BACKGROUND Rebleeding after recovery from esophagogastric variceal bleeding(EGVB)is a severe complication that is associated with high rates of both incidence and *** its clinical importance,recognized prognostic models that can effectively predict esophagogastric variceal rebleeding in patients with liver cirrhosis are *** To construct and externally validate a reliable prognostic model for predicting the occurrence of esophagogastric variceal *** This study included 477 EGVB patients across 2 cohorts:The derivation cohort(n=322)and the validation cohort(n=155).The primary outcome was rebleeding events within 1 *** least absolute shrinkage and selection operator was applied for predictor selection,and multivariate Cox regression analysis was used to construct the prognostic *** validation was performed with bootstrap *** assessed the discrimination,calibration and accuracy of the model,and performed patient risk *** Six predictors,including albumin and aspartate aminotransferase concentrations,white blood cell count,and the presence of ascites,portal vein thrombosis,and bleeding signs,were selected for the rebleeding event prediction following endoscopic treatment(REPET)*** predicting rebleeding within 1 year,the REPET model ex-hibited a concordance index of 0.775 and a Brier score of 0.143 in the derivation cohort,alongside 0.862 and 0.127 in the validation ***,the REPET model revealed a significant difference in rebleeding rates(P<0.01)between low-risk patients and intermediate-to high-risk patients in both *** We constructed and validated a new prognostic model for variceal rebleeding with excellent predictive per-formance,which will improve the clinical management of rebleeding in EGVB patients.

Holocene Vegetation and Climate Changes in the Huangqihai Lake Region, Inner Mongolia

A consensus on Holocene climate variability at the modern northern fringe of the East Asian summer monsoon(EASM) region remains elusive. Here, we present a pollen-based reconstruction of vegetation history and associated climate variations of a sediment core from Huangqihai Lake, central Inner Mongolia. During 10.7 to 8.8 cal kaBP, typical steppe with small patches of forest dominated the lake area, suggesting a moderately wet climate, followed by ameliorating climatic conditions until 8.0 cal kaBP as deduced by the expansion of forest. Typical steppe recovered the lake area between 8.0 and 7.2 cal kaBP, reflecting a deterioration of climatic conditions;in combination with other proxy records in the study region, we noticed that severe aridity was prevailed in the lake area between 8.0 and 7.6 cal kaBP. During 7.2 to 3.2 cal kaBP, abundant tree pollen indicated dominance of forest-steppe around the lake, marking regionally wet conditions. A notable absence of broadleaved trees after 5.2 cal kaBP reveals a slight drying trend, and climate deterioration from 4.5 to 4.1 cal kaBP might be linked to the 4.2 ka event. After 3.2 cal kaBP, a transition to steppe was associated with dry conditions in the region. Based on our pollen record and prior paleoclimatic reconstructions in the Huangqihai Lake region, there was a generally-accepted, stepwise shift to a wet climate during the early Holocene, an overall humid climate from 7.2 to 3.2 cal kaBP, and then severe drought for the rest of the Holocene. Moreover, regional comparisons among pollen records derived from lakes situated in the temperate steppe region suggested a roughly synchronous pattern of vegetation and climate changes during the Holocene and demonstrated an intensified EASM during the middle Holocene.

Even Search in a Promising Region for Constrained Multi-Objective Optimization

In recent years, a large number of approaches to constrained multi-objective optimization problems(CMOPs) have been proposed, focusing on developing tweaked strategies and techniques for handling constraints. However, an overly finetuned strategy or technique might overfit some problem types,resulting in a lack of versatility. In this article, we propose a generic search strategy that performs an even search in a promising region. The promising region, determined by obtained feasible non-dominated solutions, possesses two general ***, the constrained Pareto front(CPF) is included in the promising region. Second, as the number of feasible solutions increases or the convergence performance(i.e., approximation to the CPF) of these solutions improves, the promising region shrinks. Then we develop a new strategy named even search,which utilizes the non-dominated solutions to accelerate convergence and escape from local optima, and the feasible solutions under a constraint relaxation condition to exploit and detect feasible regions. Finally, a diversity measure is adopted to make sure that the individuals in the population evenly cover the valuable areas in the promising region. Experimental results on 45 instances from four benchmark test suites and 14 real-world CMOPs have demonstrated that searching evenly in the promising region can achieve competitive performance and excellent versatility compared to 11 most state-of-the-art methods tailored for CMOPs.

Seismological challenges in earthquake hazard reductions:reflections on the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake

The Wenchuan earthquake is a natural disaster. Its occurrence and aftermath have demonstrated the critical roles of seismology and earthquake engineering in reducing seismic hazards and damages. However,their existing limitations should also be underscored. This article summarized and reviewed the current scientific understanding of earthquake ruptures, and new insights gained since the Wenchuan event. This study focused on the related challenges to seismology and earthquake engineering as follows:(1) The under-estimation of earthquake risks before occurrences.(2) The current limited data regarding large earthquakes in continental thrust fault systems.(3) The causal relationship between the Wenchuan earthquake and the reservoir impoundment in its vicinity.(4) The identification of low-velocity zone in the crust and its seismogenical role.(5) The casualties and economic losses from a cascade of diverse natural hazards triggered by the ruptures, and the excellent earthquake resistance associated with tunnels in mountainous terrain.

CFD SIMULATION OF FLUID CATALYTIC CRACKING IN DOWNER REACTORS

A mathematical model has been developed for the simulation of gas-particle flow and fluid catalytic cracking in downer reactors. The model takes into account both cracking reaction and flow behavior through a four-lump reaction kinetics coupled with two-phase turbulent flow. The prediction results show that the relatively large change of gas velocity affects directly the axial distribution of solids velocity and void fraction, which significantly interact with the chemical reaction. Furthermore, model simulations are carried out to determine the effects of such parameters on product yields, as bed diameter, reaction temperature and the ratio of catalyst to oil, which are helpful for optimizing the yields of desired products. The model equations are coded and solved on CFX4.4.

In this paper,the electronic structure and stability of the intrinsic,B-,N-,Si-,S-doped graphene are studied based on first-principles calculations of density functional ***,the intrinsic,B-,N-,Si-,S-doped graphene structures are optimized,and then the forming energy,band structure,density of states,differential charge density are analyzed and *** results show that Band Si-doped systems are p-type doping,while N is n-type *** comparing the forming energy,it is found that N atoms are more easily doped in *** addition,for B-,N-,Si-doped systems,it is found that the doping atoms will open the band gap,leading to a great change in the band structure of the doping ***,we systematically study the optical properties of the different *** comparison,it is found that the order of light sensitivity in the visible region is as follows:S-doped>Si-doped>pure>B-doped>*** results will provide theoretical guidance for the stability and electronic structure of non-metallic doped graphene.

Pruning-aware Sparse Regularization for Network Pruning

Spatiotemporal Evolution Characteristics Study on the Precipitation Infiltration Recharge over the Past 50 Years in the North China Plain

The spatiotemporal evolution characteristics of precipitation infiltration recharge during the past 50 years are discussed in this paper. This research is significant for groundwater resource rational utilization. The distribution of precipitation infiltration recharge coefficients in the 1960 s, 1980 s, and 2000 s can be obtained using unsaturated zone lithology and depth to water table at different times. The amount of precipitation infiltration recharge in the 1960 s, 1980 s, and 2000 s can be calculated using precipitation infiltration recharge coefficients and precipitation data from the Ministry of Water Resources of China. Results show that the change in the precipitation infiltration recharge coefficient is closely related to the water table decrease. From the 1960 s to the 1980 s, the precipitation infiltration recharge coefficient clearly increased in all units. From the 1980 s to the 2000 s, the value slightly increased in the ancient Yellow River alluvial-proluvial and eastern alluvial-marine plains and slightly decreased in the piedmont alluvial-proluvial and central alluvial-lacustrine plains. The piedmont alluvial-proluvial and ancient Yellow River alluvial-proluvial plains exhibited a large precipitation infiltration recharge coefficient for the coarse lithology. The amounts of precipitation infiltration recharges were 16.23×109（1960s）, 19.11×109（1980s）, and 19.42×109 m3/a（2000s）. The amount of precipitation infiltration recharge increased from the 1960 s to the 1980 s then decreased from the 1980 s to the 2000 s in the piedmont alluvial-proluvial and the central alluvial-lacustrine plains. However, this value increased from the 1960 s to the 2000 s in the ancient Yellow River alluvial-proluvial and eastern alluvial-marine plains.

Successful treatment of refractory gastric antral vascular ectasia by distal gastrectomy:A case report

Gastric antral vascular ectasia (GAVE) is an uncommon and often neglected cause of gastric hemorrhage. The treatments for GAVE include surgery, endoscopy and medical therapies. Here, we report an unusual case of GAVE. A 72-year-old man with a three-month history of recurrent melena was diagnosed with GAVE. Endoscopy revealed the classical “watermelon stomach” appearance of GAVE and complete pyloric involvement. Melena reoccurred three days after argon plasma coagulation treatment, and the level of hemoglobin dropped to 47 g/L. The patient was then successfully treated with distal gastrectomy with Billroth II anastomosis. We propose that surgery should be considered as an effective option for GAVE patients with extensive and severe lesions upon deterioration of general conditions and hemodynamic instability.

Recent Advances on Chiral Mobile Phase Additives: A Critical Review

Chirality is one of the fundamental attributes of nature, which exists in different or even completely opposite metabolic,toxicological and pharmacological properties in organisms. Consequently, obtaining enantiomerically pure drugs or optically active intermediates is highly desired in many fields like medicine, food and biochemistry. Thereby, it also promoted the development of various enantiomer selective separation techniques. Among the many chiral separation methods, chiral mobile phase additives(CMPAs) are widely used in various chromatographic techniques due to their simple operation,good versatility and low price. There have been a number of reviews on the research progress of CMPAs in last 2 decades,but they only reviewed the application of CMPAs in one specific chromatographic technique. Therefore, to provide a more comprehensive illustration of CMPAs in separation technology, their applications in high-performance liquid chromatography, capillary electrophoresis, countercurrent chromatography, nano-liquid chromatography were summarized and their advantages and disadvantages were briefly introduced in this critical review. The application of molecular simulation in the study of chiral separation mechanism was briefly summarized. We expect that it will provide researchers with the latest developments in this field and potential inspirations.
