Feasibility study on the DFP adoption of medical cyclotron decommissioning in the Republic of Korea

Since the development of positron emission tomography in 1937, the number of medical cyclotrons used in producing radioisotopes (RI) has risen sharply. In its operation, the structural materials of a medical cyclotron and the concrete shielding of its vault are activated by neutrons. In analyzing domestic and international decommissioning practices, the dismantling characteristics of medical cyclotrons result in a large amount of radioactive wastes, such as concrete, although their activity level is very low. In the United States, the dismantling plan must be established by the applicant. The decommissioning funding plan (DFP) is a financial assurance demonstration based on a site-specific cost estimate of decommissioning the facility. In 10 CFR 30.35, NRC requires the submission of DFP in the case of the possession and use of unsealed byproduct materials with a half-life of greater than 120 days and in quantities exceeding 10(5) times that of the applicable quantities. The dismanding of the Seoul National University Hospital (SNUH) cyclotron (TR-13) was performed in December 2012. Some of the risks resulting from this dismantling are related to radioactive wastes, as well as issues concerning dismantling costs. Hence, we propose introducing the DFP at the authorization stage. DFP will be helpful in preparing reliable decommissioning plans for safe decommissioning and unexpected early decommissioning in the future. DFP can also contribute in reducing radioactive waste and in decreasing the decommissioning cost by preventing excessive establishments. This study provided an overview of the decommissioning aspects of the SNUH cyclotron and the necessity of adopting the DFP for decommissioning medical cyclotrons.

和龙在中国人心目中的地位一样,虎在韩国人的心目中也占据了崇高的地位。中国龙文化自起源到发展至今,已经从原来的一种生物图腾崇拜,转变为封建帝王的皇权象征,再转变为今天每个中国人的精神寄托。韩国虎文化却是从图腾崇拜直接转变为了韩国人的精神寄托,虽然也有和王权的结合,但并未像龙文化那样成为王权的象征。通过对中国龙文化与韩国虎文化的对比研究,则可以发现深藏在两国民族文化中的深层差异。

We have synthesized water-stable polyaniline nanoparticles coated with tri- armed polyethylene glycol chains using a solvent-shift method and confirmed their colloidal size and aqueous solubility. Furthermore, we have demonstrated that the polyaniline nanoparticles can be doped with biological dopants to produce distinct color changes allowing the detection of live cancer cells.

Online Predictive Monitoring and Prediction Model for a Periodic Process Through Multiway Non-Gaussian Modeling

A new on-line predictive monitoring and prediction model for periodic biological processes is proposed using the multiway non-Gaussian modeling. The basic idea of this approach is to use multiway non-Gaussian modeling to extract some dominant key components from daily normal operation data in a periodic process, and subsequently combining these components with predictive statistical process monitoring techniques. The proposed predictive monitoring method has been applied to fault detection and diagnosis in the biological wastewater-treatment process, which is based on strong diurnal characteristics. The results show the power and advantages of the proposed predictive monitoring of a continuous process using the multiway predictive monitoring concept, which is thus able to give very useful conceptual results for a daily monitoring process and also enables a more rapid detection of the process fault than other traditional monitoring methods.

A clothing-type wearable display can be utilized in fashion,bio-healthcare,and safety industries as well as smart textiles for the internet of things(IoTs)and wearable *** response to this trend,we demonstrate a textile display that can endure the active movements of a human *** can be applied to any kind of textile,and is durable against conditions such as rain,sweat,and *** a key technology for realizing the multi-directional wrinkle-able textile display,we fabricated a stress-lowering textile platform with an ultrathin planarization layer replicated from the flat surface of *** elastomeric strain buffer for reducing mechanical stress is also inserted into the textile ***,organic light-emitting diodes(OLEDs)with red,green and blue color,thin film transistors(TFTs)fabricated at a low temperature below 150℃,and a washable encapsulation layer blocking both gas and liquid were demonstrated on the textile platform.

Precise diagnosis and immunity to viruses,such as severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)and Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus(MERS-CoV)is achieved by the detection of the viral antigens and/or corresponding antibodies,***,a widely used antigen detection methods,such as polymerase chain reaction(PCR),are complex,expensive,and time-consuming Furthermore,the antibody test that detects an asymptomatic infection and immunity is usually performed separately and exhibits relatively low *** achieve a simplified,rapid,and accurate diagnosis,we have demonstrated an indium gallium zinc oxide(IGZO)-based biosensor field-effect transistor(bio-FET)that can simultaneously detect spike proteins and antibodies with a limit of detection(LOD)of 1 pg mL–1 and 200 ng mL–1,respectively using a single assay in less than 20 min by integrat-ing microfluidic channels and artificial neural networks(ANNs).The near-sensor ANN-aided classification provides high diagnosis accuracy(>93%)with significantly reduced processing time(0.62%)and energy consumption(5.64%)compared to the software-based *** believe that the development of rapid and accurate diagnosis system for the viral antigens and antibodies detec-tion will play a crucial role in preventing global viral outbreaks.
