Accelerating lithium-sulfur battery reaction kinetics and inducing 3D deposition of li2S using interactions between Fe3Se4 and lithium polysulfides

Although lithium-sulfur batteries（LSBs） exhibit high theoretical energy density,their practical application is hindered by poor conductivity of the sulfur cathode,the shuttle effect,and the irreversible deposition of li2S.To address these issues,a novel composite,using electrospinning technology,consisting of Fe3Se4and porous nitrogen-doped carbon nanofibers was designed for the interlayer of LSBs.The porous carbon nanofiber structure facilitates the transport of ions and electrons,while the Fe3Se4material adsorbs lithium polysulfides（liPSs） and accelerates its catalytic conversion process.Furthermore,the Fe3Se4material interacts with soluble liPSs to generate a new polysulfide intermediate,lixFeSycomplex,which changes the electrochemical reaction pathway and facilitates the three-dimensional deposition of li2S,enhancing the reversibility of LSBs.The designed LSB demonstrates a high specific capacity of1529.6 mA h g-1in the first cycle at 0.2 C.The rate performance is also excellent,maintaining an ultra-high specific capacity of 779.7 mA h g-1at a high rate of 8 C.This investigation explores the mechanism of the interaction between the interlayer and liPSs,and provides a new strategy to regulate the reaction kinetics and li2S deposition in LSBs.

RNA barcode segments for SARS-CoV-2 identification from HCoVs and SARSr-CoV-2 lineages

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2),the pathogen responsible for coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19),continues to evolve,giving rise to more variants and global reinfections.Previous research has demonstrated that barcode segments can effectively and cost-efficiently identify specific species within closely related populations.In this study,we designed and tested RNA barcode segments based on genetic evolutionary relationships to facilitate the efficient and accurate identification of SARS-CoV-2 from extensive virus samples,including human coronaviruses(HCoVs)and SARSr-CoV-2 lineages.Nucleotide sequences sourced from NCBI and GISAID were meticulously selected and curated to construct training sets,encompassing 1733 complete genome sequences of HCoVs and SARSr-CoV-2 lineages.Through genetic-level species testing,we validated the accuracy and reliability of the barcode segments for identifying SARS-CoV-2.Subsequently,75 main and subordinate species-specific barcode segments for SARS-CoV-2,located in ORF1ab,S,E,ORF7a,and N coding sequences,were intercepted and screened based on single-nucleotide polymorphism sites and weighted scores.Post-testing,these segments exhibited high recall rates(nearly 100%),specificity(almost 30%at the nucleotide level),and precision(100%)performance on identification.They were eventually visualized using one and two-dimensional combined barcodes and deposited in an online database(http://virusbarcodedatabase.top/).The successful integration of barcoding technology in SARS-CoV-2 identification provides valuable insights for future studies involving complete genome sequence polymorphism analysis.Moreover,this cost-effective and efficient identification approach also provides valuable reference for future research endeavors related to virus surveillance.

In the process of identifying parameters for a permanent magnet synchronous motor,the particle swarm optimization method is prone to being stuck in local optima in the later stages of iteration,resulting in low parameter accuracy.This work proposes a fuzzy particle swarm optimization approach based on the transformation function and the filled function.This approach addresses the topic of particle swarmoptimization in parameter identification from two perspectives.Firstly,the algorithm uses a transformation function to change the form of the fitness function without changing the position of the extreme point of the fitness function,making the extreme point of the fitness function more prominent and improving the algorithm’s search ability while reducing the algorithm’s computational burden.Secondly,on the basis of themulti-loop fuzzy control systembased onmultiplemembership functions,it is merged with the filled function to improve the algorithm’s capacity to skip out of the local optimal solution.This approach can be used to identify the parameters of permanent magnet synchronous motors by sampling only the stator current,voltage,and speed data.The simulation results show that the method can effectively identify the electrical parameters of a permanent magnet synchronous motor,and it has superior global convergence performance and robustness.

lipid and sugar homeostasis is critical for insect development and survival.In this study,we characterized an acetyl coenzyme A carboxylase gene in Blattella germanica(BgACC)that is involved in both lipogenesis and sugar homeostasis.We found that BgACC was dominantly expressed in the fat body and integument,and was significantly upregulated after molting.Knockdown of BgACC in 5th-instar nymphs did not affect their normal molting to the next nymphal stage,but it caused a lethal phenotype during adult emergence.BgACC-RNA interference(RNAi)significantly downregulated total free fatty acid(FFA)and triacylglycerol(TAG)levels,and also caused a significant decrease of cuticular hydrocarbons(CHCs).Repression of BgACC in adult females affected the development of oocytes and resulted in sterile females,but BgACC-RNAi did not affect the reproductive ability of males.Interestingly,knockdown of BgACC also changed the expression of insulin-like peptide genes(BglLPs),which mimicked a physiological state of high sugar uptake.In addition,BgACC was upregulated when B.germanica were fed on a high sucrose diet,and repression of BgACC upregulated the expression of the glycogen synthase gene(BgGlyS).Moreover,BgACC-RNAi increased the circulating sugar levels and glycogen storage,and a longevity assay suggested that BgACC was important for the survival of B.germanica under conditions of high sucrose uptake.Our results confirm that BgACC is involved in multiple lipid biogenesis and sugar homeostasis processes,which further modulates insect reproduction and sugar tolerance.This study benefits our understanding of the crosstalk between lipid and sugar metabolism.

Plastic crystal neopentyl glycol(NPG)exhibits colossal barocaloric effect with high entropy changes.However,their application is restricted in several aspects,such as low thermal conductivity,substantial supercooling effect,and poor springback properties.In this work,multi-walled carbon nanotubes(MWCNTs)with ultra-high thermal conductivity and high mechanical strength were selected for performance enhancement of NPG.The optimal mixing ratio was determined to be NPG with 3 wt%MWCNTs composites,which showed a 6K reduction in supercooling without affecting the phase change enthalpy.Subsequently,comprehensive performance of the composites with optimal mixing ratio was compared with pure NPG At 40 MPa,390J·K^(-1)·kg^(-1)change in entropy and 9.9 K change in temperature were observed.Furthermore,the minimum driving pressure required to achieve reversible barocaloric effect was reduced by 19.2%.In addition,the thermal conductivity of the composite was increased by approximately 28%,significantly reducing the heat exchange time during a barocaloric refrigeration cycle.More importantly,ultra-high pressure release rate resulted in a73.7%reduction in the springback time of the composites,offering new opportunities for the recovery of expansion work.

Plant viruses are a group of intracellular pathogens that persistently threaten global food security.Significant advances in plant virology have been achieved by Chinese scientists over the last 20 years,including basic research and technologies for preventing and controlling plant viral diseases.Here,we review these milestones and advances,including the identification of new crop-infecting viruses,dissection of pathogenic mechanisms of multiple viruses,examination of multilayered interactions among viruses,their host plants,and virus-transmitting arthropod vectors,and in-depth interrogation of plantencoded resistance and susceptibility determinants.Notably,various plant virus-based vectors have also been successfully developed for gene function studies and target gene expression in plants.We also recommend future plant virology studies in China.

The use of aeolian sand(AS)as an aggregate to prepare coal mine cemented filling materials can resolve the problems of gangue shortage and excessive AS deposits.Owing to the lack of research on the mechanism of cemented AS backfill(CASB),the response surface method(RSM)was adopted in this study to analyze the influence of ordinary Portland cement(PO)content(x_(1)),fly ash(FA)-AS(FA-AS)ratio(x_(2)),and concentration(x_(3))on the mechanical and microscopic properties of the CASB.The hydration characteristics and internal pore structure of the backfill were assessed through thermogravimetric/derivative thermogravimetric analysis,mercury intrusion porosimetry,and scanning electron microscopy.The RSM results show that the influence of each factor and interaction term on the response values is extremely significant(except x_(1)x_(3),which had no obvious effect on the 28 d strength).The uniaxial compressive strength(UCS)increased with the PO content,FA-AS ratio,and concentration.The interaction effects of x_(1)x_(2),x_(1)x_(3),and x_(2)x_(3) on the UCS at 3,7,and 28 d were analyzed.In terms of the influence of interaction items,an improvement in one factor promoted the strengthening effect of another factor.The enhancement mechanism of the curing time,PO content,and FA-AS ratio on the backfill was reflected in the increase in hydration products and pore structure optimization.By contrast,the enhancement mechanism of the concentration was mainly the pore structure optimization.The UCS was positively correlated with weight loss and micropore content but negatively correlated with the total porosity.The R^(2) value of the fitting function of the strength and weight loss,micropore content,and total porosity exceeded 0.9,which improved the characterization of the enhancement mechanism of the UCS based on the thermogravimetric analysis and pore structure.This work obtained that the influence rules and mechanisms of the PO,FA-AS,concentration,and interaction terms on the mechanical properties of the CASB provided a certain the

Background Studying the composition and developmental mechanisms in mammary gland is crucial for healthy growth of newborns. The mammary gland is inherently heterogeneous, and its physiological function dependents on the gene expression of multiple cell types. Most studies focused on epithelial cells, disregarding the role of neighboring adipocytes.Results Here, we constructed the largest transcriptomic dataset of porcine mammary gland cells thus far. The dataset captured 126,829 high-quality nuclei from physiological mammary glands across five developmental stages(d 90 of gestation, G90;d 0 after lactation, L0;d 20 after lactation, L20;2 d post natural involution, PI2;7 d post natural involution, PI7). Seven cell types were identified, including epithelial cells, adipocytes, endothelial cells, fibroblasts cells, immune cells, myoepithelial cells and precursor cells. Our data indicate that mammary glands at different developmental stages have distinct phenotypic and transcriptional signatures. During late gestation(G90), the differentiation and proliferation of adipocytes were inhibited. Meanwhile, partly epithelial cells were completely differentiated. Pseudo-time analysis showed that epithelial cells undergo three stages to achieve lactation, including cellular differentiation, hormone sensing, and metabolic activation. During lactation(L0 and L20), adipocytes area accounts for less than 0.5% of mammary glands. To maintain their own survival, the adipocyte exhibited a poorly differentiated state and a proliferative capacity. Epithelial cells initiate lactation upon hormonal stimulation. After fulfilling lactation mission, their undergo physiological death under high intensity lactation. Interestingly, the physiological dead cells seem to be actively cleared by immune cells via CCL21-ACKR4 pathway. This biological process may be an important mechanism for maintaining homeostasis of the mammary gland.
