Measles outbreaks in the Kyeongin area of the Republic of Korea,2013-2014:A single-center experience in a country of measles elimination

Objective: To identify the source of infection and determine the clinical features and laboratory finding of measles infection,Methods: In 27 measles patients,except for 3 adult patients,the rest of 24 pediatric measles cases were analyzed with regard to age,sex,immunization status,transmission routes and molecular genotyping of measles virus,Eighteen measles patients who admitted in isolation ward were set apart to investigate clinical findings and its correlation with laboratory characteristics,Retrospective analysis of cases was conducted in this study,Results: Of the 24 pediatric patients,23(95.8%) had not received any measles-containing vaccine(MCV),Sixteen of the patients(66.7%) were aged <12 months,The suspicious index case of a girl aged 34 months was not vaccinated with MCV1 and got measles after a trip to Philippines,and molecular genotype was revealed as B3,Measles outbreaks in the community such as a restaurant were followed by this one imported case,According to analysis of 18 patients admitted in isolation ward,the median level of C-reactive protein(CRP) was 0.38 mg/d L and that of lactate dehydrogenase(LDH) was 1 200 IU/L,All of the 18 patients had LDH levels above the normal range,Age correlated with CRP(ρ = 0.528,P = 0.024) and LDH(ρ = 0.501,P = 0.034),The duration of fever was correlated with the duration of fever before rash(ρ = 0.898,P < 0.01),The duration of hospitalization was correlated with CRP(ρ = 0.586,P = 0.011),The white blood cell counts were correlated with the levels of LDH(ρ = 0.505,P = 0.033),aspartate aminotransferase(ρ = 0.507,P = 0.032),and alanine aminotransferase(ρ = 0.481,P = 0.043),Conclusions: Early weaning of maternally derived measles antibodies therefore vaccination of MCV1 at a young age from 9 months to 12 months should be considered in situations of early exposure,Furthermore there is a call for consideration of scheduling an earlier age for the first dose of MMR vaccine in Europe,It is necessary for Korea to investigat

Facial Expression Recognition by Split Rectangle Based Adaboost

The facial expression recognition systn using the Ariaboost based on the Split Rectangle feature is proposed in this paper. This system provides more various featmes in increasing speed and accuracy than the Haarolike featrue of Viola, which is commonly used for the Adaboost training algorithm. The Split Rectangle feature uses the nmsk-like shape composed with 2 independent rectangles, instead of using mask-like shape of Haar-like feature, which is composed of 2 --4 adhered rectangles of Viola. Split Rectangle feature has less di- verged operation than the Haar-like feaze. It also requires less oper- ation because the stun of pixels requires ordy two rectangles. Split Rectangle feature provides various and fast features to the Adaboost, which produrces the strong classifier with increased accuracy and speed. In the experiment, the system had 5.92 ms performance speed and 84 %--94 % accuracy by leaming 5 facial expressions, neutral, happiness, sadness, anger and surprise with the use of the Adaboost based on the Split Rectangle feature.

Separated Same Rectangle Feature for Face Detection

The paper proposes a new method of ＂Separated Same Rectangle Feature （SSRF）＂ for face detection. Generally, Haar-like feature is used to make an Adaboost training algorithm with strong classifier. Haar-like feature is composed of two or more attached same rectangles. Inefficiency of the Haar-like feature often results from two or more attached same rectangles. But the proposed SSRF are composed of two separated same rectangles. So, it is very flexible and detailed. Therefore it creates more accurate strong classifier than Haar-like feature. SSRF uses integral image to reduce execuive time. Haar-like feature calculates the Sanl of intmsities of pixels on two or more rectangles. But SSRF always calculates the stun of intensities of pixels on only two rectangles. The weak classifier of Ariaboost algorithm based on SSRF is fastex than one based on Haar-like feature. In the experiment, we use 1 000 face images and 1 000nm- face images for Adaboost training. The proposed SSRF shows about 0.9% higher acctwacy than Haar-like features.

Background:Immune checkpoint inhibitors(ICIs)are effective in a subset of patients with metastatic solid ***,the patients who would benefit most from ICIs in biliary tract cancer(BTC)are still *** and methods:We molecularly characterized tissues and blood from 32 patients with metastatic BTC treated with the ICI pembrolizumab as second-line ***:All patients had microsatellite stable(MSS)type *** of the 32 patients achieved partial response(PR),with an objective response rate(ORR)of 9.4%(95%confidence interval[CI],2.0–25.2)and nine showed stable disease(SD),exhibiting a disease control rate(DCR)of 37.5%(95%CI,21.1–56.3).For the 31 patients who had access to PD-1 ligand 1(PD-L1)combined positive score(CPS)testing(cut-off value≥1%),the ORR was not different between those who had PD-L1-positive(PD-L1+;1/11,9.1%)and PDL1-(2/20,10.0%)tumors(p=1.000).The tumor mutational burden(TMB)of PD-L1+BTC was comparable to that of PD-L1-BTC(p=0.630).TMB and any exonic somatic mutations were also not predictive of pembrolizumab *** analysis of blood and tumor samples demonstrated a relatively high natural killer(NK)cell proportion in the peripheral blood before pembrolizumab treatment in patients who achieved tumor ***,the tumors of these patients presented high enrichment scores for NK cells,antitumor cytokines,and Th1 signatures,and a low enrichment score for cancer-associated ***:This study shows the molecular characteristics associated with the efficacy of pembrolizumab in BTC of the MSS type.

Atomic-scale insights into microscopic mechanisms of grain boundary segregation in Al−Cu alloys

This study aims to clarify the mechanisms for the grain boundary(GB)segregation through investigating the absorption of excess solute atoms at GBs in Al−Cu alloys by using the hybrid molecular dynamics/Monte Carlo *** segregation mechanisms,substitutional and interstitial mechanisms,are *** intergranular defects,including dislocations,steps and vacancies,and the intervals in structural units are conductive to the prevalence of interstitial *** substitutional mechanism is favored by the highly ordered twin ***,the two mechanisms affect the GB structure *** is quantified that interstitial mechanism is less destructive to GB structure than substitutional one,and often leads to a segregation level being up to about 6 times higher than the *** findings contribute to atomic scale insights into the microscopic mechanisms about how solute atoms are absorbed by GB structures,and clarify the correlation among intergranular structures,segregation mechanisms and kinetics.

Spatiotemporal Variation and Influencing Factors of Atmospheric CO_(2) Concentration in China

Rapid increases in Carbon dioxide(CO_(2))levels could trigger unpredictable climate *** assessment of spatiotempor-al variation and influencing factors of CO_(2) concentration are helpful in understanding the source/sink balance and supporting the formu-lation of climate *** this study,Greenhouse Gases Observing Satellite(GOSAT)data were used to explore the variability of CO_(2) concentrations in China from 2009 to *** parameters,vegetation cover,and anthropogenic activities were combined to explain the increase in CO_(2) concentration,using pixel-based correlations and Covariance Based Structural Equation Modeling(CB-SEM)*** results showed that the influence of vertical CO_(2) transport diminished with altitude,with a distinct inter-annual in-crease in CO_(2) concentrations at 17 vertical ***,the highest values were observed in East China,whereas the lowest were observed in Northwest *** were significant seasonal variations in CO_(2) concentration,with maximum and minimum values in spring(April)and summer(August),*** to the pixel-based correlation analysis,the near-surface CO_(2) concentration was positively correlated with population(r=0.99,P0.05),soil water(r=0.29,P>0.05),nightlight(r=0.28,P>0.05);and negatively correlated with wind speed(r=−0.58,P<0.05).CB-SEM analysis revealed that LAI was the most important con-trolling factor explaining CO_(2) concentration variation(total effect of 0.66),followed by emissions(0.58),temperature(0.45),precipita-tion(0.30),wind speed(−0.28),and soil water(−0.07).The model explained 93% of the increase in CO_(2) *** results provide crucial information on the patterns of CO_(2) concentrations and their driving mechanisms,which are particularly significant in the context of climate change.

Impacts of near-M_(s)austempering treatment on microstructure evolution and bainitic transformation kinetics of a medium Mn steel

The microstructure evolution and bainitic transformation of an Fe-0.19C-4.03Mn-1.48Si steel subjected to near-M_(s)austempering treatment were systematically investigated by combining dilatometer,X-ray diffraction,and electron *** additional austempering treatments with isothermal temperatures above M_(s)were used as *** show that the incubation period for the bainitic transformation occurs when the medium Mn steel is treated with the austempering temperature above M_(s).However,when subjected to near-M_(s)isothermal treatment,the medium Mn steel does not show an incubation period and has the fastest bainitic transformation ***,the largest volume fraction of bainite with a value of 74.7%is obtained on the condition of near-M_(s)austempering treatment after cooling to room *** and microstructure evolution analysis indicates that the elimination of the incubation period and the fastest rate of bainitic transformation are related to the preformed *** advent of preformed martensite allows the specimen to generate more bainite in a limited *** bainitic ferrite nucleation at austenite grain boundaries and through autocatalysis at ferrite/austenite interfaces,a model is established to understand the kinetics of bainite formation and it can describe the nucleation rate of bainitic transformation well when compared to the experimental results.

In situ measurement of environmental γ radiation dose rates of key nuclides for large radioactive surface sources

To monitor nuclear and radiation emergencies,it is crucial to obtain accurate in situ measurements of the environmentalγ radiation dose rate from key radionuclides,particularly for large radioactive surface *** methods currently used for measuring dose rates are inadequate for obtaining the dose rates of key radionuclides and have large angular response errors when monitoring surface *** address this practical problem,this study proposes three methods for measuring the dose rate:the weighted peak total ratio,mean value regression,and numerical integration *** methods are based on energy-spectrum measurement data,and they were theoretically derived and numerically ***,a 1-m-long hexagonal radioactive surface source was integrated into a larger surface *** situ measurement experiments were conducted on a large radioactive surface source using a dose-rate meter and a portable HPGespectrometer to analyze the errors of the three aforementioned methods and verify their validity.
