Treatment strategies and indications for interventional management of pseudoaneurysms

Background Pseudoaneurysms （PAs） are common vascular abnormalities predominantly arising from a disruption in the integrity of the arterial wall. The potential complications of PAs are usually unpredictable and carry high rates of morbidity and mortality. This paper presents our experience with various treatment strategies for PAs. Methods Fifty-four patients with 55 PAs were diagnosed by non-invasive imaging examination. The etiology of PAs included trauma （33/55）, infection （5/55）, iatrogenic （6/55）, and idiopathic （11/55）. Different procedures including ultrasound （US）-guided compression, endovascular treatment, and surgery were performed depending on the location of PAs, size of the sac and neck, and characteristics of the donor artery. The methods of endovascular treatment included embolization of parent artery, the PA sac, or implantation of a stent-graft. Follow-up was performed using US or CT and ranged from 1 day to 24 months （average 16.7 months）. Results In all 54 patients, 3 patients with superficial PAs were treated by US-guided compression, while 44 patients with 45 PAs located in the head and neck （n=20）, viscera （n=-10） or extremities （n=15） were treated by endovascular treatment. Nine patients with PAs located in the head and neck （n=2） or extremities （n=-7） were treated by surgery. Among them, one patient underwent endovascular treatment combined with surgery and 1 was treated by surgery after unsuccessful US-guided compression. In the 3 patients treated with US-guided compression, 2 were successfully treated while the remaining patient required additional surgery. Primary technical success of endovascular management was 97.7% （43/44） and the cure rate was 95.5% （42/44）. In the surgery group, 4 patients recovered well, 1 patient was cured by endovascular treatment combined with surgery, 2 cases underwent amputation, 1 patient died of multi-organ failure and 1 patient was paralysed. Image Fusion Based on Bioinspired Rattlesnake Visual Mechanism Under Lighting Environments of Day and Night Two Levels

H_1 and H_2 receptors in the locus ceruleus are involved in the intracere-broventricular histamine-induced carotid sinus baroreceptor reflex reset-ting in rats

Objective To investigate the role of H1 and H2 receptors in the locus ceruleus （LC） in carotid sinus baroreceptor reflex （CSR） resetting induced by intracerebroventricular （i.c.v.） injection of histamine （HA）. Methods The left and right carotid sinus regions were isolated from the systemic circulation in 18 male Sprague-Dawley rats anesthetized with pentobarbital sodium. The intracarotid sinus pressure （ISP） was altered in a stepwise manner in vivo. ISP-mean arterial pressure （MAP） relationship curve and its characteristic parameters were constructed by fitting to the logistic function with five parameters. The changes in CSR performance induced by i.c.v. HA and the effects of pretreatment with H1 or H2 receptors selective antagonist, chlorpheniramine （CHL） or cimetidine （CIM） into the LC, on the responses of CSR to HA were examined. Results I.c.v. HA （100 ng in 5 μl） significantly shifted the ISP-MAP relationship curve upwards （P 〈 0.05） and obviously decreased the value of the reflex parameters such as MAP range and maximum gain （P 〈 0.05）, but increased the threshold pressure, saturation pressure and ISP at maximum gain （P 〈 0.05）. The pretreatment with CHL （0.5 μg in 1 μl） or CIM （1.5 μg in 1 μl） into the LC could obviously attenuate the changes mentioned above in CSR performance induced by HA, but the alleviative effect of CIM was less remarkable than that of CHL （P 〈 0.05）. Respective microinjection of CHL or CIM alone into the LC with the corresponding dose and volume did not change CSR performance significantly （P 〉 0.05）. Conclusion Intracerebroventricular administration of HA results in a rapid resetting of CSR and a decrease in reflex sensitivity, and the responses of CSR to HA may be mediated, at least in part, by H1 and H2 receptors activities in the LC, especially by H1 receptors. Moreover, the effects of the central HA on CSR might be related to a histaminergic descending pathway from the hypothalamus to LC.

NaBH4-induced phase transition of CoSe_(2) with abundant Se deficiency for acidic oxygen reduction to hydrogen peroxide

Electrocatalytic oxygen reduction(ORR)via the 2e−pathway to form H_(2)O_(2) in acidic medium has attracted extensive ***,the low activity,insufficient selectivity and high cost of catalysts have been the ***,CoSe_(2) with abundant Se deficiency was synthesized by a simple hydrothermal method,and the addition of NaBH4-induced CoSe_(2) phase transition from orthorhombic to cubic phase with more Se *** cubic phase CoSe_(2) with abundant Se deficiency can effectively regulate the surface electronic structure with suitable binding energies of*OOH and*O,which shows high activity,selectivity and long-term stability for acidic ORR to H_(2)O_(2).The onset potential is as low as 0.73 V *** hydrogen electrode(RHE),the H_(2)O_(2) selectivity is 84%(0 V ***),and the average electron transfer number is about ***,the H_(2)O_(2) yield measured using a flow cell is as high as 115.92 mmol·gcat.^(−1)·h^(−1) and the Faradaic efficiency is 70%at 0 V ***,which presents high potential in electrocatalytic acidic ORR to H_(2)O_(2) and organic pollutant degradation using the electron-Fenton process.

Effect of Shrinkage Reducing Agent and Steel Fiber on the Fluidity and Cracking Performance of Ultra-High Performance Concrete

Due to the low water-cement ratio of ultra-high-performance concrete(UHPC),fluidity and shrinkage cracking are key aspects determining the performance and durability of this type of *** this study,the effects of different types of cementitious materials,chemical shrinkage-reducing agents(SRA)and steel fiber(SF)were *** with M2-UHPC and M3-UHPC,M1-UHPC was found to have better fluidity and shrinkage cracking ***,different SRA incorporation methods,dosage and different SF types and aspect ratios were *** incorporation of SRA and SF led to a decrease in the fluidity of *** internal content of 1%(NSRA-1%),SRA external content of 1%(WSRA-1%),STS-0.22 and STE-0.7 decreased the fluidity of UHPC by 3.3%,8.3%,9.2%and 25%,***,SRA and SF improved the UHPC shrinkage cracking ***-1%and STE-0.7 reduced the shrinkage value of UHPC by 40%and 60%,respectively,and increased the crack resistance by 338%and 175%,*** addition,the addition of SF was observed to make the microstructure of UHPC more compact,and the compressive strength and flexural strength of 28 d were increased by 26.9%and 19.9%,respectively.

Owing to the ppb-level detection standard toward the toxic and harmful gas,the detection of trace gases has become an important subject in the field of indoor environment ***,the traditional resistive gas sensors hardly meet the requirement due to the weak signal generated by trace gas molecules that are difficult to ***,a visible-light-assisted Pd/TiO_(2)gas sensor is proposed to endow the effective detection of trace formaldehyde(HCHO)gas without heating *** from the enhanced photocatalytic properties of TiO_(2)by Pd decoration,the visible-light-assisted Pd/TiO_(2)gas sensor can detect the HCHO gas as low as80×10^(–9)at room *** successful preparation of nanoscale TiO_(2)sensing layer is facilitated by the ultrathin carbon nanotube interdigital electrode in the gas sensor,which avoids the discontinuity of the sensing layer caused by the excessive thickness of the traditional metal *** addition,the whole preparation process of the Pd/TiO_(2)gas sensor with carbon nanotube electrodes is compatible with mainstream CMOS fabrication technology,which is expected to realize the batch fabrication and micro-integrated application of gas *** is expected that our work can provide a new strategy for the batch preparation of high-performance trace HCHO gas sensors and their future applications in portable electronic devices such as smartphones.

Van der Waals(VDW)heterostructures have attracted significant research interest due to their tunable interfacial properties and potential applications in many areas such as electronics,optoelectronic,and *** this work,the influences of interfacial defects on the electronic structures and photocatalytic properties of hBN/MX_(2)(M=Mo,W,and X=S,Se)are studied using density functional theory *** results reveal that the band alignment of hBN/MX_(2) can be adjusted by introducing vacancies and atomic *** type-Ⅰband alignment of the host structure is maintained in the heterostructure with n-type doping in the hBN ***,the band alignment changed into the type-Ⅱheterostructrue due to V_(B) defect and p-type doping is introduced into the hBN *** can conduce to the separation of photo-generated electron-hole pairs at the interfaces,which is highly desired for heterostructure *** addition,two Z-type heterostructures including h BN(BeB)/MoS_(2),hBN(Be_(B))/MoSe_(2),and hBN(V_(N))/MoSe_(2)are achieved,showing the decreasing of band gap and ideal redox potential for water *** results reveal the possibility of engineering the interfacial and photocatalysis properties of hBN/MX_(2) heterostructures via interfacial defects.

Pathological and physiological functional cross-talks ofα-synuclein and tau in the central nervous system

α-Synuclein and tau are abundant multifunctional brain proteins that are mainly expressed in the presynaptic and axonal compartments of neurons,*** works have revealed that intracellular deposition ofα-synuclein and/or tau causes many neurodegenerative disorders,including Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s *** intense investigation,the normal physiological functions and roles ofα-synuclein and tau are still unclear,owing to the fact that mice with knockout of either of these proteins do not present apparent ***,the co-occurrence ofα-synuclein and tau aggregates was found in post-mortem brains with synucleinopathies and tauopathies,some of which share similarities in clinical ***,the direct interaction ofα-synuclein with tau is considered to promote the fibrillization of each of the proteins in vitro and in *** the other hand,our recent findings have revealed thatα-synuclein and tau are cooperatively involved in brain development in a stage-dependent *** findings indicate strong cross-talk between the two proteins in physiology and *** this review,we provide a summary of the recent findings on the functional roles ofα-synuclein and tau in the physiological conditions and pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases.A deep understanding of the interplay betweenα-synuclein and tau in physiological and pathological conditions might provide novel targets for clinical diagnosis and therapeutic strategies to treat neurodegenerative diseases.
