A Li_(3)P nanoparticle dispersion strengthened ultrathin Li metal electrode for high energy density rechargeable batteries

Achievement of lithium(Li)metal anode with thin thickness(e.g.,≤30µm)is highly desirable for rechargeable high energy density ***,the fabrication and application of such thin Li metal foil electrode remain challenging due to the poor mechanical processibility and inferior electrochemical performance of metallic ***,mechanico-chemical synthesis of robust ultrathin Li/Li_(3)P(LLP)composite foils(~15µm)is demonstrated by employing repeated mechanical rolling/stacking operations using red P and metallic Li as raw *** in-situ formed Li+-conductive Li_(3)P nanoparticles in metallic Li matrix and their tight bonding strengthen the mechanical durability and enable the successful fabrication of free-standing ultrathin Li metal composite ***,it also reduces the electrochemical Li nucleation barrier and homogenizes Li plating/stripping *** matching to high-voltage LiCoO_(2),the full cell with a low negative/positive(N/P)capacity ratio of~1.5 offers a high energy density of~522 W·h·kg^(-1) at 0.5 C based on the mass of cathode and *** into account its facile manufacturing,potentially low cost,and good electrochemical performance,we believe that such an ultrathin composite Li metal foil design with nanoparticle-dispersion-strengthened mechanism may boost the development of high energy density Li metal batteries.

Microstructure and mechanical properties of Nb-Si alloys fabricated by spark plasma sintering

This paper deals with microstructural evolutions and mechanical properties of Nb-Si binaries containing dual-phase Nb/Nb5Si3 with Nb to Nb5Si3 fraction ratios of 90:10,80:20,70:30 and 50:50,prepared by spark plasma sintering(SPS).Dense Nb/Nb5Si3 samples with a relative density larger than 99.5% were obtained by SPS *** SPS samples consist of the Nb and Nb5Si3 phases with less than 3% fraction of NbO *** at room temperature,and compressive strength at 1150℃ and 1250 1C of the bulk SPS alloys increase monolithically by enhancing fraction of the stiffening Nb5Si3 *** example,0.2% yield strength,σ0.2,increases from 175 MPa to 420 MPa at 1150℃ and from 110 MPa to 280 MPa at 1250℃,when the Nb5Si3 fraction increases from 10% to 50%.It is interesting that the fracture toughness,KQ,of the bulk SPS samples seems not to be sensitive to phase *** treatment,however,plays a key role on the KQ as compared with that of the as-sintered state,at the corresponding Nb5Si3 fraction and considerably improves the KQ by about 100% for samples with the Nb5Si3 fractions of 10%-30%,and by about 50% for the sample with 50% Nb5Si3 fraction.

Catalytic anode surface enabling in situ polymerization of gel polymer electrolyte for stable Li metal batteries

Employing quasi-solid-state gel polymer electrolyte(GPE)instead of the liquid counterpart has been regarded as a promising strategy for improving the electrochemical performance of Li metal ***,the poor and uneven interfacial contact between Li metal anode and GPE could cause large interfacial resistance and electrochemical Li stripping/plating inhomogeneity,deteriorating the electrochemical ***,we proposed that the functional component of composite anode could work as the catalyst to promote the in situ polymerization reaction,and we experimentally realized the integration of polymerized-dioxolane electrolyte and Li/Li_(22)Sn_(5)/LiF composite electrode with low interfacial resistance and good stability by in situ catalyzation ***,the reaction kinetics and stability of metallic Li anode were significantly *** a demonstration,symmetric cell using such a GPE-Li/Li_(22)Sn_(5)/LiF integration achieved stable cycling beyond 250 cycles with small potential hysteresis of 25 mV at 1 mA·cm^(−2)and 1 mAh·cm^(−2),far outperforming the counterpart regular GPE on pure *** with LiNi0.5Co0.3Mn0.2O2,the full cell with the GPE-Li/Li_(22)Sn_(5)/LiF integration maintained 85.7%of the original capacity after 100 cycles at 0.5 C(1 C=200 mA·g^(−1)).Our research provides a promising strategy for reducing the resistance between GPE and Li metal anode,and realizes Li metal batteries with enhance electrochemical performance.

Black carp growth hormone gene transgenic allotetraploid hybrids of Carassius auratus red var. (♀)×Cyprinus carpio (♂)

Ecological safety is a major consideration in the commercialization of transgenic fish. Development of sterile transgenic triploid fish through hybridization of transgenic tetraploid fish and transgenic diploid fish is a feasible way to solve this problem. The "all-fish" transgene, pbcAbcGHc, containing the black carp β-actin gene promoter and the open reading frame (ORF) of the black carp growth hormone (GH) gene was constructed and introduced into fertilized eggs of allotetraploid fish through microinjection. Contrast cultivation results showed that the growth rate of 150 day-old P 0 black carp GH gene transgenic allotetraploid fish was much higher than that of controls. Sixty 150 day-old transgenic allotetraploid fish were assayed by PCR for transgene integration and 90% of fish were positive for the transgene. The transgene was detected in 13 of 20 sperm samples from male transgenic allotetraploid fish. RT-PCR detected transcription of the exogenous black carp GH gene in the muscle, liver, kidney and ovaries of the largest transgenic allotetraploid fish. This study has developed P 0 black carp GH gene transgenic allotetraploid fish with a highly increased growth rate, which provides a solid foundation for the establishment of a pure line of transgenic allotetraploid fish and for the large scale production of sterile transgenic triploid fish.

The unsulfated extracellular N-terminus of vGPCR reduces the tumorigenicity of hGRO-α in nude mice

The Kaposi's Sarcoma-associated Herpesvirus (KSHV)-encoded G-protein coupled receptor (vGPCR) is an oncoprotein that is implicated in KSHV-associated malignancies. We previously revealed vGPCR incorporates sulfate groups within its extracellular N-terminal tyrosine residues (Y26 and Y28) and that this tyrosine sulfation is crucial for its tumorigenicity in nude mice. hGRO-binds vGPCR in a sulfotyrosine-dependent manner and promotes its tumorigenicity through autocrine signaling. Interestingly, an unsulfated vGPCR mutant (yydd-vGPCR) attenuated the tumor growth triggered by hGRO-α . In this study, the extracellular N-terminus of vGPCR (wt-vGN) and an unsulfated vGPCR mutant (yydd-vGN) were individually secreted, expressed and purified. A radioactive labeling assay demonstrated that wt-vGN but not yydd-vGN incorporated [ 35 S]-sulfate. In nude mice, NIH3T3 cells expressing yydd-vGN but not wt-vGN could significantly inhibit the tumor growth triggered by hGRO-α . All our data support the conclusion that the unsulfated extracellular N-terminus of vGPCR reduces the tumorigenicity of hGRO-α .

External-cavity diode laser(ECDL)has important applications in many fundamental and applied *** we report a method to fast and widely tune the frequency of a stabilized *** beat frequency between the ECDL and a frequency-locked reference laser is identified by the voltagecontrolled oscillator contained in a phase detector,whose output voltage is subtracted from the flexibly controlled PC signal to generate an error signal for stabilizing the *** output frequency of the stabilized ECDL can be shifted at a short characteristic time of∼150µs within a range of∼620 *** wide and fast-frequency tuning achieved by our method is compared with other previous *** demonstrated the performance of our method by the efficient sub-Doppler cooling of Cs atoms with the temperature as low as 6µK.

Diode-pumped alkali lasers,possessing high efficiency and narrow linewidth,can provide feasible solutions for wavelength ranges difficult to reach by commercial *** this study,we investigate a generation of coherent blue light(CBL)via four-wave mixing(FWM)-based up-conversion processes in cesium(Cs)vapor.A bichromatic pumping scheme with 852-and 917-nm lasers drives the Cs atoms to the 6D5/2 excited level,followed by cascaded decay of 6D5/2→7 P3/2→6 S1/2,producing 456-nm CBL under phase matching *** fluorescence in multiple bands from blue to near-and far-infrared in the FWM process is demonstrated under different experimental *** optimize the experimental parameters,we investigate the dependence of 456-nm CBL on the vapor temperature,frequency,and intensity of the two pump lasers.A maximum power of 2.94 mW is achieved with pump powers of 430 mW(for 852 nm)and 470 mW(for 917 nm).The corresponding conversion efficiency is 1.5%/W,three-fold higher than those in previous *** results can contribute to fundamental research on atom–photon interactions and quantum metrology.
