Highly strengthening and toughening biomimetic ceramic structures fabricated via a novel coaxially printing

Additive manufacturing technology,by manipulating and emulating inherent multiscale,multi-material,and multifunctional structures found in nature,has created new opportunities for constructing heterogeneous structures associated with special properties and achieving ultra-high mechanical performance and reliability in ceramic composite *** this study,we have developed an innovative fabrication method designated as coaxial 3D printing for the synchronous construction of two constituents into ceramic composites with a tooth enamel biomimetic ***,the stiff silicate and flexible epoxy served as a strengthening bridge and toughening layer,*** method differed from the traditional approach of randomly dispersing reinforcing components within a ceramic *** allowed for the direct creation of an internally effective three-dimensional reinforcement network structure in ceramic *** process facilitated synergistic deformation and simultaneous enhancement of multiple materials and hierarchical *** to the uniform distribution of internal stress and effective block of microcrack propagation,the biomimetically structured silicate/epoxy ceramic composite has demonstrated much significant enhancement in mechanical properties,includingcompressive strength(48.8±3.12MPa),flexuralstrength(10.39±1.23MPa),andflexuraltoughness(218.7±54.6kJ/m^(3)),which was 0.5,2.1,and 47.5 times as high as those of the intrinsic brittle silicate ceramics,***-situ characterization and multiscale finite element simulation of microstructural evolution during three-point bending deformation further validated multiple-step features of the fracture process(silicate bridge fracture,interface detachment,epoxy extraction,and rupture),which benefited from interpenetrating structural features achieved by coaxial printing to accomplish with the complex propagating routines of the crack deflection in silicate ceramic *** coaxia

Fabrication of porous adsorbents from eco-friendly aqueous foam for high-efficient removal of cationic dyes and sustainable utilization assessment

Porous materials applied in environmental remediation have received researchers'extensive attention recently,but the related green and convenient preparation method is rarely ***,we recommended a green and convenient strategy for the fabrication of porous material via aqueous foam templates,which was synergistically stabilized by Codonopsis pilosula(CP)and clay minerals of attapulgite(APT).The characterization results revealed that the APT was modified by organic molecules leached from CP and anchored at the air-water interface,which improved the foam stability *** novel porous material of polyacrylamide/Codonopsis pilosula/attapulgite(PAM/CP/APT)templated from the aqueous foam via a polymerization reaction had excellent adsorption capacity for the cationic dyes methyl violet(MV)and methylene blue(MB),and the adsorption capacity can reach 755.85 mg/g and557.64 mg/g,*** importantly,the adsorption capacity of spent adsorbent material was still over 200 mg/g after being recycled five times through a simple carbonization process,and then it was added to the plant pot,the total biomass was increased by about86.42%.This study provided a green and sustainable pathway for the preparation,application and subsequent processing of porous materials.

Interfacial Reaction of Ti6Al4V Lattice Structure-Reinforced VW92 Alloy Matrix Composites

A novel melting infiltration by ultrasonic vibration was investigated and applied to fabricate Ti6Al4V(TC4)lattice structure-reinforced Mg-10Gd-2Y-1Zn-xZr(refer to VW92 hereafter,x=0,0.5 wt%)alloy matrix *** edge-to-edge matching model indicates that the well-matching and possible orientation relationships(ORs)between theα-Mg andα-Ti,[10-10]_(α-Mg)//[11-23]_(α-Ti) in(0002)_(α-Mg)//(10-10)_(α-Ti) possesses the smallest misfit of 0.4%(f_(r)),and thus theα-Mg grains can nucleate on the TC4 lattice *** reaction occurred in the TC4/VW92+0.5 wt%Zr composites,and the reaction product was confirmed to be Al_(2)Zr_(3),AlZr_(2) andα-Ti(Zr)particles formed by continuous solution of *** the interfacial products,the AlZr_(2) phase is a brittle phase with high-volume fraction,which is not conducive to the load *** generally speaking,theα-Ti(Zr)and theα-Mg tend to form a coherent interface,which is beneficial for improving the interfacial bonding strength of composites.

Sedimentary Evolution of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in Cenozoic and its Response to the Uplift of the Plateau

We have studied the evolution of the tectonic lithofacies paleogeography of Paleocene- Eocene, Oligocene, Miocene, and Pliocene of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau by compiling data regarding the type, tectonic setting, and iithostratigraphic sequence of 98 remnant basins in the plateau area. Our results can be summarized as follows. （1） The Paleocene to Eocene is characterized by uplift and erosion in the Songpan-Garze and Gangdise belts, depression （lakes and pluvial plains） in eastern Tarim, Qaidam, Qiangtang, and Hoh Xil, and the Neo-Tethys Sea in the western and southern Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. （2） The Oligocene is characterized by uplift in the Gangdise--Himalaya and Karakorum regions （marked by the absence of sedimentation）, fluvial transport （originating eastward and flowing westward） in the Brahmaputra region （marked by the deposition of Dazhuka conglomerate）, uplift and erosion in western Kunlun and Songpan-Garze, and depression （lakes） in the Tarim, Qaidam, Qiangtang, and Hoh Xil. The Oligocene is further characterized by depressional littoral and neritic basins in southwestern Tarim, with marine facies deposition ceasing at the end of the Oligocene. （3） For the Miocene, a widespread regional unconformity （ca. 23 Ma） in and adjacent to the plateau indicates comprehensive uplift of the plateau. This period is characterized by depressions （lakes） in the Tarim, Qaidam, Xining-Nanzhou, Qiangtang, and Hoh Xil. Lacustrine facies deposition expanded to peak in and adjacent to the plateau ca. 18-13 Ma, and north-south fault basins formed in southern Tibet ca. 13-10 Ma. All of these features indicate that the plateau uplifted to its peak and began to collapse. （4） Uplift and erosion occurred during the Pliocene in most parts of the plateau, except in the Hoh Xil-Qiangtang, Tarim, and Qaidam. There are many types of wetlands around the Chaohu Lake,and wetland biodiversity is rich. The protection of wetland biodiversity is of great significance for regional sustainable development. In this paper,the wetlands around the Chaohu Lake are taken as the research objects. Based on the investigation and analysis of the biodiversity in the wetlands,combing the threats to the biodiversity of the wetland around the Chaohu Lake at the present stage,the biodiversity protection countermeasures of the wetlands around the Chaohu Lake are put forward.
