Deep neural network-enabled battery open-circuit voltage estimation based on partial charging data

Battery management systems(BMSs) play a vital role in ensuring efficient and reliable operations of lithium-ion batteries.The main function of the BMSs is to estimate battery states and diagnose battery health using battery open-circuit voltage(OCV).However,acquiring the complete OCV data online can be a challenging endeavor due to the time-consuming measurement process or the need for specific operating conditions required by OCV estimation models.In addressing these concerns,this study introduces a deep neural network-combined framework for accurate and robust OCV estimation,utilizing partial daily charging data.We incorporate a generative deep learning model to extract aging-related features from data and generate high-fidelity OCV curves.Correlation analysis is employed to identify the optimal partial charging data,optimizing the OCV estimation precision while preserving exceptional flexibility.The validation results,using data from nickel-cobalt-magnesium(NCM) batteries,illustrate the accurate estimation of the complete OCV-capacity curve,with an average root mean square errors(RMSE) of less than 3 mAh.Achieving this level of precision for OCV estimation requires only around 50 s collection of partial charging data.Further validations on diverse battery types operating under various conditions confirm the effectiveness of our proposed method.Additional cases of precise health diagnosis based on OCV highlight the significance of conducting online OCV estimation.Our method provides a flexible approach to achieve complete OCV estimation and holds promise for generalization to other tasks in BMSs.

Study of the spatial growth of stimulated Brillouin scattering in a gas-filled hohlraum via detecting the driven ion acoustic wave

In an experiment performed on the Shenguang-III prototype laser facility, collective Thomson scattering (TS) is used to study the spatialgrowth of stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) in a gas-filled hohlraum by detecting the SBS-driven ion acoustic wave. High-quality timeresolved SBS and TS spectra are obtained simultaneously in the experiment, and these are analyzed by a steady-state code based on theray-tracing model. The analysis indicates that ion–ion collisions may play an important role in suppressing SBS growth in the Au plasma;as aresult, the SBS excited in the filled gas region is dominant. In the early phase of the laser pulse, SBS originates primarily from the high-densityplasma at the edges of the interaction beam channel, which is piled up by the heating of the interaction beam. Throughout the duration of thelaser pulse, the presence of the TS probe beam might mitigate SBS by perturbing the density distribution around the region overlapping withthe interaction beam.

Study on Dynamic Mechanical Behavior of Al-Mg-Si Alloy

The dynamic mechanical behavior of Al-Mg-Si alloy was investigated under different strain rates by mechanical property and microstructure characterization,constitutive behavior analysis and numerical simulation in the present study.As the strain rate increases,the yield strength,ultimate tensile strength and elongation increase first,then remain almost constant,and finally increase.The alloy always exhibits a typical ductile fracture mode,not depending on the strain rate.However,as the strain rate increases,the number of dimples gradually increases.Tensile deformation can refine grains,however,the grain structure is slightly affected by the strain rate.An optimized Johnson-Cook constitutive equation was used to describe the mechanical behavior and obtained by fitting the true stress-strain curves.The parameter C was described by a function related to the strain rate.The fitting true stress-strain curves by the JC model agree very well with the experimental true stress-strain curves.The true stress-strain curves calculated by the finite element numerical simulation agree well with the experimental true stress-strain curves.

Rbm8a regulates neurogenesis and reduces Alzheimer's disease-associated pathology in the dentate gyrus of 5×FAD mice

Alzheimer’s disease is a prevalent and debilitating neurodegenerative condition that profoundly affects a patient’s daily functioning with progressive cognitive decline,which can be partly attributed to impaired hippocampal neurogenesis.Neurogenesis in the hippocampal dentate gyrus is likely to persist throughout life but declines with aging,especially in Alzheimer’s disease.Recent evidence indicated that RNA-binding protein 8A(Rbm8a)promotes the proliferation of neural progenitor cells,with lower expression levels observed in Alzheimer’s disease patients compared with healthy people.This study investigated the hypothesis that Rbm8a overexpression may enhance neurogenesis by promoting the proliferation of neural progenitor cells to improve memory impairment in Alzheimer’s disease.Therefore,Rbm8a overexpression was induced in the dentate gyrus of 5×FAD mice to validate this hypothesis.Elevated Rbm8a levels in the dentate gyrus triggered neurogenesis and abated pathological phenotypes(such as plaque formation,gliosis reaction,and dystrophic neurites),leading to ameliorated memory performance in 5×FAD mice.RNA sequencing data further substantiated these findings,showing the enrichment of differentially expressed genes involved in biological processes including neurogenesis,cell proliferation,and amyloid protein formation.In conclusion,overexpressing Rbm8a in the dentate gyrus of 5×FAD mouse brains improved cognitive function by ameliorating amyloid-beta-associated pathological phenotypes and enhancing neurogenesis.

Electromechanical Transient Modeling Analysis of Large-Scale New Energy Grid Connection

The synchronous virtual machine uses inverter power to imitate the performance of the conventional synchronous machine.It also has the same inertia,damping,frequency,voltage regulation,and other external performance as the generator.It is the key technology to realize new energy grid connections’stable and reliable operation.This project studies a dynamic simulation model of an extensive new energy power system based on the virtual synchronous motor.A new energy storage method is proposed.The mathematical energy storage model is established by combining the fixed rotor model of a synchronous virtual machine with the charge-discharge power,state of charge,operation efficiency,dead zone,and inverter constraint.The rapid conversion of energy storage devices absorbs the excess instantaneous kinetic energy caused by interference.The branch transient of the critical cut set in the system can be confined to a limited area.Thus,the virtual synchronizer’s kinetic and potential energy can be efficiently converted into an instantaneous state.The simulation of power system analysis software package(PSASP)verifies the correctness of the theory and algorithm in this paper.This paper provides a theoretical basis for improving the transient stability of new energy-connected power grids.

Tuning exciton dynamics by the dielectric confinement effect in quasi-two-dimensional perovskites

The dielectric confinement effect plays an essential role in optoelectronic devices.Existing studies on the relationship between the dielectric confinement and the photoelectric properties are inadequate.Herein,three organic spacers with different dielectric constants are employed to tune the exciton dynamics of quasi-two-dimensional(quasi-2D)Ruddlesden–Popper perovskite films.Femtosecond transient absorption spectroscopy reveals that the small dielectric constant ligand enables a weak dynamic disorder and a large modulation depth of the coherent phonons,resulting in a more complete energy transfer and the inhibition of a trap-mediated nonradiative recombination.Additionally,the increase in the bulk-ligand dielectric constant reduces the corresponding exciton binding energy and then suppresses the Auger recombination,which is beneficial for high-luminance lightemitting diodes.This work emphasizes the importance of dielectric confinement for regulating the exciton dynamics of layered perovskites.

Atomization characteristics of pyrolysis oil derived from waste tires

The atomization characteristics play a key role in the highly efficient combustion of pyrolysis oil derived from waste tires.In this study,the fuel properties of tire pyrolysis oil(TPO)were initially studied,and then a high-speed camera and a phase Doppler particle analyzer were employed to characterize the atomization feature of TPO.The influence of pressure and nozzle orifice diameter on atomization characteristics such as spray angle,droplet velocity,and droplet size distribution was investigated.The results showed that TPO had a high calorific value of about 43.6 MJ/kg and a low viscosity of 3.84×10^(–6)m^(2)/s at 40℃,which made it have the potential to be used as an alternative fuel.Higher pressure expanded the spray angle and extended the spray in both the axial and radial directions.With increasing pressure,spray angle and droplet velocity raised,and the increase in crushing effect of air reduced the Sauter mean diameter(SMD)of the droplets.To obtain proper atomization quality for combustion,the pressure is expected to be higher than 1.25 MPa.With increasing nozzle orifice diameter,droplet velocity increased,and the SMD of the droplets increased as well due to weakened crushing effect of the orifice.Therefore,the pressure must be increased to maintain the atomization quality when using a nozzle with a larger orifice.Due to the lower viscosity,the velocity and particle size distribution of TPO droplets after atomization were smaller than those of diesel droplets.The extremely small carbon black contained in TPO also contributed to the breaking of droplets and played a certain role in the size reduction of the oil droplets,but it may cause the risk of nozzle blockage.In summary,TPO showed great atomization characteristics for alternative fuel applications.

Apically guiding electron/mass transfer reaction induced by Ag/FeNx Mott-Schottky effect within a hollow star reactor toward high performance zinc-air batteries

The disparity in the transfer of carriers(electrons/mass) during the reaction in zinc-air batteries(ZABs)results in sluggish kinetics of the oxygen reduction reaction(ORR) and oxygen evolution reaction(OER),along with elevated overpotentials,thereby imposing additional constraints on its utilization.Therefore,the pre-design and target-development of inexpensive,high-performance,and long-term stable bifunctional catalysts are urgently needed.In this work,an apically guiding dual-functional electrocatalyst(Ag-FeNx-N-C) was prepared,in which a hierarchical porous nitrogen-doped carbon with three-dimensional(3D) hollow star-shaped structure is used as a substrate and high-conductivity Ag nanoparticles are coupled with iron nitride(FeNx) nanoparticles.Theoretical calculations indicate that the Mott-Schottky heterojunction as an inherent electric field comes from the two-phase bound of Ag and FeNx,of which electron accumulation in the FeNxphase region and electron depletion in the Ag phase region promote orientated-guiding charge migration.The effective modulation of local electronic structures felicitously reforms the d-band electron-group distribution,and intellectually tunes the masstransfer reaction energy barriers for both ORR/OER.Additionally,the hollow star-s haped hierarchical porous structure provides an apical region for fast mass transfer.Experimental results show that the halfwave potential for ORR is 0.914 V,and the overpotential for OER is only 327 mV at 10 mA cm-2.A rechargeable ZAB with Ag-FeNx-N-C as the air cathode demonstrates long-term cycling performance exceeding 1500 cycles(500 h),with a power density of 180 mW cm-2.Moreover,when employing AgFeNx-N-C as the air cathode,flexible ZABs demonstrate a notable open-circuit voltage of 1.42 V and achieve a maximum power density of 65.6 mW cm-2.Ag-FeNx-N-C shows guiding electron/mass transfer route and apical reaction microenvironment for the electrocatalyst architecture in the exploration prospects of ZABs.

Intramolecularly lactam stapled oxyntomodulin analogues inhibit cancer cell proliferation in vitro

As a glucagon(GCG) receptor(GCGR) and glucagon-like peptide 1(GLP-1) receptor(GLP-1R) dual agonist, oxyntomodulin(OXM) has been attracting scientific attentions due to its efficacies of suppressing appetite, increasing energy expenditure, and inducing body weight loss in obese humans. Based on the scaffold of native OXM, specific helix-favoring amino acids substitutions and the consequent salt bridge formations were believed to offer enhanced and balanced GCGR/GLP-1R activations through increasing α-helical conformation. Novel OXM analogues are obtained by intramolecular lactam stapling of positions[Glu16 & Lys20] or [Lys17 & Glu21] to further strengthen conformationally constrained stabilization. Even though the lactam staple does not provide additional dual GCGR/GLP-1R activations in vitro, the stapled OXM analogues are firstly reported to have higher or lower anti-PANC-1 cell proliferation activity, meanwhile which has no obvious inhibitory effect on the proliferation of He La cells. Therefore, it is speculated that the stapled analogues may have the potential to inhibit the proliferation of specific cancer cell types.Among the stapled peptides as well as their precursors, analogue 6 has the most prominent anti-PANC-1 proliferation activity with the IC50value of 115.1 μmol/L. Its mechanism of actions including effective signal pathways should be worth further investigations in future.

Integrated energy corridor:a comprehensive proposal of the low-carbon transition for China Energy Group

New energy is considered to be an indispensable means to significantly reduce carbon emissions and to achieve the temperature-control goals defined by the Paris Climate Accord.Despite the bright future,the inherent characteristics,including volatility,intermittency and uneven seasonal and geographical distributions,and the rapid growth of installations make it increasingly difficult to connect green electricity to grids.This becomes a dominating bottleneck for the low-carbon transition of China Energy Group(CE).This paper aims to help with the implementation of the new-energy development plan and to define the low-carbon energy-transition path for CE.Based on the current industry structure of CE,Shenhua Engineering Technology Co.,Ltd proposes the concept of an‘integrated energy corridor’.The integrated energy corridor represents a comprehensive energy-transmission channel with coal,green electricity,green hydrogen,green oxygen and other green energy products such as transmission media,railways,pipelines and power grids as transmission means and thermal power,coal chemical plants,cities,etc.along the route as new-energy consumers and regulators.The integrated energy corridor can support the rapid development of new-energy assets and the low-carbon transition of CE.
