Li anode sideMoreover,th. use of h.lloysite switch.s th. surface of th. separator from h.droph.bic to h.droph.licconsequently improving th. electrolyte wettability and adh.sion between th. separator and cath.deWh.n sulfur-multi-walled carbon nanotube(S-MWCNT)composites are used as cath.de active materialsa lith.um–sulfur battery with.an h.M separator exh.bits first disch.rge and ch.rge capacities of 1587 an1527 m Ah.g-1,***,th.re is a consistent capacity retention up to 100 cyclesAccordingly,our approach.demonstrates an economical and easily accessible strategy for commercialization of lith.um–sulfur batteries.

AIM: To compare th. mid-term outcomes of lapa-roscopic sleeve gastrectomy(LSG) and laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass(LRYGB) in obese Korean patients. METh.DS: All consecutive patients wh. underwent eith.r LSG or LRYGB with.primary to treat morbid obesity between January 2011 and December 2012 were retrospectively reviewed. Patients with.a body mass index(BMI) ≥ 30 kg/m2 with.inadequately controlled obesity-related comorbidities(e.g., diabetes, obstructive sleep apnea, h.pertension, or obesityrelated arth.opath.) or BMI ≥ 35 kg/m2 were considered for bariatric surgery according to th. International Federation for th. Surgery of Obesity-Asia Pacific Ch.pter Consensus statements in 2011. Th. decision regarding th. procedure type was made on an individual basis following extensive discussion with.th. patient about th. specific risks associated with.each.procedure. All operative procedures were performed laparoscopically by a single surgeon experienced in upper gastrointestinal surgeries. Baseline demograph.cs, perioperative surgical outcomes, and postoperative anth.opometric data from a prospectively establish.d database were th.rough.y reviewed and compared between th. two surgical ***: One h.ndred four patients underwent LSG, and 236 underwent LRYGB. Preoperative BMI in th. LSG group was significantly h.gh.r th.n th.t of th. LRYGB group(38.6 kg/m2 vs 37.2 kg/m2, P = 0.024). Patients with.diabetes were more prevalent in th. LRYGB group(18.3% vs 35.6%, P = 0.001). Operating time and h.spital stay were significantly sh.rter in th. LSG group compared with.th. LRYGB group(100 min vs 130 min, P h. incidence of perioperative complications was similar between th. groups(P = 0.351). Th. mean percentage of excess weigh. loss(%EWL) was 71.2% for LRYGB, wh.le it was 63.5% for LSG, at mean follow-up periods of 18.0 and 21.0 mo, respectively(P = 0.073). Minimally invasive surgery for gastric cancer h.s rapidly gained popularity due to th. early detection of early gastric cancer. As advances in instruments and th. accumulation of laparoscopic experience increase, laparoscopic tech.iques are being used for less invasive but h.gh.y tech.ical procedures. Recent evidence suggests th.t th. sh.rt- and long-term outcomes of minimally invasive surgery for early gastric cancer and advanced gastric cancer are comparable to th.se of conventional open surgery. h.wever, th.se results sh.uld be confirmed by large-scale multicenter prospective randomized controlled clinical trials.

Th. evaluation of th.rapeutic efficacy is necessary to predict th. outcome of patients with.metastatic colorectal cancer(CRC). In th.se patients, th.re is a critical need for predictive ch.mosensitivity assays and biomarkers to optimize efficacy and minimize toxicity. Th. introduction of targeted agents h.s improved th. progression-free survival and overall survival of patients with.metastatic disease. h.wever, approximately 50% of patients do not sh.w a positive response to ch.moth.rapy and th. selection of patients likely to respond to a specific regimen remains ch.llenging. Cell culturebased ch.mosensitivity tests use autologous viable tumor cells to evaluate susceptibility to specific agents in vitro and predict th.ir direct effects. Adenosine triph.sph.te-based assays and meth.l th.azolyl-diph.nyltetrazolium bromide-based assays are used widely as sensitivity tests because of th.ir sh.rt assay period, tech.ical simplicity, and th. requirement of small amount of specimen. Among protein- and gene-based ch.mosensitivity assays, assessment of KRAS mutation status predicts th. response to epidermal growth.factor receptor-targeted th.rapy in CRC patients. Th. validation of predictive and prognostic markers enables th. selection of th.rapeutic regimens with.optimal efficacy and minimal toxicity for each.patient, wh.ch.h.s been termed personalized treatment. Th.s review summarizes currently available predictive and prognostic ch.mosensitivity tests for metastatic CRC.

Background In th.s study, we aimed to investigate th. relationsh.p between single-gender Korean references for non-h.gh.density lipoprotein ch.lesterol (non-h.L-C) and metabolic syndrome (MetS) in ch.ldh.od. Meth.ds A total of 5742 Korean ch.ldren aged 10–18 years wh. participated in a national survey were included. Th. sub-jects were classified into th.ee groups based on single-gender non-h.L-C levels as follows: h.gh., and ≥150 mg/dL (h.gh.. Results Males in th. borderline h.gh.non-h.L-C group h.d odds ratios (ORs) of 2.86 (95% confidence interval, 2.30–3.56) for elevated triglycerides (TG), 1.73 (1.08–1.79) for reduced h.gh.density lipoprotein ch.lesterol (h.L-C) and 1.73 (1.08–2.78) for MetS compared with.males in th. desirable non-h.L-C group after adjusting for covariates. Males in th. h.gh.non-h.L-C group h.d ORs of 1.65 (1.14–2.41) for elevated blood pressure (BP), 6.21 (4.27–9.05) for elevated TG, and 3.29 (1.49–7.26) for MetS compared with.males in th. desirable non-h.L-C group. Females in th. borderline h.gh.non-h.L-C group h.d ORs of 3.03 (2.43–3.76) for elevated TG, 1.63 (1.13–2.35) for reduced h.L-C, and 4.53 (2.47–8.31) for MetS compared with.females in th. desirable non-h.L-C group. Females in th. h.gh.non-h.L-C group h.d ORs of 1.43 (1.00–2.04) for elevated BP, 6.36 (4.45–9.08) for elevated TG, and 7.64 (3.65–15.96) for MetS compared with.females in th. desirable non-h.L-C group. Conclusion Our results suggest th.t, in a Korean population, a non-h.L-C level of 120 mg/dL for males and 150 mg/dL for females is th. th.esh.ld between borderline h.gh.and h.gh.risk for MetS.

Th.s paper describes computational work to understand th. unsteady flow-field of a sh.ck wave disch.rging from an exit of a duct and impinging upon a flat plate. A flat plate is located downstream, and normal to th. axis of th. duct. Th. distance between th. exit of th. duct and flat plate is ch.nged. In th. present study, two different duct geometries （i.e., square and cross section） are simulated to investigate th. effect of duct geometry on th. un-steady flows of a sh.ck wave. In computation, th. total variation diminish.ng （TVD） sch.me is employed to solve th.ee-dimensional, unsteady, compressible, Euler equations. Computations are performed over th. range of sh.ck Mach.number from 1.05 to 1.75. Computational results can predict th. th.ee-dimensional dynamic beh.viour of th. sh.ck wave impinging upon th. flat plate. Th. results obtained sh.w th.t th. pressure increase generated on th. plate by th. sh.ck impingement depends on th. duct geometry and th. distance between th. duct exit and plate, as well as th. sh.ck Mach.number. It is also found th.t for th. duct with.cross-section, th. unsteady loads acting on th. flat plate are less, compared with.th. square duct.
