively unstable temperature distribution during the night but offered better farming conditions than the *** often rose to 100% but did not affect the maintenance of a desirable fish and workplace *** a high concentration of carbon dioxide of up to 3,000 ppm in Designs 1 and 2 was not expected to harm farmers’*** analyses revealed that construction expenses increased to 20.9% in Design 1,135.8% in Design 2,and 73.9% in Design 3 due to large quantities of materials and *** trade-offs with energy saving,the payback period is 7.2 years for Design 1,35.5 years for Design 2,and 17.9 years for Design *** that the lifetime expectancy of Designs 1 and 3 is over two years,the study’s results confirm that Designs 1 and 3 have a comparative advantage in producing sustainable fish-farming houses.

Modeling and Design of H-Infinity Controller for Piezoelectric Actuator LIPCA

We proposed a dynamic model identification and design of an H-Infinity （i.e.H） controller using a LightweightPiezo-Composite Actuator （LIPCA）.A second-order dynamic model was obtained by using input and output data, and applyingan identification *** identified model coincides well with the real *** reduce the resonating mode that istypical of piezoelectric actuators, a notch filter was used.A feedback controller using the Hcontrol scheme was designed basedon the identified dynamic model; thus, the LIPCA can be easily used as an actuator for biomemetic applications such as artificialmuscles or macro/micro positioning in *** control algorithm was implemented using a microprocessor, analogfilters, and power amplifying *** simulation and experimental results demonstrate that the proposed control algorithmworks well in real environment, providing robust performance and stability with uncertain disturbances.

Efficient and secure source authentication scheme for multicast user authentication

Multicast technology application has been widely utilized in broadband internet. Source authentication is one of the most needs for many multicast applications transferring real-time information such as stream video and online news. Because multicast current services provided to the group members are changed dynamically, data transferring by a group member is not used by the recipient. In order to verify the identity of the sender who sent the packet and to make sure that the data have not been tampered, an optimized source authentication scheme has been proposed to transfer the authentication information not to the next-door packet. The proposed method for multiple packets authenticates the source with a limited number of electronic signatures. The proposed method can reduce overhead compared to the method by adding a digital signature for every packet. In addition, by sending the generated electronic signature to the first packet and the last packet, it prevents the loss of consecutive packets, as well as a source authentication can be provided in real-time services.
