Subtotal colonic bypass plus colostomy with antiperistaltic cecoproctostomy for the treatment of slow transit constipation in an aged population:A retrospective control study

AIM To compare the efficacy,improved quality of life,and prognosis in patients undergoing either subtotal colonic bypass with antiperistaltic cecoproctostomy(SCBAC) or subtotal colonic bypass plus colostomy with antiperistaltic cecoproctostomy(SCBCAC) for the treatment of slow transit *** Between October 2010 and October 2014,aged patients with slow transit constipation who were hospitalized and underwent laparoscopic surgery in our institute weredivided into two groups: the bypass group,15 patients underwent SCBAC,and the bypass plus colostomy group,14 patients underwent SCBCAC. The following preoperative and postoperative clinical data were collected: gender,age,body mass index,operative time,first flatus time,length of hospital stay,bowel movements(BMs),Wexner fecal incontinence scale,Wexner constipation scale(WCS),gastrointestinal quality of life index(GIQli),numerical rating scale for pain intensity(NRS),abdominal bloating score(ABS),and ClavienDindo classification of surgical complications(CD) before surgery and at 3,6,12,and 24 mo after *** All patients successfully underwent laparoscopic surgery without open surgery conversion or surgeryrelated death. The operative time and blood loss were significantly less in the bypass group than in the bypass plus colostomy group(P = 0.007). No significant differences were observed in first flatus time,length of hospital stay,or complications with CD > 1 between the two groups. No patients had fecal incontinence after surgery. At 3,6,and 12 mo after surgery,the number of BMs was significantly less in the bypass plus colostomy group than in the bypass group. Hybrid rice has contributed greatly to the self-sufficiency of food supply In China. To meet the future demand for rice production, a national program on super rice breeding was established In China In 1996. The corresponding targets, breeding strategies and most significant advances are reviewed In this paper. New plant type models have been modified to adjust to various rice growing regions. In recognition of the Importance of applying parents with Intermediate subspecies differentiation In Increasing F1 yield, medium type parental lines were selected from populations derived from Inter-subspecies crosses with the assistance of DNA markers for subspecies differentiation. Results also indicate that a substantial increase of blomass Is the basis for further enhancement of the grain yield potential, and amelioration of leaf characteristics Is helpful In Increasing the photosynthetic rate. Thirty-four super hybrid rice varieties have been released commercially, growing In a total area of 13.5 million hm2 and producing 6.7 thousand million kg more rice In 1998-2005. Spinal cord injury typically causes corticospinal tract disruption. Although the disrupted corticospinal tract can self-regenerate to a certain degree, the underlying mechanism of this process is still unclear. N6-methyladenosine(m^(6)A) modifications are the most common form of epigenetic regulation at the RNA level and play an essential role in biological processes. However, whether m^(6)A modifications participate in corticospinal tract regeneration after spinal cord injury remains unknown. We found that expression of methyltransferase 14 protein(METTL14) in the locomotor cortex was high after spinal cord injury and accompanied by elevated m^(6)A levels. Knockdown of Mettl14 in the locomotor cortex was not favorable for corticospinal tract regeneration and neurological recovery after spinal cord injury. Through bioinformatics analysis and methylated RNA immunoprecipitation-quantitative polymerase chain reaction, we found that METTL14 regulated Trib2 expression in an m^(6)A-regulated manner, thereby activating the mitogen-activated protein kinase pathway and promoting corticospinal tract regeneration. Finally, we administered syringin, a stabilizer of METTL14, using molecular docking. Results confirmed that syringin can promote corticospinal tract regeneration and facilitate neurological recovery by stabilizing METTL14. Findings from this study reveal that m^(6)A modification is involved in the regulation of corticospinal tract regeneration after spinal cord injury.

To clarify the most appropriate sample size for obtaining phenotypic data for a single line,we investigated the main-effect QTL(M-QTL) of a quantitative trait plant height(ph) in a recombinant inbred line(RIL) population of rice(derived from the cross between Xieqingzao B and Zhonghui 9308) using five individual plants in 2006 and ***-six ph phenotypic datasets from the completely random combinations of 2,3,4,and 5 plants in a single line,and five ph phenotypic datasets from five individual plants were used to detect the *** M-QTLs were detected by 1 to 31 *** these,qph7a was detected repeatedly by all the 31 ph datasets in 2006 and explained 11.67% to 23.93% of phenotypic variation;qph3 was detected repeatedly by all the 31 datasets and explained 5.21% to 7.93% and 11.51% to 24.46% of phenotypic variance in 2006 and 2009,*** results indicate that the M-QTL for a quantitative trait could be detected repeatedly by the phenotypic values from 5 individual plants and 26 sets of completely random combinations of phenotypic data within a single line in an RIL population under different *** sample size for a single line of the RIL population did not affect the efficiency for identification of stably expressed M-QTLs.

Grain-oriented silicon steels were prepared at different heating rates during high temperature annealing,in which the evolution of magnetic properties,grain orientations and precipitates were *** illustrate the Zener factor,the diameter and number density of precipitates of interrupted testing samples were statistically *** effect of precipitate ripening on the Goss texture and magnetic property was *** indicated that the trend of Zener factor was similar under different heating rates,first increasing and then decreasing,and that the precipitate maturing was greatly inhibited as the heating rate *** recrystallization was developed at the temperature of 1010℃when a heating rate of 5℃/h was used,resulting in Goss,Brass and{110}oriented grains growing abnormally and a magnetic induction intensity of ***,increasing the heating rate to 20℃/h would inhibit the development of undesirable oriented grains and obtain a sharp Goss ***,when the heating rate was extremely fast,such as 40℃/h,poor secondary recrystallization was developed with many island grains,corresponding to a decrease in magnetic induction intensity to 1.87 *** a suitable heating rate of 20℃/h,the sharpest Goss texture and the highest magnetic induction of 1.94 T with an onset secondary recrystallization temperature of 1020℃were found among the experimental variables in this *** heating rate affected the initial temperature of secondary recrystallization by controlling the maturation of precipitates,leading to the deviation and dispersion of Goss texture,thereby reducing the magnetic properties.

The paper presents experimental investigation results of crack pattern change in cement pastes caused by external sulfate attack(ESA).To visualize the formation and development of cracks in cement pastes under ESA,an X-ray computed tomography(X-ray CT)was used,i e,the tomography system of Zeiss Xradia 510 *** results indicate that X-CT can monitor the development process and distribution characteristics of the internal cracks of cement pastes under ESA with attack *** addition,the C3A content in the cement significantly affects the damage mode of cement paste specimens during sulfate *** damage of ordinary Portland cement(OPC)pastes subjected to sulfate attack with high C3A content are severe,while the damage of sulfate resistant Portland cement(SRPC)pastes is much smaller than that of OPC ***,a quadratic function describes the correlation between the crack volume fraction and development depth for two cement pastes immermed in sulfate solution.
