Miniaturized fluorescence imaging systems are promising platforms that overcome the limited use of conventional microscopes in the biomedical ***,there are physical limitations for multicolor fluorescence imaging in existing miniaturized imaging systems because multiple filters have to be integrated into a small ***,we present a miniaturized multicolor fluorescence imaging system integrated with single polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS)light-guide plate(LGP)for multicolor fluorescence *** PDMS LGP allows guiding the transmitted light from the light source only to the fluorescent samples regardless of the wavelength of the light ***,our system is capable of multicolor fluorescence imaging without multiple filters that block the excitation *** demonstrated the usability of our system in the biomedical field by observing green-and red-labeled cells in the *** proposed system can be used in a wide range of applications for studies that require multicolor fluorescence imaging in the biomedical field.

Numerical simulation of a short flexible pipe subject to forced motion and vortex-induced vibration

A series of numerical sinmlations about a small scale （aspect ratio： 63.2） flexible pipe undergoing forced harmonious oscillation and vortex-induced vibration （VIV） have been taken into account. The wake hydrodynamics and pipe deformation were accomplished by ANSYS MFX solution strat- egy designed for fluid-structure interaction （FSI） problem with well-performed LES model. The configuration of structured mesh, multi-domain design, different mesh stiffness admeasured by User Fortran ensured that the numerical task was competent to deal with large deformation related to this case. The introduction of instantaneous amplitude definition and modeless component decom- position method （Chen and Kim, 2008） was helpful to reveal much more information from modal analysis. Most results from numerical simulation are generally consistent with those from model test （choi and Hong, 2000） via the comparison between them. As supplementary to model test, visualization of the vortex wake was also provided. It has been proved that the forced oscillation doesn＇t only excite a complicated dumbbell-like wake pattern around the outer thimble, but also results in inner flow inside the PVC pipe. The velocity of the inner flow increases with the frequency of forced oscillation.

LAME:Layout-Aware Metadata Extraction Approach for Research Articles

The volume of academic literature,such as academic conference papers and journals,has increased rapidly worldwide,and research on metadata extraction is ***,high-performing metadata extraction is still challenging due to diverse layout formats according to journal *** accommodate the diversity of the layouts of academic journals,we propose a novel LAyout-aware Metadata Extraction(LAME)framework equipped with the three characteristics(e.g.,design of automatic layout analysis,construction of a large meta-data training set,and implementation of metadata extractor).In the framework,we designed an automatic layout analysis using PDF *** on the layout analysis,a large volume of metadata-separated training data,including the title,abstract,author name,author affiliated organization,and keywords,were automatically ***,we constructed a pre-trainedmodel,Layout-Meta BERT,to extract the metadata from academic journals with varying layout *** experimental results with our metadata extractor exhibited robust performance(Macro-F1,93.27%)in metadata extraction for unseen journals with different layout formats.

Effective shape-controlled growth of monolayer MoS2 flakes by powder-based chemical vapor deposition

In the recent years, transition-metal dichalcogenides such as MoS2 have attracted considerable attention owing to their unique structure and electronic properties. Chemical vapor deposition （CVD） is a popular method for producing MoS2 flakes with different shapes. Here, we report an effective method for achieving a broad range of shape evolution in CVD-grown monolayer MoS2 flakes. By controlling the S and MoO3 temperatures, the shape of the monolayer MoS2 flakes was varied from hexagonal to triangular via intermediate shapes such as truncated and multi-apex triangles. The shape evolution of the MoS2 flakes can be explained by introducing the term “nominal Mo：S ratio”, which refers to the amount of loaded MoO3 and evaporated S powders. By using the nominal Mo：S ratio, we predicted the potential reaction atmosphere and effectively controlled the actual proportion of MoO3-x with respect to S in the growth region, along with the growth temperature. From the systematic investigation of the behavior of the shape evolution, we developed a shape-evolution diagram, which can be used as a practical guide for producing CVD-grown MoS2 flakes with desired shapes

High-throughput volumetric adaptive optical imaging using compressed time-reversal matrix

System reliability analysis of downstream spillways based on collapse of upstream spillways

Some agricultural reservoirs in South Korea are vulnerable to situations in which they are unable to function as reservoirs because of essential safety *** is because 70%of existing agricultural reservoirs were originally constructed more than 50 years ago;most of these reservoirs have not been maintained or managed since their initial *** the worst cases,reservoirs are connected to one another by short distances and/or the sizes of upstream reservoirs are larger than the sizes of downstream *** components of the reservoirs,such as their embankments,spillways,and water intake facilities,have been considered in order to understand the main factors associated with potential reservoir ***,this study aims to estimate the probability of failure in downstream spillways upon the collapse of upstream spillways(for reservoirs connected in series).A simple equation to calculate the rise in the water level in downstream spillways,which is caused by the collapse of upstream spillways,was *** equation was based on the discharge equation of an overflowing rectangular weir and the scaling law for continuous *** verify the proposed simple equation,the water level increments were compared with the simulated results of the commercial software FLOW-3D,which is an accurate computational fluid dynamics(CFD)program that is used for tracking free-surface *** values predicted through the simple formula were close to the simulated data(within a maximum prediction error of 5%).The values were updated to reflect the effects of hydraulic pressures on the walls of downstream spillways,thereby allowing the failure probabilities(due to overturning,sliding,and settlement)of the downstream spillways to be *** study found that the failure probabilities of independent components in reservoirs are significantly different from the systematic failure values observed in sequential modes.

Flexible logic circuits and memory with ultra-low static power consumption are in great demand for battery-powered flexible electronic systems. Here, we show that a flexible nonvolatile logic-in-memory circuit enabling normally-off computing can be implemented using a poly（1,3,5-trivinyl-l,3,5-trimethyl cyclotrisiloxane）（pV3D3）-based memristor array. Although memristive logic-in-memory circuits have been previously reported, the requirements of additional components and the large variation of memristors have limited demonstrations to simple gates within a few operation cycles on rigid substrates only. Using memristor-aided logic （MAGIC） architecture requiring only memristors and pV3D3-memristor with good uniformity on a flexible substrate, for the first time, we experimentally demonstrated our implementation of MAGIC-NOT and -NOR gates during multiple cycles and even under bent conditions. Other functions, such as OR, AND, NAND, and a half adder, are also realized by combinations of NOT and NOR gates within a crossbar array. This research advances the development of novel computing architecture with zero static power consumption for battery- powered flexible electronic systems.

BACKGROUND A large ganglionic cyst extending from the hip joint to the intrapelvic cavity through the sciatic notch is a rare space-occupying lesion associated with compressive lower-extremity neuropathy.A cyst in the pelvic cavity compressing the intrapelvic-sciatic nerve is easily missed in the diagnostic process because it usually presents as atypical symptoms of an extraperitoneal-intrapelvic *** present a case of a huge ganglionic cyst that was successfully excised laparoscopically and endoscopically by a gynecologist and an orthopedic *** SUMMARY A 52-year-old woman visited our hospital complaining of pain and numbness in her left buttock while *** pain began 3 years ago and worsened,while the numbness in the left lower extremity lasted 1 *** was diagnosed and unsuccessfully treated at several tertiary referral centers many years *** resonance imaging revealed a suspected paralabral cyst(5 cm×5 cm×4.6 cm)in the left hip joint,extending to the pelvic cavity through the greater sciatic *** CA-125 and CA19-9 tumor marker levels were within normal ***,the cyst was compressing the sciatic ***,endoscopic and laparoscopic neural decompression and mass excision were performed simultaneously.A laparoscopic examination revealed a tennis-ball-sized cyst filled with gelatinous liquid,stretching deep into the hip *** excisional biopsy performed in the pelvic cavity and deep gluteal space confirmed the accumulation of ganglionic cysts from the hip joint into the extrapelvic intraperitoneal *** Intra-or extra-sciatic nerve-compressing lesion should be considered in cases of sitting pain radiating down the ipsilateral lower *** large juxta-articular ganglionic cyst was successfully treated simultaneously using laparoscopy and arthroscopy.

Numerical Visualization of Air Intake Induced by Free Surface Vortex

Free surface vortex control is vital in a pump sump system because the air absorbed by free surface vortex induc- es noise, vibration, and cavitation corrosion on the pumping system. In this study, the change of free surface vor- tex and air absorption in a pump intake has been investigated by the Volume of Fraction （VOF） method with steady multiphase flow model in order to represent the behavior of the free surface vortex exactly. The homoge- neous free surface model is used to apply interactions of air and water. The results show that air intake by the free surface vortex motion can be visualized using the iso-surface of air volume fraction. The vortices make an air column from the free surface to the pump intake. Also, it was found that the flee surface vortex can be controlled by installing curtain walls.
