Lithium–sulfur batteries are one of the attractive next-generation energy storage systems owing to theienvironmental friendliness,low cost,and high specific energy ***,the low electrical conductivity of sulfur,shuttling of soluble intermediate polysulfides between electrodes,and low capacitretention have hampered their commercial *** address these issues,we use a halloysitemodulated(H-M)separator in a lithium–sulfur battery to mitigate the shuttling *** H-M separator acts as a mutual Coulombic repulsion in lithium-sulfur batteries,thereby selectively permitting Lions and efficiently suppressing the transfer of undesired lithium polysulfides to the Li anode sideMoreover,the use of halloysite switches the surface of the separator from hydrophobic to hydrophilicconsequently improving the electrolyte wettability and adhesion between the separator and cathodeWhen sulfur-multi-walled carbon nanotube(S-MWCNT)composites are used as cathode active materialsa lithium–sulfur battery with an H-M separator exhibits first discharge and charge capacities of 1587 an1527 m Ah g-1,***,there is a consistent capacity retention up to 100 cyclesAccordingly,our approach demonstrates an economical and easily accessible strategy for commercialization of lithium–sulfur batteries.

Glacio-isostatic adjustment(GIA)and tectonic activity are important factors in the formation of marine *** Holocene wave-cut benches in the eastern part of the West Sea of Korea,also called the Yellow Sea,can be divided into two steps:531 cm above sea level(ASL)for the upper bench(T2)and 464-481 cm ASL for the lower bench(T1).Sediments on the benches a re classified into four units,and are interpreted to be beach deposits acco rding to gravel shape,textu re,and seaward *** ove rlying sediment indicates that T2 was formed at approximately 530 cm ASL before 2900 yr BP,and T1 at approximately 460-480 cm ASL before 1520 yr *** Holocene(4000-2000 yr BP)relative sea level(RSL)curves based on GIA models are inconsistent with the wave-cut bench *** T1 and T2 benches to the RSL curves of the West Sea,the upper and the lower benches were uplifted by approximately 5-8 m and 4-7 m,*** the area is several hundred kilometers away from plate boundaries,the high frequency of earthquakes in the West Sea may have induced the uplift of wave-cut benches during the last 2000 *** indicate that the west coast of the Korean Peninsula(KP)should no longer be considered an area of subsidence,but be assigned to a regime of uplift during the late Holocene.

Centrifugal pumps are being widely used in many industrial and commercial *** of these pumps are being operated at constant speed but could provide energy savings through adjustable speed *** purpose of this study was to get the energy saving rates of the multistage centrifugal pump with variable speed *** this investigation an experimental set up of variable flow and pressure system was made to get energy saving rates and numerical analyses are applied to validate the pump *** energy saving and therefore the cost saving depends on the specific duty cycle of which the machine *** cycle is the proportion of time during which a component,device and system is *** duty cycle segmented into different flow rates and weighting the average value for each segment by the interval *** system was operated at 50%or less of the pump *** input power of the system was carried out by pump characteristics curve of each operating *** energy consumption was done by the product of specific duty cycle and the input power of the system for constant speed and variable speed drive *** total energy consumed for constant speed drive pump was 75,770 k *** and for variable speed drive pump was 31,700 k *** total energy saving of the system was 44,070 k *** or 58.16%***,this paper suggests a method of implementing an energy saving on variable-flow and pressure system of the multistage centrifugal pump.

Analysis of the Sloshing Flows of a LNG Cargo Tank

The sloshing flows in a LNG cargo tank model （1/50 scale） of a ship are measured by an embedded pano- ramicPIV system. The measurement system consists of a Nd-Yag laser（120mJ, 15Hz）, two cameras（lk x lk） and a host computer. Four experimental cases were tested for the tank model, in which swaying motions are made by a 6 DOF-motion platform. The amplitudes of swaying are 9.76mm and 29.29mm, and the swaying frequencies are 0.633Hz and 0.828Hz. The measurement regions are the vertical plane 50ram away from the front wall of the tank where a pump tower is installed. It was verified that the flow patterns of the sloshing are similar to each other when the swaying amplitudes are similar.

In this research, the morphologies, isothermal-crystallization kinetics, and spherulite growth of aliphatic polyketone/polyamide-6 blends were studied. A single glass-transition temperature （Tg） was determined, and the composition dependence of Tg for these blends was well described by the Kwei equation. The strong intermolecular interaction between the two polymer components was confirmed by melting-point depression. The isothermal-crystallization kinetics were analyzed on the basis of the Avrami approach. A linear increase in the radii of the spherulites with time was observed for all compositions. All the spherulites continued to grow at nearly identical growth rates. With increasing polyamide-6 content, the size of the spherulites in the polyketone/polyamide-6 blends gradually decreased, and the number of spherulites in the blends increased.

The formation and evolution of glacier moraine-dammed lakes are closely related to past glacier expansion and retreat. Geomorphic markers such as lacustrine terraces and beach ridges observed in these lakes provide important evidence for regional paleoenvironment reconstruction. We document the magnitude of paleo-shoreline fluctuations and timings of highstands of lake water by using cosmogenic 10Be surface exposure dating and optically stimulated luminescence(OSL) dating on samples collected from lacustrine sediment and bedrock strath in Lake Khagiin Khar. The lake was initially impounded by glacier moraine at the Global Last Glacial maximum(gLGM;21–19 ka), and the lake reached its maximum paleo-shoreline level of 1840 m at sea level(a.s.l.). At that time, the stored lake water amount was up to seven times greater and the surface area was three times larger than the present values. The paleolake experienced higher shoreline levels at 1832, 1822, and 1817 m a.s.l. and reached the present lake level after 0.4 ka. We interpret that decrease in the paleolake level was caused by spillover. The increase in melt water after the gLGM and the Late Glacial exceeded the storage threshold of the lake, and the paleolake water overflowed across the lowest drainage divides. The lake spilled over across the lowest bedrock ridge at 15.9 ± 0.6 ka, and the outlet was incised since that time at a rate of 3.72 ± 0.15 mm/yr. The initial stream of the Khiidiin Pass River was disturbed by LGM moraine damming and was rerouted into the present course running through moraine after the spillover at 15.9 ± 0.6 ka.

The innate immune response to invading viruses is critical for the mounting of protective immunity,in which type I interferons(IFN),for example,IFN-αandβ,are potent effector molecules.1 Most cell types,particularly fibroblasts and epithelial cells,produce IFN-β,whereas hematopoietic cells,notably plasmacytoid dendritic cells,are the predominant sources of IFN-α.IFNs potently stimulate a variety of innate and adaptive immune cells,including macrophages,NK cells and T *** binding of type I IFN to its cognate receptor triggers the activation of the Janus kinase signal transducer and activator of transcription pathway,which results in the transcription of IFNstimulated genes that play key roles in host resistance to viral infections.

Studies from the Far East have demonstrated that D2-dissection is superior to D0/1-dissection. The effect of postoperative chemoradiotherapy(CRT) after D2-dissection has not been accepted due to the lack of D2-dissection in Western countries, as well as the potential harmful effect of radiotherapy. In the current NCCN guideline, adjuvant chemotherapy alone is recommended in D2-dissected patients. However, three recent prospective randomized controlled trials in South Korea and China(ARTIST, NCC and Multicenter IMRT Trials) demonstrated that adjuvant CRT can be safely administered to D2-dissected patients with notable benefits. To identify the role of radiotherapy(RT) in the D2-dissected postoperative setting, clinical research attempts should include(1) identification of high-risk patients for loco-regional recurrence who might benefit from CRT;(2) modification of RT target volume based on the findings that failure patterns should be different after D1- and D2-dissection; and(3) integration of new RT techniques to decrease treatment-related toxicity. The present paper is a review of recent studies addressing these fields. Well-designed prospective randomized studies are needed to clearly define the role of adjuvant CRT in D2-dissected gastric cancer, however, future clinical studies should also focus on answering these questions.

Chinese cabbage was cultivated in upland soil with the addition of biochar in order to investigate the potential for reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. Barley straw biochar(BSB) was introduced in a Wagner pot(1/5000a) in amounts of 0(BSB0, control), 100(BSB100), 300(BSB300), and 500(BSB500) kg 10a^(-1). After the addition of BSB into the upland soil, carbon dioxide(CO_2) emission increased while methane(CH_4) and nitrous oxide(N_2O) emissions decreased. The highest CO2 flux was measured for the BSB500 sample,(84.6 g m^(-2)) followed by BSB300, BSB100, and BSB0 in decreasing order. Relative to those of control, the total CH_4 flux and N_2O flux for the BSB500 treatment were lower by 31.6% and 26.1%, respectively. The global warming potential(GWP) of the treatment without biochar was 281.4 g CO_2 m-2 and those for treatments with biochar were in the range from 194.1 to 224.9 g CO_2 m^(-2). Therefore, introducing BSB into upland soil to cultivate Chinese cabbages can reduce the global warming potential.
