c.mmissioning of the TrueBeam STx 6 MV FFF Beam in the RayStation Treatment Planning System for SRS and SBRT Treatments

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to provide tec.nic.l information on c.mmissioning the TrueBeam STx 6 MV flattening-filter free (FFF) beam in the RayStation treatment planning system (TPS) for stereotac.ic.radiosurgery (SRS) and stereotac.ic.body radiation therapy (SBRT) treatments. Methods: For beam modeling, perc.nt depth dose c.rves, profiles and output fac.ors for jaw-c.llimated fields and stereotac.ic.c.nes as well as X-jaws transmission were measured. For multi-leaf c.llimator (MLc. modeling, MLc.model parameters suc. as offset, gain, c.rvature, leaf tip width, tongue and groove and transmission were determined and output fac.ors for MLc.c.llimated fields were measured. Absolute dose c.libration was also performed. For beam model and MLc.model validation, the Americ.n Assoc.ation of Physic.sts in Medic.ne Task Group-119 plans, c.inic.l SRS and SBRT plans and end-to-end testing were performed. Results: Beam c.arac.eristic. of the 6 MV FFF beam agreed well with those in the literature. Validation results showed that our beam model and MLc.model were ac.eptable for SRS and SBRT treatments. c.nc.usions: The tec.nic.l information and dosimetric.data provided in this study will be a useful referenc. for other c.inic./institutions whic. will c.mmission the same mac.ine energy in the RayStation TPS.

c.mparison of Multimodality Image-Based Volumes in Prec.inic.l Tumor Models Using <i>In-Air</i>Mic.o-c. Image Volume as Referenc. Tumor Volume

Purpose: c.anges in tumor volume are used for therapy response monitoring in prec.inic.l studies. Unlike prior studies, this artic.e introduc.s in-air mic.o-c.mputed tomography (mic.o-c.) image volume as referenc. tumor volume in rodent tumor models. Tumor volumes determined using imaging modalities suc. as magnetic.resonanc. imaging (MRI), mic.o-c. and ultrasound (US), and with an external c.liper are c.mpared with the referenc. tumor volume. Materials and Methods: In vivo MR, US and mic.o-c. imaging was performed 4, 6, 9, 11 and 13 days after tumor c.ll inoc.lation into nude rats. On the day of the imaging study, in vivo c.liper measurements were also made. After in vivo imaging, tumors were exc.sed followed by in-air mic.o-c. imaging and ex vivo c.liper measurements of exc.sed tumors. The in-air mic.o-c. image volume of exc.sed tumors was determined as referenc. tumor volume. Then tumor volumes were c.lc.lated using formula V = (π/6) × a × b × c. where a, b and c.are maximum diameters in three perpendic.lar dimensions determined by the three image modalities and c.liper, and c.mpared with referenc. tumor volume by linear regression analysis as well as Bland-Altman plots. Results: The c.rrelation c.effic.ents (R2) of the regression lines for in vivo tumor volumes measured by the three imaging modalities were 0.9939, 0.9669 and 0.9806 for MRI, US and mic.o-c. respec.ively. For c.liper measurements, the c.effic.ents were 0.9274 and 0.9819 for c.liperin vivo and c.liperex vivo respec.ively. In Bland-Altman plots, the average of tumor volume differenc. from referenc. tumor volume (bias) was signific.nt for c.liper and mic.o-c., but not for MRI and US. c.nc.usion: Using the in-air mic.o-c. image volume as referenc. tumor volume, tumor volume measured by MRI was the most ac.urate among the three imaging modalities. In vivo c.liper volume measurements showed unreliability while ex vivo c.liper measurements reduc.d errors.
