Myeloproliferative neoplasms(MPNs)occur due to the abnormal proliferation of one or more terminal myeloid cell lines in peripheral blood.Subjects suffering from MPNs display a high burden of cardiovascular risk factors,and thrombotic events are often the cause of death in this population of patients.Herein,we provide a brief overview of dyslipidemia and metabolic syndrome and their epidemiology in MPNs and examine the common molecular mechanisms between dyslipidemia,metabolic syndrome,and MPNs,with a special focus on cardio-vascular risk,atherosclerosis,and thrombotic events.Furthermore,we investigate the impact of dyslipidemia and metabolic syndrome on the occurrence and survival of thrombosis in MPN patients,as well as the management of dyslipidemia in MPNs,and the impact of MPN treatment on serum lipid concentrations,particularly as side/adverse effects reported in the context of clinical trials.

Numerical simulation on solidification behavior and structure of 38CrMoAl large round bloom using CAFE model

A coupled cellular automaton-finite element model was developed to simulate the solidification behavior and structure of 38CrMoAl large round bloom,in which mold electromagnetic stirring+final electromagnetic stirring was taken into consideration,under different superheat,casting speeds,and secondary cooling water flow.Industrial trials for infrared temperature measurement and macro etch experiments of the post-test round bloom samples were used to verify the simulated solidification structure and temperature field.The simulation results show that superheat and secondary cooling water flow have little influence on the surface temperature,center temperature,and center solid fraction while casting speed has a more obvious influence on solidification behavior.With the increase in the casting speed of 0.02 m min^(-1),the solidification position is prolonged by about 1.64 m.With the increasing specific water ratio by 0.02 L kg^(-1) each,the surface temperature of the secondary cooling zones decreases by about 18℃,and the solidification position shortens by about 0.11 m.As the superheat increases from 10 to 40℃,the ratio of the equiaxed crystal zone decreases from 35.98% to 23.98%.The casting speed and secondary cooling water flow increase the equiaxed crystal ratios of the large round bloom,but neither is significant,both being about 2%.

As an important treatment for acute myeloid leukemia, allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation(allo-HSCT) plays an important role in reducing relapse and improving long-term survival. With rapid advancements in basic research in molecular biology and immunology and with deepening understanding of the biological characteristics of hematopoietic stem cells, allo-HSCT has been widely applied in clinical practice. During allo-HSCT, preconditioning, the donor, and the source of stem cells can be tailored to the patient’s conditions, greatly broadening the indications for HSCT, with clear survival benefits. However, the risks associated with allo-HSCT remain high, i.e. hematopoietic reconstitution failure, delayed immune reconstitution, graft-versus-host disease, and posttransplant relapse, which are bottlenecks for further improvements in allo-HSCT efficacy and have become hot topics in the field of HSCT. Other bottlenecks recognized in the current treatment of individuals diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia and subjected to allo-HSCT include the selection of the most appropriate conditioning regimen and post-transplantation management. In this paper, we reviewed the progress of relevant research regarding these aspects.

Classical Philadelphia-negative myeloproliferative neoplasms(MPNs),i.e.,polycythemia vera,essential thrombocythemia,and primary/secondary myelofibrosis,are clonal disorders of the hematopoietic stem cell in which an uncontrolled proliferation of terminally differentiated myeloid cells occurs.MPNs are characterized by mutations in driver genes,the JAK2V617F point mutation being the most commonly detected genetic alteration in these hematological malignancies.Thus,JAK inhibition has emerged as a potential therapeutic strategy in MPNs,with ruxolitinib being the first JAK inhibitor developed,approved,and prescribed in the management of these blood cancers.However,the use of ruxolitinib has been associated with a potential risk of infection,including opportunistic infections and reactivation of hepatitis B.Here,we briefly describe the association between ruxolitinib treatment in MPNs and hepatitis B reactivation.

Effect of basicity and Al2O3 on viscosity of ferronickel smelting slag

The effect of the Al2O3 content and basicity (the molar ratio of MgO to SiO2) on the viscosity of a SiO2-MgO-FeOAl2O3-CaO slag was studied to fully understand the smelting process of the ferronickel alloy. Experimental results show that the slag is a mixture of liquid and solid phases at the experimental temperature. The viscosity decreased as the basicity increased and increased as the Al2O3 content increased. To determine the effect of the Al2O3 content and basicity on the structure of the molten slag, Raman spectroscopy was performed on the slag sample, which was quenched from the high temperature with water. The Raman spectra showed that the fractions of the polymerization structural units decreased significantly as the basicity of the slag increased, resulting in a decrease in the apparent viscosity. However, Al2O3 acts as a network former in the slag system, thereby making the slag structure further polymerized and increasing the viscosity.

Intra-abdominal inflammatory pseudotumor-like follicular dendritic cell sarcoma associated with paraneoplastic pemphigus: A case report and review of the literature

BACKGROUD Follicular dendritic cell(FDC)sarcomas are rare neoplasms that occur predominantly in the lymph nodes.They can also occur extranodally.Extranodal FDC sarcomas most commonly present as solitary masses.Inflammatory pseudotumor(IPT)-like FDC sarcomas,a subcategory of FDC sarcomas,are rarer than other sarcoma subtypes.They are composed of spindle or ovoid neoplastic cells and exhibit an admixture of plasma cells and prominent lymphoplasmacytic infiltration.Paraneoplastic pemphigus(PNP),also known as paraneoplastic autoimmune multiorgan syndrome,is a rare autoimmune bullous disease that is associated with underlying neoplasms.PNP has a high mortality,and its early diagnosis is usually difficult.CASE SUMMARY We describe a 27-year-old woman who presented with stomatitis,conjunctivitis,and skin blisters and erosions as her first symptoms of PNP with an intraabdominal IPT-like FDC sarcoma.The patient underwent surgical tumor resection and received tapering oral corticosteroid treatment.She showed no recurrence at the 1-year follow-up.CONCLUSION IPT-like FDC sarcomas are rare underlying neoplasms that have an uncommon association with PNP.PNP-associated FDC sarcomas predominantly occur in intra-abdominal sites and suggest a poor prognosis.Surgical resection is an essential and effective treatment for PNP and primary and recurrent FDC sarcomas.

Objectives:Describe the dermoscopy and reflectance confocal microscopy(RCM) features of SGH.Methods:Thirty-one patients with SGH diagnosed according to the clinical and histopathological standards were examined using dermoscopy and RCM from March 2018 to January 2022.Results:Dermoscopically,lesions revealed yellowish-red background and faintyellow background in 25 cases(80.65%) and 6 cases(19.35%) respectively.White-yellowish lobulated structures in the center of the lesion were presented in 31 cases(100%) and umbilications in 19 patients(61.29%).Crown vessels in the peripheral of the lesions were observed in 11 cases(35.48%) while irregular linear vessels on the surface of the lesions in 18 cases(58.06%).Under the RCM,all lesions presented a honeycombed pattern in the epidermis and typical morulae-shaped sebaceous lobules in dermis.Dilated follicular infundibulum was observed in 15 cases(48.39%) and dilated vessels in 26 cases(83.87%).Conclusion:Dermoscopy and RCM enable us to describe the imaging features of SGH.Combing the two useful tools together provides a non-invasive basis for the accuracy of clinical diagnosis.

On the Probability of Generating a Primitive Matrix

Given a k × n integer primitive matrix A（i.e., a matrix can be extended to an n × n unimodular matrix over the integers） with the maximal absolute value of entries ‖A‖ bounded by an integer λ from above, the authors study the probability that the m × n matrix extended from A by appending other m-k row vectors of dimension n with entries chosen randomly and independently from the uniform distribution over {0, 1, · · ·, λ-1} is still primitive. The authors present a complete and rigorous proof of a lower bound on the probability, which is at least a constant for fixed m in the range[k + 1, n-4]. As an application, the authors prove that there exists a fast Las Vegas algorithm that completes a k × n primitive matrix A to an n × n unimodular matrix within expected ?（nωlog ‖A‖） bit operations, where ? is big-O but without log factors, ω is the exponent on the arithmetic operations of matrix multiplication.
