An Efficient Approach for Mitigating Covert Storage Channel Attacks in Virtual Machines by the Anti-Detection Criterion

Covert channels have been an effective means for leaking confidential information across security domains and numerous studies are available on typical covert channels attacks and *** covert channel threat restriction solutions are based on the threat estimation criteria of covert channels such as capacity,accuracy,and short messages which are effective in evaluating the information transmission ability of a covert(storage)***,these criteria cannot comprehensively reflect the key factors in the communication process such as shared resources and synchronization and therefore are unable to evaluate covertness and complexity of increasingly upgraded covert storage *** a solution,the anti-detection criterion was introduced to eliminate these limitations of cover *** effective,most threat restriction techniques inevitably incur high performance overhead and hence become *** this work,we avoid such overheads and present a restriction algorithm based on the anti-detection criterion to restrict threats that are associated with covert storage channels in virtual machines while maintaining the resource efficiency of the *** evaluation shows that our proposed solution is able to counter covert storage channel attacks in an effective *** with Pump,a well-known traditional restriction algorithm used in practical systems,our solution significantly reduces the system overhead.

Bunch-length measurement at a bunch-by-bunch rate based on time–frequency-domain joint analysis techniques and its application

This paper presents a new technique for measuring the bunch length of a high-energy electron beam at a bunch-by-bunch rate in storage *** technique uses the time–frequency-domain joint analysis of the bunch signal to obtain bunch-by-bunch and turn-by-turn longitudinal parameters,such as bunch length and synchronous *** bunch signal is obtained using a button electrode with a bandwidth of several *** data acquisition device was a high-speed digital oscilloscope with a sampling rate of more than 10 GS/s,and the single-shot sampling data buffer covered thousands of *** bunch-length and synchronous phase information were extracted via offline calculations using Python *** calibration coefficient of the system was determined using a commercial streak ***,this technique was tested on two different storage rings and successfully captured various longitudinal transient processes during the harmonic cavity debugging process at the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility(SSRF),and longitudinal instabilities were observed during the single-bunch accumulation process at Hefei Light Source(HLS).For Gaussian-distribution bunches,the uncertainty of the bunch phase obtained using this technique was better than 0.2 ps,and the bunch-length uncertainty was better than 1 *** dynamic range exceeded 10 *** technology is a powerful and versatile beam diagnostic tool that can be conveniently deployed in high-energy electron storage rings.

Nitrous oxide(N_(2)O)is a long-lived greenhouse gas that mainly originates from agricultural *** and more studies have explored the sources,influencing factors and effective mitigation measures of N_(2)O in recent ***,the hierarchy of factors influencing N_(2)O emissions from agricultural soils at the global scale remains *** this study,we carry out correlation and structural equation modeling analysis on a global N_(2)O emission dataset to explore the hierarchy of influencing factors affecting N_(2)O emissions from the nitrogen(N)and non-N fertilized upland farming systems,in terms of climatic factors,soil properties,and agricultural *** results show that the average N_(2)O emission intensity in the N fertilized soils(17.83 g N ha^(-1)d^(-1))was significantly greater than that in the non-N fertilized soils(5.34 g N ha^(−1) d^(−1))(p<0.001).Climate factors and agricultural practices are the most important influencing factors on N_(2)O emission in non-N and N fertilized upland soils,*** different climatic zones,without fertilizer,the primary influence factors on soil N_(2)O emissions are soil physical properties in subtropical monsoon zone,whereas climatic factors are key in the temperate *** fertilizer,the primary influence factors for subtropical monsoon and temperate continental zones are soil physical properties,while agricultural measures are the main factors in the temperate monsoon *** enhanced agricultural practices,such as reduced N fertilizer rate combined with the addition of nitrification and urease inhibitors can potentially mitigate N_(2)O emissions by more than 60%in upland farming systems.

Stable Flocking Motion of Mobile Agents Following a Leader in Fixed and Switching Networks

Multiple mobile agents with double integrator dynamics, following a leader to achieve a flocking motion formation, are studied in this paper. A class of local control laws for a group of mobile agents is proposed. From a theoretical proof, the following conclusions are reached：（i） agents globally align their velocity vectors with a leader, （ii） they converge their velocities to the leaders velocity, （iii） collisions among interconnected agents are avoided, and （iv） agent＇s artificial potential functions are minimized. We model the interaction and/or communication relationship between agents by algebraic graph theory. Stability analysis is achieved by using classical Lyapunov theory in a fixed network topology, and differential inclusions and nonsmooth analysis in a switching network topology respectively. Simulation examples are provided.

Artemordins A-S, Cadinane-Type Sesquiterpenoid Dimers from Artemisia ordosica and Their Antihepatoma Activities

Nineteen new cadinane-involving sesquiterpenoid dimers,artemordins A-S(1-—19),together with 13 known SDs(20-32)were isolated from Artemisia *** structures and absolute configurations were established by comprehensive spectral analyses,X-ray single crystal diffraction,theoretical ECD,and NMR ***,artemordins A-F(1—6)were the first examples of two cadinane units constructed by unprecedented C-3−C-15′or C-3−C-13′single bond with an oxido-rearranged 6/5/6/6 fused ring system;artemordins G-K(7-11)were biogenetically connected by[4+2]cycloaddition reaction and artemordins G-J(7-10)possessed a novel 5/6/6/6/6/6/5-heptacyclic fused ring *** L-S(12-19)were formed by esterification,which involved three different types of *** assay suggested that the most active compounds,artemordins B and H(2 and 8),exhibited inhibitory activities on three hepatoma cell lines with IC50 values of 26.9 and 25.1μmol/L(HepG2),29.5 and 18.3μmol/L(Huh7),19.7 and 15.7μmol/L(SK-Hep-1).

Gully Impact on Soil Moisture in the Gully Bank

In order to preliminarily look at rules for soil moisture changes in the bank of the gully and to provide some recommendations for vegetative restoration in gully bank regions in the Loess Plateau, changes of soil moisture with depth and distance to the gully edge and their dynamic changes with time were observed to study the soil water characteristics in the bank of the gully. The results showed that soil water content increased with increasing distance from the gully edge, whereas for the same time period, the closer the distance to the gully wall, the greater the water loss; and that the influential distance of side evaporation decreased as depth increased.

An improved installation of 2-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzyl(iHmb)method for chemical protein synthesis

The 2-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzyl(Hmb)backbone modification can prevent amide bond-mediated sidereactions(e.g.,aspartimide formation,peptide aggregation)by installing the removable Hmb group into a peptide bond,thus improving the synthesis of long and challenging peptides and ***,its use is largely precluded by the limited Hmb’s installation *** this report,an improved installation of Hmb(iHmb)method was developed to achieve the flexible installation and the convenient removal of *** iHmb method involves two critical steps:(1)oxidative diazotization of the readily installed 2-hydroxy-4-methoxy-5-amino-benzyl(Hmab)to give 2-hydroxy-4-methoxy-5-diazonium-benzyl(Hmdab)by combining soamyl nitrite(IAN)/HBF_(4),and(2)reductive elimination of Hmdab to give the desired Hmb by 1,2-ethanedithiol(EDT).The iHmb method enables the installation of Hmb at any primary amino acid including the highly sterically hindered amino acids(e.g.,valine and isoleucine).The practicality and utility of the iHmb method was demonstrated by one-shot solid-phase synthesis of a challenging aspartimide-prone peptide,the mirror-image version of a hydrophobic peptide and a long-chain peptide up to ***,the iHmb method can be utilized to facilitate chemical protein ligation,as exemplified by the synthesis of the single-spanning membrane protein *** iHmb method expands the toolkit for peptide synthesis and ligation and facilitates the preparation of peptides/proteins.
