Rosiglitazone prevents murine hepatic fibrosis induced by Schistosoma japonicum

AIM: To evaluate the effect of rosiglitazone in a murine model of liver fibrosis induced by Schistosoma japonicum infection. METHODS: A total of 50 mice were randomly and averagely divided into groups A, B, C, D and E. The mice in group A served as normal controls, while those in the other four groups were infected with Schistosoma japonicum to induce the model of liver fibrosis. Besides, the mice in groups C, D and E were treated with praziquantel, rosiglitazone and praziquantel plus rosiglitazone, respectively. NF-κB binding activity and expression of PPARγ-mRNA were determined by Western blot assay and real-time quantitative PCR. Radioimmunonassay technique was used to detect the serum content changes of TNF-α and IL-6. Histological specimens were stained with he. Expression of TGF-β1, a-smooth muscle actin and type ?Ⅰ?and type Ⅲ collagen was detected by immunohistochemistry and multimedia color pathographic analysis system. RESULTS: Inflammation and fibrosis in the rosiglitazone plus praziquantel treatment group (group E) were lightest among the mice infected with Schistosoma (P her explore the mechanism of rosiglitazone action, we found that rosiglitazone can significantly increase the expression of PPARγ [E: -18.212 ± (-3.909) vs B: -27.315 ± (-6.348) and C: -25.647 ± (-5.694), P he NF-κB binding activity (E: 88.89 ± 19.34 vs B: 141.11 ± 15.37, C: 112.89 ± 20.17 and D: 108.89 ± 20.47, P he serum level of TNF-α (E: 1.613 ± 0.420 ng/mL vs B: 2.892 ± 0.587 ng/mL, C: 2.346 ± 0.371 ng/mL and D: 2.160 ± 0.395 ng/mL, P he hepatic expression of TGF-β1, α-SMA type Ⅰand type Ⅲ collagen in mice with liver fibrosis. CONCLUSION: The activation of PPARγ by its ligand can retard liver fibrosis and suggest the use of rosiglitazone for the treatment

Inhibition of hepatitis B virus replication by pokeweed antiviral protein in vitro

AIM: To explore the inhibitory effects of pokeweed antiviral protein seed (PAP-S) and PAP encoded by a eukaryotic expression plasmid on hepatitis B virus (HBV) replication in vitro. METHODS: hepG2 2.2.15 cells in cultured medium were treated with different concentrations of PAP-S. HBsAg, HBeAg and HBV DNA in supernatants were determined by ELISA and fluorescent quantitative PCR respectively. MTT method was used to assay for cytotoxicity. hepG2 were cotransfected with various amounts of PAP encoded by a eukaryotic expression plasmid and replication competent wild-type HBV 1.3 fold over- length plasmid. On d 3 after transfection, HBsAg and HBeAg were determined by using ELISA. Levels of HBV core-associated DNA and RNA were detected by using Southern and Northern blot, respectively. RESULTS: The inhibitory effects of PAP-S on HBsAg, HBeAg and HBV DNA were gradually enhanced with the increase of PAP concentration. When the concentration of PAP-S was 10 μg/mL, the inhibition rates of HBsAg, HBeAg and HBV DNA were 20.9%, 30.2% and 50%, respectively. After transfection of 1.0 μg and 2.0 μg plasmid pXF3H-PAP, the levels of HBV nucleocapside- associated DNA were reduced by 38.0% and 74.0% respectively, the levels of HBsAg in the media by 76.8% and 99.7% respectively, and the levels of HBeAg by 72.7% and 99.3% respectively as compared with controls. Transfection with 2 μg plasmid pXF3H-PAP reduced the levels of HBV nucleocapside-associated RNA by 69.0%.CONCLUSION: Both PAP-S and PAP encoded by a eukaryotic expression plasmid could effectively inhibit HBV replication and antigen expression in vitro, and the inhibitory effects were dose-dependent.

The emergence of microhemispherical resonant gyroscopes,which integrate the advantages of exceptional stability and long lifetime with miniaturization,has afforded new possibilities for the development of whole-angle ***,existing methods used for manufacturing microhemispherical resonant gyroscopes based on MEMS technology face the primary drawback of intricate and costly ***,we report the design,fabrication,and characterization of the first 3D-printable microhemispherical shell resonator for a Coriolis vibrating *** remarkably achieve fabrication in just two steps bypassing the dozen or so steps required in traditional *** utilizing the intricate shaping capability and ultrahigh precision offered by projection microstereolithography,we fabricate 3D high-aspect-ratio resonant structures and controllable capacitive air gaps,both of which are extremely difficult to obtain via MEMS *** addition,the resonance frequency of the fabricated resonators can be tuned by electrostatic forces,and the fabricated resonators exhibit a higher quality factor in air than do typical MEMS microhemispherical *** work demonstrates the feasibility of rapidly batch-manufacturing microhemispherical shell resonators,paving the way for the development of microhemispherical resonator gyroscopes for portable inertial ***,this particular design concept could be further applied to increase uptake of resonator tools in the MEMS community.

The Fengcheng Formation is a crucial source rock and the primary reservoir for oil accumulation in the Mahu *** oils are distributed throughout the Fengcheng Formation,ranging from the edge to the interior of the sag in the southern Mahu *** crude oils originate from in-situ source rocks in shallowly buried areas and the inner deep *** migration,the crude oil from the inner deep sag affects the source rocks close to carrier beds,leading to changes in the organic geochemical characteristics of the source *** changes might alter source rock evaluations and oil-source *** on data such as total organic carbon(TOC),Rock-Eval pyrolysis of source rocks,and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS)of the saturated fraction,and considering the geological characteristics of the study area,we define the identification characteristics of source rock affected by migrated hydrocarbons and establish the various patterns of influence that migrated hydrocarbons have on the source rock of the Fengcheng Formation in the southern Mahu *** source rocks of the Fengcheng Formation are mostly fair to good,containing mainly Type II organic matter and being thermally mature enough to generate *** rocks affected by migrated hydrocarbons exhibit relatively high hydrocarbon contents(S1/TOC>110 mg HC/g TOC,Extract/TOC>30%,HC:hydrocarbon),relatively low Rock-Eval Tmax values,and relatively high tricyclic terpane contents with a descending and mountain-shaped ***,biomarker composition parameters indicate a higher thermal maturity than in-situ source *** a comparison of the extract biomarker fingerprints of adjacent reservoirs and mudstones in different boreholes,three types of influence patterns of migrated hydrocarbons are identified:the edge-influence of thin sandstone-thick mudstone,the mixed-influence of sandstone-mudstone interbedded,and the full-influence of thick sandstone-thin *** finding reminds

Improving Thermal-oxidative Aging Resistance of Styrene-butadiene Rubber by Antioxidant Loaded Silica Aerogel

Let n≥2 be an integer. We give necessary and sufficient conditions for an integral quadratic form over dyadic local fields to be n-universal by using invariants from Beli's theory of bases of norm ***, we provide a minimal set for testing n-universal quadratic forms over dyadic local fields, as an analogue of Bhargava and Hanke's 290-theorem(or Conway and Schneeberger's 15-theorem) on universal quadratic forms with integer coefficients.

Feedback processing in the primate brain and in AI systems

The primate brain and artificial intelligence(AI) can both be conceptualized as information processing systems, each with its own distinct biological and computational architectures. While there are parallels between them, their respective structural and functional connections show significant differences. In this paper, we examine the central role of feedback processing in both the primate brain and AI systems, which has been shown to be crucial in shaping neural processing. By reviewing the key features of feedback processes in the primate brain, which allows the brain to incorporate prior knowledge, contextual information, and taskdemands into early-stage processing, we highlight the divergence in goals and functions between biological and AI *** these differences is crucial for elucidating the cognitive capabilities of the primate brain and for addressing computational challenges in AI. In advocating “Cognition-Inspired-Computation”, we suggest that integrating insights from feedback processing in the primate brain into AI research will offer potentially significant improvements for the advancement of AI systems.

Low profile cavity-embedded ultra-wideband UHF array antenna with end-fire beams

A low-profile,vertically polarized,ultra-wideband array antenna with end-fire beams operating in an ultra-high frequency(UHF)band is developed in this *** array antenna consists of 1×16 log-periodic top-hat loaded monopole antenna arrays and is feasible to embed into a shallow cavity to further reduce the array *** is introduced in the proposed antenna element to reduce profile height and the rectangular top hats are carefully designed to minimize the transverse *** results show that when the antenna array operates in a frequency range of 300 MHz-900 MHz,the end-fire radiation pattern achieves±45°scanning range in the horizontal *** prototypes of the proposed end-fire antenna element and a uniformly spaced linear array(1×2)are fabricated and *** end-fire antenna array should be suitable for airborne applications where low-profile and conformal scanning phased antenna arrays with end-fire radiations are *** design is attractive for airborne platform applications that are used to search,discover,identify,and scout the aerial target with vertically polarized beams.

The availability of lithium resources is of great significance for the development of modern technologies,as well as for civil and military *** Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is a region known for its abundance of lithium-rich salt ***,the specific origin of lithium in these lakes is still unknown,which hinders the advancement of the lithium resource business in this *** research this issue,this study involved the collection of 20 samples from Lakkor Co Salt Lake on Qinghai-Tibet Plateau,encompassing samples of surface brine,cold springs,fresh lakes,and recharge *** composition of anions and cations in these samples was ***,the analysis extensivelyutilizedthePiperthree-linediagram,Gibbs model,and ion proportion *** findings of this study indicate that as the moves from the recharge water system to salt lake,there is a transition in water type from strong carbonate to moderate carbonate and weak carbonate,as well as Na *** research based on a similar source of both lithium and boron,utilized ion correlation analysis and boron isotope study in the Lakkor Co area,and analyzed the source and transporting process of *** main origin of lithium in Lakkor Co is the dissolution of lithiumrich rocks,recharge water systems,and deep hydrothermal *** findings are highly significant in enhancing the foundational data of lithium-rich brine resources in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and are beneficial for assessing the future development of such deposits.
