Various redox-active organic molecules can serve as ideal electrode materials to realize sustainable energy storage systems. Yet, to be more appropriate for practical use, considerable architectural engineering of an ultrathick, high-loaded organic electrode with reliable electrochemical performance is of crucial importance. Here, by utilizing the synergetic effect of the non-covalent functionalization of highly conductive non-oxidized graphene flakes (NOGFs) and introduction of mechanically robust cellulose nanofiber (CNF)-intermingled structure, a very thick (≈ 1 mm), freestanding organic nanohybrid electrode which ensures the superiority in cycle stability and areal capacity is reported. The well-developed ion/electron pathways throughout the entire thickness and the enhanced kinetics of electrochemical reactions in the ultrathick 5,10-dihydro-5,10-dimethylphenazine/NOGF/CNF (DMPZ-NC) cathodes lead to the high areal energy of 9.4 mWh·cm−2 (= 864 Wh·kg−1 at 158 W·kg−1). This novel ultrathick electrode architecture provides a general platform for the development of the high-performance organic battery electrodes.

Plants exhibit an astonishing ability to regulate organ regeneration upon *** of leaf explants promotes the biosynthesis of indole-3-acetic acid(IAA),which is polar-transported to excised regions,where cell fate transition leads to root founder cell specification to induce de novo root *** regeneration capacity of plants has been utilized to develop in vitro tissue culture ***,we report that IAA accumulation near the wounded site of leaf explants is essential for callus formation on 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid(2,4-D)-rich callus-inducing medium(CIM).Notably,a high concentration of 2,4-D does not compensate for the action of IAA because of its limited efflux;rather,it lowers IAA biosynthesis via a negative feedback mechanism at an early stage of in vitro tissue culture,delaying callus *** auxin negative feedback loop in CIM-cultured leaf explants is mediated by an auxin-inducible APETALA2 transcription factor,ENHANCER OF SHOOT REGENERATION 2(ESR2),along with its interacting partner HISTONE DEACETYLASE 6(HDA6).The ESR2–HDA6 complex binds directly to,and removes the H3ac mark from,the YUCCA1(YUC1),YUC7,and YUC9 loci,consequently repressing auxin biosynthesis and inhibiting cell fate transition on 2,4-D-rich *** findings indicate that negative feedback regulation of auxin biosynthesis by ESR2 and HDA6 interferes with proper cell fate transition and callus initiation.

HANbIT is a magnetic mirror confinement device. Recent physics experimentshave been mainly focused on identifying discharge characteristics and on getting stable plasmaproduction and operation modes, by using a 500 kW slot antenna system at a fixed RF frequency of 3.5MHz and varying discharge conditions such as fueling rate, RF power, and b-field intensity incentral cell. Two distinct operation modes are found to be very sensitive to the RF power as well asthe ratio of the RF frequency to the ion cyclotron frequency. A MHD interchange mode of m = - 1 isclearly observed and the stabilizing mechanism can be explained by the sideband coupling theory.

bACkGROUND Primary non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma of the frontal sinus is extremely *** addition,Epstein-barr virus(EbV)has been reported to play a role in the development of human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)-related malignant *** the best of our knowledge,there is no report for the HIVassociated,EbV-positive primary diffuse large b-cell lymphoma(DLbCL)in the frontal *** SUMMARY We present a unique case of HIV-associated,EbV-positive DLbCL in the frontal sinus in a 46-year-old *** tomography of paranasal sinuses revealed dense opacification of the right frontal sinus with combined soft tissue *** on the clinical and radiological findings,the initial diagnosis was complicated frontal sinusitis,presenting Pott’s puffy ***,HIV testing was positive on preoperative laboratory test,and the frontal sinus lesion was confirmed as EbV-positive DLbCL on *** Through this article,we suggest that EbV-positive DLbCL should be considered as possible diagnosis for patients with nonspecific space-occupying lesion of the paranasal *** also highlight an importance of clinical suspicion in diagnosing HIV infection because HIV serology is not routinely tested in patients with paranasal sinus problem.

Earth-abundant copper and iron-mixed oxide（CuO/CuFeO_2; CFO） film electrodes are synthesized using an electrochemical deposition（ED） technique at two different ED potentials（-0.36 and-0.66 V vs saturated calomel electrode（SCE）; denoted as ED-1 and ED-2, respectively）. Then, their surface morphologies are compared, and the photo（electro）catalytic activities for the reduction of Cr（VI） are examined in aqueous solutions at pH 7 under simulated sunlight（AM 1.5 G; 100 mW cm（-2））. The degree of the electrical potential applied to the ED process significantly affects the thickness of the synthesized electrode film and the intensity ratio of the diffraction peaks of CuO（111） and CuFeO_2（012）. A 200 μm thick ED-2 sample with a distinct stacking of CuO on CuFeO_2 exhibits a larger broadband absorption spectrum than the 50-μm thick ED-1 with less separate stacking. Furthermore, the ED-2 sample has a higher intensity ratio of the diffraction peaks of CuO（111） and CuFe02（012） than ED-1. As-synthesized ED-2 samples produce larger photocurrents, leading to faster Cr（VI） reduction on the surface under given potential bias（-0.5 V vs SCE）or bias-free conditions. The energy levels（i.e., flatband potential） for the two samples are almost the same（only 10 mV difference）, presumably supposing that the enhanced photoactivity of the ED-2 sample for Cr（VI） reduction is due to the facilitated charge transfer. The time-resolved photoluminescence emission spectra analysis reveal that the lifetime（r） of the charge carriers in the ED-1 sample is 0.103 ns, which decreases to 0.0876 ns in the ED-2. The ED-2 sample synthesized at a high negative potential is expected to contribute greatly to the application of other solar-to-fuel energy conversion fields as a highly efficient electrode material.

AIM： To investigate the anti-cancer mechanisms of korean mistletoe lectin （Viscum album coloratura agglutinin, VCA） using a human colon cancer cell line （COLO）. METHODS： Cytotoxic effects of VCA on COLO cells were determined by 3-（4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl）-2,5- diphenyltetrazolium bromide （MTI-） assay in vitro and tumor-killing effects in vivo. To study the mechanisms involved, the expression of various pro-caspases, anti- apoptotic proteins, and death receptors was determined by western blot. To determine which death receptor is involved in VCA-induced apoptosis of COLO cells, cytotoxicity was examined by MTT assay after treatment with agonists or antagonists of death receptors. RESULTS： VCA killed COLO cells in a time- and dosedependent manner and induced complete regression of tumors in nude mice transplanted with COLO cells. Treatment of COLO cells with VCA activated caspase-2, -3, -8, and -9 and decreased expression of anti-apoptotic molecules including receptor interacting protein, nuclear factor-κb, X-linked inhibitor of apoptosis protein, and Akt/protein kinase b. We then examined the involvement of death receptors in VCA-induced apoptosis. Only tumor necrosis factor receptor 1, among the death receptors examined, was involved in apoptosis of COLO cells, evidenced by inhibition of VCA-induced apoptosis and decreased activation of caspases, particularly caspase-8, by tumor necrosis factor receptor 1 antagonizing ***： VCA-induced apoptotic COLO cell death is due to the activation of caspases and inhibition of antiapoptotic proteins, in part through the tumor necrosis factor receptor 1 signaling pathway.

AIM： Many cirrhotic patients have muscular symptoms and rhabdomyolysis. However, myopathy associated with liver cirrhosis has not been established as a disease entity. We evaluated the clinical significance of acute myopathy associated with liver cirrhosis. METHODS： We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of 5440 cirrhotic patients who had been admitted to Gyeongsang National University Hospital from August 1997 to January 2003. Among these, 99 developed acute myopathies, and they were analyzed with respect to clinical and laboratory parameters, and outcomes. RESULTS： The Child-Pugh classification at the time of myopathy onset was A in 3（3.1%） cases, b in 33（33.3%）, and C in 63 （63.6%）. Infection was identified as the most predisposing factor to myopathy. Fifty percent of 18 idiopathic cases who were tested for influenza antibody were positive. Forty-two of the 99 cases were complicated by acute renal failure, and 25 （59.5%） of these expired. Apart from 6 cases lost to follow-up, 64 of 93 recovered, giving a mortality rate of 31.2%. Mortality was higher in Child-Pugh class C than in b or A. CONCLUSION： Acute myopathy can develop as a serious complication in liver cirrhosis. Its frequency, severity and mortality depend on underlying liver function, and are higher in decompensated liver cirrhosis. Influenza should be considered as an etiologic factor in idiopathic cases. It is proposed that acute myopathy associated with liver cirrhosis be called ＇hepatic myopathy; and that careful monitoring for hepatic myopathy is necessary in the patients with advanced liver cirrhosis.

Efficient extraction of light from a high refractive index silicon waveguide out of a chip is difficult to *** inverse design approach was employed using the particle swarm optimization method to attain a vertical emitting meta-grating coupler with high coupling efficiency in a 220-nm-thick silicon-on-insulator *** carefully selecting the figure of merit and appropriately defining parameter space,unique L-shape and U-shape grating elements that boosted the out-of-plane radiation of light were *** addition,a 65.7%(-1.82 db)outcoupling efficiency and a 60.2%(-2.2 db)fiber-to-chip vertical coupling efficiency with an 88 nm 3 db bandwidth were demonstrated by numerical *** fabrication constraints,the optimized complex meta-grating coupler was modified to correspond to two etching steps and was then fabricated with a complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor-compatible *** modified meta-grating coupler exhibited a simulated coupling efficiency of 57.5%(-2.4 d b)with a 74 nm 3-db bandwidth in the C-band and an experimentally measured coupling efficiency of 38%(-4.2 db).
