The development of new materials,having exceptional properties in comparison to existing materials is highly required for bringing advancement in electronic and optoelectronic *** this fact,we investigated structural,electronic,and optical properties of zincblende GaN doped with selected Zn concentrations(6.25%,12.50%,and 18.70%),using the first-principle calculations based on density functional theory with GGA+*** conducted the entire study using the WIEN2K *** this study,we calculated various significant parametric quantities such as cohesive energies,formation energies,bulk moduli,and lattice constants along with the study of optical and electronic properties by substituting Ga atoms with Zn atoms in 1×2×2 *** structural stability is confirmed by studying the phonon dispersion curves which suggest that Zn:GaN material is stable against the 6.25%and 18.70%Zn concentrations while for 12.50%,it shows *** Hubbard values U=0,2,4,6 eV were added to GGA and the electronic properties were improved with the U=6 *** absorption was blue shifted while the refractive index and dielectric constant were increased with increasing the Zn *** properties are enhanced due to the prime contribution of cations(Zn)3ri *** optical and electronic properties are further discussed in detail in the entire study.

Two-terminal(2-T)perovskite(PVK)/CuIn(Ga)Se_(2)(CIGS)tandem solar cells(TSCs)have been considered as an ideal tandem cell because of their best bandgap matching regarding to Shockley–Queisser(S–Q)***,the nature of the irregular rough morphology of commercial CIGS prevents people from improving tandem device *** this paper,D-homoserine lactone hydrochloride is proven to improve coverage of PVK materials on irregular rough CIGS surfaces and also passivate bulk defects by modulating the growth of PVK *** addition,the minority carriers near the PVK/C60 interface and the incompletely passivated trap states caused interface recombination.A surface reconstruction with 2-thiopheneethylammonium iodide and N,N-dimethylformamide assisted passivates the defect sites located at the surface and grain ***,LiF is used to create this field effect,repelling hole carriers away from the PVK and C60 interface and thus reducing *** a result,a 2-T PVK/CIGS tandem yielded a power conversion efficiency of 24.6%(0.16 cm^(2)),one of the highest results for 2-T PVK/CIGS TSCs to our *** validation underscores the potential of our methodology in achieving superior performance in PVK/CIGS tandem solar cells.

The research goal is to develop a new solar water heater system(SWHS) that uses a solar bubble pump instead of an electric *** pump is powered by the steam produced from an evacuated tube ***,heat could be transferred downward from the collector to a hot water storage *** designed system consists of two sets of heat-pipe evacuated tube collectors,a solar bubble pump installed at an upper level and a water storage tank with a heat exchanger at a lower *** heads of 1 and 5 m were *** bubble pump could operate at the collector temperature of about 90-100 ℃ and vapor gage pressure of 80-90 *** is found that water circulation within the SWHS depends on the incident solar intensity and system discharge *** investigations are conducted to obtain the system thermal efficiencies from the hourly,daily and long-term performance *** thermal performance of the proposed system is compared with conventional solar water *** results show that the proposed system achieves system characteristic efficiency of 10% higher than that of the conventional systems using electric pump if taking the consumption of electric power into *** the former is a zero carbon system.

Digital Vision Based Concrete Compressive Strength Evaluating Model Using Deep Convolutional Neural Network

Compressive strength of concrete is a significant factor to assess building structure health and ***,various methods have been developed to evaluate the compressive strength of concrete ***,previous methods have several challenges in costly,time-consuming,and *** address these drawbacks,this paper proposed a digital vision based concrete compressive strength evaluating model using deep convolutional neural network(DCNN).The proposed model presented an alternative approach to evaluating the concrete strength and contributed to improving efficiency and *** model was developed with 4,000 digital images and 61,996 images extracted from video recordings collected from concrete *** experimental results indicated a root mean square error(RMSE)value of 3.56(MPa),demonstrating a strong feasibility that the proposed model can be utilized to predict the concrete strength with digital images of their surfaces and advantages to overcome the previous *** experiment contributed to provide the basis that could be extended to future research with image analysis technique and artificial neural network in the diagnosis of concrete building structures.

Simulation of water entry of an elastic wedge using the FDS scheme and HCIB method

The hydroelasticity of water entry of an elastic wedge is simulated using a code developed using the flux-difference splitting scheme for immiscible and incompressible fluids and the hybrid Cartesian/immersed boundary method. The free surface is regarded as a moving contact discontinuity and is captured without any additional treatment along the interface. Immersed boundary nodes are distributed inside a fluid domain based on the edges that cross an instantaneous body boundary. Dependent variables are reconstructed at each immersed boundary node with the help of an interpolation along a local normal line for providing a boundary condition for a discretized flow problem. A dynamic beam equation is used for modeling the elastic deformation of a wedge. The developed code is validated through comparisons with other experimental and computational results for a free-falling wedge. The effects of the elastic deformation of the wedge on the pressure fields and time histories of the impact force are investigated in relation to the stiffness and density of the structure. Grid independence test is carried out for the computed time history of the force acting on an elastic wedge.

Implementation procedure for the generalized moving Preisach model based on a first order reversal curve diagram

First order reversal curves （FORC） of nanocomposite Nd2Fe14B/Fe3B magnetic materials were measured to attain a FORC diagram, which characterizes reversible magnetization, irreversible magnetization, and magnetic interactions in a hysteresis system. Then, generalized mov- ing Preisach model （GMPM） was implemented based on the FORC diagram. Reversible and irreversible magnetizations shown in FORCs and a FORC diagram were used as an input of GMPM. Coupling interaction between reversible and irreversible magnetizations was added when calculating reversible magnetization. Meanwhile, irreversible magnetic moments＇ interaction was approximately represented by mean field interaction. The result shows that the simulated main curves mostly coincide with the experimental curves.

Modular methods based on the use of prefabricated structures are increasingly popular for construction projects as they contribute to sustainability by reducing waste and maintenance costs as well as improving time *** short-term international events,the use of relocatable modular buildings is a potential solution to the problem of“White Elephant”structures built specially for the events that serve no useful purpose once the event is *** paper focuses on a representative relocatable modular project created for the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in South Korea using a single case study approach to develop an in-depth understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of relocatable modular construction from a practitioner’s perspective and examine how this approach supports sustainability and the Olympic *** considerations are identified for each of the five main stages:1)planning,2)design and engineering,3)manufacturing,4)construction and 5)disassembly and *** findings show how the use of relocatable modular facilities can be a useful approach for international events.

Association between cytochrome CYP17A1, CYP3A4, and CYP3A43 polymorphisms and prostate cancer risk and aggressiveness in a Korean study population

In this study, we evaluated genetic variants of the androgen metabolism genes CYP17A1, CYP3A4, and CYP3A43 to determine whether they play a role in the development of prostate cancer （PCa） in Korean men. The study population included 240 pathologically diagnosed cases of PCa and 223 age-matched controls. Among the 789 singie-nucleotide polymorphism （SNP） database variants detected, 129 were reported in two Asian groups （han Chinese and Japanese） in the HapMap database. Only 21 polymorphisms of CYP17A1, CYP3A4, and CYP3A43 were selected based on linkage disequilibrium in Asians （d = 1）, locations （SNPs in exons were preferred）, and amino acid changes and were assessed. In addition, we performed haplotype analysis for the 21 SNPs in CYP17A1, CYP3A4, and CYP3A43 genes. To determine the association between genotype and haplotype distributions of patients and controls, logistic analyses were carried out, controlling for age. Twelve sequence variants and five major haplotypes were identified in CYP17A1. Five sequence variants and two major haplotypes were identified in CYP3A4. Four sequence variants and four major haplotypes were observed in CYP3A43. CYP17A1 haplotype-2 （Ht-2）（odds ratio [OR], 1.51; 95% confidence interval [Cl], 1.04-2,18） was associated with PCa susceptibility. CYP3A4 Ht-2 （OR. 1.87; 95% CI. 1.02-3.43） was associated with PCa metastatic potential according to tumor stage, rs17115149 （OR： 1.96; 95% Ch 1.04-3.68） and CYP17A1 Ht-4 （OR： 2.01; 95% Ch 1.07-4.11） showed a significant association with histologic aggressiveness according to Gleason score. Genetic variants of CYP17A1 and CYP3A4 may play a role in the development of PCa in Korean men.

Abstract. We find the minimal free resolution of a fat star-configuration X in Pn of type （r, s,t） defined by general forms of degrees d1,...,dr, and show that a fat linear star- configuration X in P2 never has generic Hilbert function if （s,t） ≠ （1, 1） or （2, 2）. These two results generalize the interesting results of [2].

Enhancing the total organic carbon measurement efficiency for water samples containing suspended solids using alkaline and ultrasonic pretreatment methods

In this study,we investigated the effect of sample pretreatments(ultrasonication and alkaline extraction)on total organic carbon(TOC)measurements for water samples containing suspended solids(SS)of four different origins(algae,soil,sewage sludge,and leaf litter)to more clearly assess the impact of particulate organic carbon(POC)in *** effects each of ultrasonication(power,pulse,etc.)and alkaline extraction condition(concentration,time,etc.)on the TOC recovery and precision were investigated,and the results were compared with those of a new sample pre treatment method combining both *** treatment(0.01 mol/L NaOH)showed higher precision than ultrasonication(100/5 on/off pulse),and notably,the differences among the measured TOC values in samples of different origins were also further reduced in the alkaline *** suggests that the ultrasonic pretreatment results can be mainly attributed to the increase in POC recovery through particle size reduction,whereas the alkaline treatment results are achieved through the enhancement of POC *** is also particularly noteworthy that a higher TOC recovery of 87.6%±7.4%with a higher precision of 8.4%could be obtained using the combined method,compared to each treatment(ultrasonic:TOC recovery 34.7%,relative standard deviation 63.1%;alkaline:49.6%and 23.0%,respectively).Thus,simultaneous pretreatment with ultrasonication and alkaline extraction is expected to increase the oxidation rate of organic matter and the homogeneity of the samples,minimizing the loss of POC measurement values,and thereby improving the reliability of the TOC measurements of water samples containing SS.
