Dear Editor,Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)is an RNA virus of the Coronaviridae family causing the outbreak and worldwide pandemic of coronavims disease 2019(COVID-19)(Zhou et al.,2020b;Zhu et al.,2020b).As an emergent and unprecedented global threat to public health,it has affected about 162 million individuals with over 3.3 million deaths until the middle of May.In attributed to the extensive studies on SARS-CoV-2,several kinds of vaccines are currently available which brings hope to human society for alleviating and eventually preventing COVID-19 epidemic(Zhu et al.,2020a;Xia et al.,2021).However,a better understanding of viral pathogenesis,particularly the viral-host interaction,are needed to develop effective interventions.

The effective plugging of artificial fractures is key to the success of temporary plugging and diverting fracturing technology,which is one of the most promising ways to improve the heat recovery efficiency of hot dry rock.At present,how temporary plugging agents plug artificial fractures under high temperature remains unclear.In this paper,by establishing an improved experimental system for the evaluation of temporary plugging performance at high temperature,we clarified the effects of high temperature,injection rate,and fracture width on the pressure response and plugging efficiency of the fracture.The results revealed that the temporary plugging process of artificial fractures in hot dry rock can be divided into four main stages:the initial stage of temporary plugging,the bridging stage of the particles,the plugging formation stage,and the high-pressure dense plugging stage.As the temperature increases,the distribution distance of the temporary plugging agent,the number of pressure fluctuations,and the time required for crack plugging increases.Particularly,when the temperature increases by 100℃,the complete plugging time increases by 90.7%.

Titanium cermet combining metallic toughness with ceramic wear resistance has been proven to be a potential candidate for implanted joint material.In this work,titanium cermet was synthesized by means of the elevated temperature solid carburizing technology.The Ti_(13)Nb_(13)Zr alloy surface was found to be converted into TiC ceramic layer combined with a carbon strengthened diffusion zone underneath.The overall thickness of the carburized region grew to about 100 um after 120 min carburization at 1,500 K.In order to clarify the growth behaviors of TiC ceramic layer,a growth mechanism is proposed.At the beginning of carburizing process,carbonaceous gas decomposed from carburizer due to high temperature and then converted to free atomic carbons through reduction reaction.Then,in-situ generated TiC ceramic layer possessing certain thickness formed on the surface,meanwhile,the inner carbon diffusion zone also grew inwards due to physical diffusion of carbon,and finally forming a gradient carbon distribution.In addition,the tribological behaviors of the new materials were evaluated through reciprocating ball-on-plate sliding wear tests in bovine calf serum.Although there was an increase in friction coefficient,the wear rate decreased by 59.6%due to the formation of the wear-resistant TiC ceramic layer.The wear mechanisms evolved from severe abrasive wear for bare Ti_(13)Nb_(13)Zr alloy to mild adhesive wear for titanium cermet.

Re-revision surgery for re-recurrent valgus deformity after revision total knee arthroplasty in a patient with a severe valgus deformity: A case report

BACKGROUND A recurrent valgus deformity was a common complication after total knee arthroplasty(TKA)in patients with valgus deformity.However,re-revision surgery for re-recurrent valgus deformity after revision TKA in patients with valgus deformity before primary TKA was uncommon.CASE SUMMARY We reported a 72-year-old female patient with two recurrent valgus deformities after TKA for a valgus knee deformity who underwent two revision surgeries to rectify the deformity.In the re-revision surgery,bone defects were successfully reconstructed by the augments and cement in combination with screws and a sleeve.An appropriate neutral alignment of the lower limb was restored by the perfect femoral entry point and the long diaphyseal cementless stem.Adequate fixation of the metaphysis and diaphysis of the femur was obtained by the sleeve and long diaphyseal cementless stem.The patient was pain-free and deformityfree for 2.5 years.CONCLUSION The management of bone defects,the choice of the stem and the femoral entry point were of vital importance in the revision or re-revision TKA for a recurrent valgus deformity.

Epidemiology and genetic characteristics of coxsackievirus A16 associated with hand-foot-and-mouth disease in Yantai city,China in 2018-2021

In 2008,China launched a national surveillance system for hand‐foot‐and‐mouth disease(HFMD).Several million cases of HFMD are reported every year,coxsackievirus A16(CVA16)was the leading cause of HFMD epidemic in Yantai city,China in recent years,but the information of epidemiology and molecular characterization of CVA16 in Yantai is limited.The aim of this study is to investigate the epidemiological characteristics and pathogenic spectrum of HFMD,and most importantly,the molecular characterization of CVA16 in Yantai from 2018 to 2021.A total of 2,000 clinical samples were collected in Yantai city from 2018 to 2021 and the enterovirus typing was performed using real‐time reverse transcriptase–polymerase chain reaction(qRT‐PCR).VP1 coding regions of 41 CVA16 isolates were amplified and Sanger sequenced,and phylogenetic analysis was performed.During the study period,HFMD became prevalent from May to August each year.It peaked in June and declined in September.The incidence was highest in children aged 1 to 5 years,while more common in males than females.1,617 out of 2,000 clinical collection of samples were tested positive for enterovirus.Among them,614 were identified as CVA16,45 were enterovirus A71(EV A17),and 958 were other enterovirus serotypes.All 41 CVA16 strains belonged to the Bla and B1b genotypes.Homology analysis showed that 41 CVA16 isolates shared 83.2%–100%nucleotide and 93.7%–100%amino acid similarity among themselves.The results of this study update molecular epidemiology of CVA16 and provide a reference for HFMD prevention and control.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)caused the persistent coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic,which has resulted in millions of deaths worldwide and brought an enormous public health and global economic burden.The recurring global wave of infections has been exacerbated by growing variants of SARS-CoV-2.In this study,the virological characteristics of the original SARS-CoV-2 strain and its variants of concern(VOCs;including Alpha,Beta,and Delta)in vitro,as well as differential transcriptomic landscapes in multiple organs(lung,right ventricle,blood,cerebral cortex,and cerebellum)from the infected rhesus macaques,were elucidated.The original strain of SARS-CoV-2 caused a stronger innate immune response in host cells,and its VOCs markedly increased the levels of subgenomic RNAs,such as N,Orf9b,Orf6,and Orf7ab,which are known as the innate immune antagonists and the inhibitors of antiviral factors.Intriguingly,the original SARS-CoV-2 strain and Alpha variant induced larger alteration of RNA abundance in tissues of rhesus monkeys than Beta and Delta variants did.Moreover,a hyperinflammatory state and active immune response were shown in the right ventricles of rhesus monkeys by the up-regulation of inflammation-and immune-related RNAs.Furthermore,peripheral blood may mediate signaling transmission among tissues to coordinate the molecular changes in the infected individuals.Collectively,these data provide insights into the pathogenesis of COVID-19 at the early stage of infection by the original SARS-CoV-2 strain and its VOCs.

Analysis of Factors Influencing Insomnia and Construction of a Prediction Model:A Cross-sectional Survey on Rescuers

Objective To determine the factors influencing insomnia and construct early insomnia warning tools for rescuers to informbest practices for early screening and intervention.Methods Cluster sampling was used to conduct a cross-sectional survey of 1,133 rescuers from one unit in Beijing,China.Logistic regression modeling and R software were used to analyze insomniarelated factors and construct a PRISM model,respectively.Results The positive rate of insomnia among rescuers was 2.74%.Accounting for participants’age,education,systolic pressure,smoking,per capita family monthly income,psychological resilience,and cognitive emotion regulation,logistic regression analysis revealed that,compared with families with an average monthly income less than 3,000 yuan,the odds ratio(OR)values and the[95%confidence interval(CI)]for participants of the following categories were as follows:average monthly family income greater than 5,000 yuan:2.998(1.307–6.879),smoking:4.124(1.954–8.706),and psychological resilience:0.960(0.933–0.988).The ROC curve area of the PRISM model(AUC)=0.7650,specificity=0.7169,and sensitivity=0.7419.Conclusion Insomnia was related to the participants’per capita family monthly income,smoking habits,and psychological resilience on rescue workers.The PRISM model’s good diagnostic value advises its use to screen rescuer early sleep quality.Further,advisable interventions to optimize sleep quality and battle effectiveness include psychological resilience training and smoking cessation.

Precision Work-piece Detection and Measurement Combining Top-down and Bottom-up Saliency

In this paper, a fast and accurate work-piece detection and measurement algorithm is proposed based on top-down feature extraction and bottom-up saliency estimation. Firstly, a top-down feature extraction method based on the prior knowledge of work- pieces is presented, in which the contour of a work-piece is chosen as the major feature and the corresponding template of the edges is created. Secondly, a bottom-up salient region estimation algorithm is proposed, where the image boundaries are labelled as background queries, and the salient region can be detected by computing contrast against image boundary. Finally, the calibration method for vision system with telecentric lens is discussed, and the dimensions of the work-pieces are measured. In addition, strategies such as image pyramids and a stopping criterion are adopted to speed-up the algorithm. An automatic system embedded with the proposed detection and measurement algorithm combining top-down and bottom-up saliency （DM-TBS） is designed to pick out defective work-pieces without any manual auxiliary. Experiments and results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

A high-accuracy DCO with hybrid architecture

In this paper, a novel hybrid digital-controlled oscillator（DCO） is proposed, which is used to improve the accuracy of the all-digital clock generator without reference source. The DCO with hybrid architecture consists of two parts： DCO_high and DCO_low. The DCO_high decides the coarse output frequency of DCO, and adopts the cascade structure to decrease the area. The DCO_low adopts the chain structure with three-state buffer, and decides the fine output frequency of DCO. Compared with traditional cascade DCO, the proposed hybrid DCO features higher precision with less inherent delay. Therefore the clock generator can tolerate process, voltage and temperature（PVT） variation and meet the needs of different conditions. The DCO is designed in SMIC 180 nm CMOS process with 0.021 mm^2 chip area. The output frequency is adjusted from 15–120 MHz. The frequency error is less than 0.83% at 25 MHz with 1.6–1.8 V supply voltage and 0–80℃ temperature variations in TT, FF,SS corners.

Tuning single-phase medium-entropy oxides derived from nanoporous NiCuCoMn alloy as a highly stable anode for Li-ion batteries

Incorporating four cations into a single-phase oxide is beneficial for maintaining structural stability during Li+insertion/desertion because of the produced entropy-dominated phase stabilization effects. However,medium-entropy oxides exhibit inherently poor electron and ion conductivity. As such, in this work, a single-phase medium-entropy oxide of Ni_(x)Cu_(y)CozMn_(1-x-y-z)O(named as NCCM@oxides(H_(2))) is prepared by modified-NiCuCoMn alloy through the epitaxial-growing-based self-combustion and hydrogen reduction. During hydrogen reduction, some Cu ions are reduced to elemental Cu(defined as Cu^(0)),which is distributed among the metal oxides, while generating extensive oxygen vacancies around Cu. The synergetic effect between nanoporous metal-core oxide-shell structure and enriched oxygen/Cu^(0) vacancies greatly enhances the electronic/ionic conductivity. In addition, the lattice of single-phase quaternary metal oxides has the configuration entropy stability, which enables the rock-salt structure to remain stable during repeated conversion reactions. Benefiting from the above-mentioned merits, the anodeforLi-ionbatterieswithentropy-stabled NCCM@oxides(H_(2)) composite shows a high specific capacity of 699 mAh·g^(-1) at 0.1 A·g^(-1) and ultra-stable cycling stability, which maintains 618 and 489 mAh·g^(-1) at 0.1 and 1.0 A·g^(-1) after 200 cycles, respectively. This is the first use of this novel and simple strategy for modifying medium-entropy oxides, which paves the way for the development of high-entropy oxides as high-performance electrodes.
