Pressure calibration and sound velocity measurement to 12 GPa in multi-anvil apparatus

We performed the pressure calibration to 12 GPa for 14/6 type(octahedron edge length/WC truncated edge length,in mm) cell assembly in DS 6 × 1400 multi-anvil apparatus by using the phase transitions in Bi(Ⅰ-Ⅱ2.55 GPa,Ⅲ-Ⅴ 7.67 GPa) and ZnTe(LPP-HPP Ⅰ 9.6 GPa,HPP Ⅰ-Ⅱ 12.0 GPa).As verification and application,sound velocity measurements on poly crystalline Al_(2)O_(3) to 12 GPa at room temperature were conducted and the ultrasonic result is in good agreement with previous *** demonstrates the feasibility of performing sound velocity measurements close to the mantle transition zone pressure condition in our laboratory.

The disparity in the transfer of carriers(electrons/mass)during the reaction in zinc-air batteries(ZABs)results in sluggish kinetics of the oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)and oxygen evolution reaction(OER),along with elevated overpotentials,thereby imposing additional constraints on its ***,the pre-design and target-development of inexpensive,high-performance,and long-term stable bifunctional catalysts are urgently *** this work,an apically guiding dual-functional electrocatalyst(Ag-FeN_(x)-N-C)was prepared,in which a hierarchical porous nitrogen-doped carbon with three-dimensional(3D)hollow star-shaped structure is used as a substrate and high-conductivity Ag nanoparticles are coupled with iron nitride(FeN_(x))*** calculations indicate that the Mott-Schottky heterojunction as an inherent electric field comes from the two-phase bound of Ag and FeN_(x),of which electron accumulation in the FeN_(x)phase region and electron depletion in the Ag phase region promote orientated-guiding charge *** effective modulation of local electronic structures felicitously reforms the d-band electron-group distribution,and intellectually tunes the masstransfer reaction energy barriers for both ORR/***,the hollow star-s haped hierarchical porous structure provides an apical region for fast mass *** results show that the halfwave potential for ORR is 0.914 V,and the overpotential for OER is only 327 mV at 10 mA cm^(-2).A rechargeable ZAB with Ag-FeN_(x)-N-C as the air cathode demonstrates long-term cycling performance exceeding 1500 cycles(500 h),with a power density of 180 mW cm^(-2).Moreover,when employing AgFeN_(x)-N-C as the air cathode,flexible ZABs demonstrate a notable open-circuit voltage of 1.42 V and achieve a maximum power density of 65.6 mW cm^(-2).Ag-FeN_(x)-N-C shows guiding electron/mass transfer route and apical reaction microenvironment for the electrocatalyst architecture in the explo

Objective:To explore the anti-aging effects of chlorogenic acid(CGA)and the underlying mechanisms based on a Caenorhabditis elegans(***)***:The anti-agingactivityofCGAwasstudied basedon thebodylength,exercisebehavior,lipofuscin content,antioxidative stress ability,swallowing frequency,body-bending frequency,and head-swinging ability of *** DAF-16 nuclear translocation and SOD-3-GFP fluorescence experiments,the effects of CGA on ROS levels,antioxidant enzyme activities,MDA content,mutant-strain lifespan,and anti-aging molecular signaling pathways were explored,as well as the underlying ***:CGA improved multiple indices of the nematode:body length was increased(all P<0.001),head-swing frequency and body-bending frequency were increased(all P<0.05),nematode longevity was prolonged(P=0.0021),lipofuscin deposition in nematodes was slowed down(all P<0.001),the chemotaxis index was improved(P=0.0012),ROS levels were reduced(all P<.001),and SOD activity and MDA content were reduced(SOD:P=0.0017 between the low-concentration group and the control group,P<.001 between the high-concentration and medium-concentration groups and the control group;MDA:P=0.0135 between the low-concentration group and the control group,and P<0.001 between the high-concentration and medium-concentration groups and the control group).In addition,CGA also activated the DAF-16 transcription factor,promoted DAF-16 nuclear translocation under oxidative stress conditions(both P<0.001 between the high-concentration and medium-concentration groups and the control group),and increased SOD-3 gene expression in nematodes(all P<0.001).Conclusion:CGA plays an anti-aging role in *** underlying mechanisms include activation of the insulin/IGF-1 signaling pathway and enhancement of DAF-16 *** study lays a foundation for further research into the anti-aging effects of CGA.

Although future sea level rise along the China coast has been projected by various studies for different representative concentration pathways(RCPs),the projections for different warming thresholds,e.g.1.5℃ and 2.0℃,have not been done specifically for this region,to the best of our *** provide such a projection here based on the climate projections of Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 5(CMIP5).The projections are given for 20 tide-gauge stations along the coast of China,Korea,Japan,and *** land motion(VLM)is also estimated for stations that have tide gauge records and satellite altimetry both covering the period of *** land motion(LLM)is then estimated by subtracting the land motion due to glacial isostatic adjustment(GIA)from *** considering LLM,sea level rise by 2100 at median probability is projected to be 38-49 cm relative to the average sea level over 1986-2005 under warming of 1.5℃,and increase to 46-57 cm when the warming threshold is increased to 2.0℃.The steric component is the main contributor to this increase in sea *** of LLM will not affect the sea level increase between the two warming thresholds,but it will make the local sea level rise by 2100 at certain locations substantially higher(up to 36 cm)or lower(up to 13 cm).

Based on the CTD and meteorological data obtained by R/V Xiangyanghong No. 14 in the South China Sea (SCS) in the summer of 1998, both current velocity and volume transport are calculated by using a modified inverse model. Circulation in the SCS is analyzed by combining the calculated results with ADCP data. The following results are obtained, (i) The most important feature of the circulation in the northeastern SCS is that a branch of the Kuroshio intrudes into the SCS with a small volume transport. It flows anticyclonically through the Bashi Strait and towards the southwest off the Taiwan Island, and it does not intrude into the inner SCS. (ii) The northern SCS is dominated mainly by a cyclonic circulation system with two cold eddies, (iii) The central and southwestern SCSs are mainly occupied by anticyclonic circulation systems, including three anticyclonic and one stronger cyclonic eddies, (iv) In the southeastern SCS, there is a large scope of cyclonic circulation extending in the SW-NE direction,

The wide-shallow composite bucket foundation(WSCBF) is a new type of offshore wind power foundation that can be built on land and rapidly installed offshore, there by effectively reducing the construction time and costs of offshore wind power foundation. In this study, the horizontal bearing capacity is calculated by finite element simulation and compared with test results to verify the validity of results. In this process, the vertical load and bending load are respectively calculated by the finite element simulation. Under the vertical load effect, the bucket foundation and the soil inside are regarded as a whole, and the corresponding buckling failure mode is obtained. The ultimate vertical bearing capacity is calculated using empirical and theoretical formulas; the theoretical formula is also revised by finite element results. Under bending load, the rotational center of the composite bucket foundation(in a region close to the bucket bottom) gradually moves from the left of the central axis(reverse to loading direction) to the nearby compartment boards along the loading direction. The H–M envelope line shows a linear relationship, and it is determined that the vertical and bending ultimate bearing capacities can be improved by an appropriate vertical load.

BACKGROUND： In the repair of nerve defects, collapse of the venous wall, as a result of vein grafting alone, could impede nerve regeneration. Therefore, vein lumens filled with muscle and nerve segments have been used to bridge nerve defects. OBJECTIVE： To compare the effects of autogenous, inside-out, vein-skeletal, muscle-combined grafting versus standard, vein-skeletal, muscle-combined grafting for the repair of facial nerve defects. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING： A randomized, controlled, neuroanatomical, animal study was performed at the Animal Experimental Center and Laboratories of the Capital Medical University Xuanwu Hospital and the Peking Union Medical College Hospital from September 2007 to October ***： A total of 10 healthy, male, New Zealand rabbits, aged 6 months, were randomly assigned to inside-out, vein-skeletal, muscle-combined grafting and standard, vein-skeletal, muscle-combined grafting groups, with 5 rabbits in each group. METHODS： A 20-mm gap in the buccal branch of the right facial nerve was made in each animal, which was respectively repaired with inside-out, vein-skeletal, muscle-combined grafts or standard vein-skeletal muscle-combined *** OUTCOME MEASURES： At 6 months after implantation, evoked maximal compound muscle action potentials were recorded on bilateral facial nerves using electromyogram. Myelinated nerve fibers of the regenerating nerves were quantified using myelin sheath osmic acid staining. RESULTS： There was no significant difference between the groups in terms of ratios of bilateral amplitude and latency of compound muscle action potential （P 〉 0.05）. Moreover, morphology of regenerating nerves and quantity of myelinated nerve fibers were similar between the groups （P 〉 0.05）. CONCLUTION： Compared with standard vein grafting, the inside-out vein grafting did not significantly improve nerve regeneration. Quantifying climate conditions for the formation of coals and evaporites

Coals and evaporites are commonly used as qualitative indicators of wet and dry environments in deep-time climate studies,***,we combine geological records with climate simulations to establish quantitative relationships of coals and evaporites with temperature and precipitation over the *** show that coal records were associated with a median temperature of 25℃ and precipitation of1300 mm yr-1before 250 ***,coal records appeared with temperatures between 0℃ and 21℃and precipitation of 900 mm *** records were associated with a median temperature of 27℃and precipitation of 800 mm *** most remarkable result is that net precipitation associated with coal and evaporite records remained constant across *** results here have important implications for quantifying climate conditions for other lithologic indicators of climate and for predicting exogenetic ore deposits.
