Twist1-induced miR-199a-3p promotes liver fibrosis by suppressing caveolin-2 and activating TGF-βpathway

The activation of hepatic stellate cells(HSCs)participates in liver fibrosis,and emerging evidences indicate that microRNAs(miRNAs)are abnormally expressed during HSC ***,the potential roles of miRNAs in liver fibrosis still remain ***,this study aimed to investigate the role of miR-199a-3p in liver fibrosis and its underlying *** found that miR-199a-3p expression was dramatically upregulated during HSC activation in vitro,and during liver fibrogenesis in CCl4-treated rats,and its liver expression was increased in the patients with *** the luciferase assay and RT-qPCR,we revealed that the expression of miR-199a-3p in HSCs was driven by the transcription factor Twist1 which could be further induced by TGF-β*** studies showed that inhibition of miR-199a-3p in both human LX2 cells and rat HSCs significantly decreased the expression of fibrotic markers,such as fibronectin and connective tissue growth factor(CTGF),whereas the forced expression of miR-199a-3p exhibited opposite effects,demonstrating the role of miR-199a-3p in promoting HSC ***,miR-199a-3p plays an important role in TGF-βsignalling pathway activation through targeting CAV2 that negatively regulates the expression of transforming growth factor-beta receptor type I(TGFβRI).Importantly,administration of antagomiR-199a-3p in the CCl4-treated mice significantly ameliorated hepatic *** conclusion,Twist1-induced miR-199a-3p mediates the activation of HSCs by suppressing CAV2 expression and subsequently increasing TGFβRI expression to promote TGF-β*** findings highlight the therapeutic potential of miR-199a-3p for hepatic fibrosis.

Nano-Mechanical Behavior and Nano-Tribological Properties of 316 Stainless Steel

The microstructure and nano-tribological properties of 316 austenitic stainless steel have been investigated by using the in situ nano-mechanical testing system Tribolndenter, in which six different normal forces were chosen to make a scratch and indentation. The results show that the contact depth of the indentation increases with the normal force and material is piled up on the edge of the indentation as plastic distortion. The stable nano-hardness and the reduced modulus of 316 austenitic stainless steel are approximately 6 GPa and 160 GPa, respectively. The friction coefficients of 316 stainless steel with conic-type diamond tip have a typical value of about 0.13, 0.15, 0.17, 0.19, 0.22 and 0.25 when the normal forces are kept at 500 μN, 1000 μN, 1500 μN, 2000 μN, 2500 μN and 3000 μN, revealing an increasing trend with the normal forces. The increase of the friction coefficient in the unloading segment may result from the adhesion force caused by the material piled up.

In order to find leading compounds with an excellent fungicidal activity, the title compound 2-（ 1,3-dithiolan-2- yl-idene）-1-phenyl-2-（ 1,2,4-tfiazol-1-yl） ethanone was synthesized according to the biological isosterism and its structure was confirmed by means of IR, MS, ^1 H NMR and elemental analysis. The single crystal structure of the title compound was determined by X-ray diffraction. The preliminary biological test shows that the synthesized compound exhibits some biological activities.

The LAMOST survey of background quasars in the vicinity of M31 and M33–Ⅲ.results from the 2013 regular survey

In this work, we report new quasars discovered in fields in the vicinity of the Andromeda（M31） and Triangulum（M33） galaxies with the Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope（LAMOST, also called the Guo Shou Jing Telescope） during the 2013 observational season, the second year of the regular survey. In total, 1330 new quasars are discovered in an area of ～133 deg2 around M31and M33. With i magnitudes ranging from 14.79 to 20.0 and redshifts from 0.08 to4.85, the 1330 new quasars represent a significant increase in the number of identified quasars in fields in the vicinity of M31 and M33. Up to now, there have been a total of 1870 quasars discovered by LAMOST in this area. The much enlarged sample of known quasars in this area can potentially be utilized to construct a precise astrometric reference frame for the measurement of minute proper motions of M31, M33 and their associated substructures, which are vital for understanding the formation and evolution of M31, M33 and the Local Group of galaxies. Moreover, in the sample,there are a total of 45, 98 and 225 quasars with i magnitudes brighter than 17.0, 17.5and 18.0 respectively. In the aforementioned brightness bins, 15, 35 and 84 quasars are reported here for the first time, and 6, 21 and 81 are reported in our pervious work. In addition, 0, 1 and 6 are from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey and 24, 41 and 54 are from the NED database. These bright quasars provide an invaluable sample to study the kinematics and chemistry of the interstellar/intergalactic medium of the Local Group.

Load Dependence of Nanohardness in Nitrogen Ion Implanted Ti6Al4V Alloy and Fractal Characterization

Three different nitrogen ion doses were implanted into a Ti6A14V alloy to improve its mechanical surface properties for the application of artificial joints. The titanium nitride phase and nitrogen element distribution profile were characterized with X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy （XPS）. Nano-indentation tests were carried out on the surface of the Ti6A14V alloy and implanted samples on a large scale of applied loads. The XPS analysis results indicate that nitrogen diffuses into the titanium alloy and forms a hard TiN layer on the Ti6A14V alloy. The nanohardness results reveal that nitrogen ion implantation effectively enhances the surface hardness of Ti6A14V. In addition, the nanohardness clearly reveals load dependence over a large segment of the applied loads. Thus a concept of nanohardness fractal dimension is first proposed and the dual fractal model can effectively describe nonlinear deformation in indentation areas on the Ti6A14V surface. The fractal dimension shows a decreased trend in two regions of applied loads, indicating a decrease of the self-similarity complexity in surface indentation owing to an increase in nanohardness after nitrogen ion implantation.

Control Model of Bloom Dynamic Soft Reduction

There are significant effects of process parameters on internal qualities of bloom, and these process parameters are as follows. position and reduction amount, reduction distribution, reduction rate, and so on. Developing a control model is the key to apply soft reduction technology successfully. As the research object, 360 mm ×450 mm bloom caster in PISCO （Panzhihua Iron and Steel Co. ） has been studied, and the research method for control model of dynamic soft reduction has been proposed. On the basis of solidification and heat transfer model, the position of soft reduction and reduction distribution of each frame are determined according to the bloom temperature distribution and solid fraction in bloom center calculated. Production practice shows that the ratio of center porosity which is less than or equal to 1.0, increased to 97.27%, ratio of central segregation which is less than or equal to 0.5, increased to 80.91%, and ratio of central carbon segregation index which is more than or equal to 1.10, decreased to 4% with the applying model of dynamic soft reduction.

SPATIAL-TEMPORAL CHANGES AND TRENDS OF AGEING IN CHINA

This study focuses on the development stages of ageing and its regional differences in China based on examination of official statistics and documents. The development of ageing in China has experienced three major stages. Firstly, in the 1950s, low coefficient of elderly population (over 65 years) paced up to primary adult type. Secondly, there was a deeply drop of the elderly population because of natural disaster and political factors in the 1960s. Thirdly, from the 1970s to the end of 20th century, the constant increasing of elderly coefficient made China close to elderly society. With statistic data of population, Logistic model is used to simulate the future development of ageing, and two characteristics of development of ageing are presented. Firstly, as for ageing from 2005 to 2050, the elderly coefficient will grow up significantly from 8.48% to 16.30%. Secondly, after 2025, the increasing rate of elderly coefficient will slow down gradually. The regional differences of elderly population in China can be summarized as follows: 1) the eastern China possesses higher elderly coefficient and huger elder population than the western China; 2) about 47.4% of municipalities and provinces in the eastern China become elderly especially Shanghai, Zhejiang Province, Jiangsu Province, Beijing, Tianjin and Shandong Province; 3) ageing intensity is higher in rural area than urban area but getting close each other, and there are more elderly people in rural area than in urban area. Therefore, these will arose aged care problems, and it becomes important issue to establish the social security system in rural areas as soon as possible for elderly people.

Source Apportionment of Heavy Metals in Soils Using Multivariate Statistics and Geostatistics

The main objectives of this study were to introduce an integrated method for effectively identifying soil heavy metal pollution sources and apportioning their contributions, and apply it to a case study. The method combines the principal component analysis/absolute principal component scores (PCA/APCS) receptor model and geostatistics. The case study was conducted in an area of 31 km2 in the urban-rural transition zone of Wuhan, a metropolis of central China. 124 topsoil samples were collected for measuring the concentrations of eight heavy metal elements (Mn, Cu, Zn, Pb, Cd, Cr, Ni and Co). PCA results revealed that three major factors were responsible for soil heavy metal pollution, which were initially identified as "steel production", "agronomic input" and "coal consumption". The APCS technique, combined with multiple linear regression analysis, was then applied for source apportionment. Steel production appeared to be the main source for Ni, Co, Cd, Zn and Mn, agronomic input for Cu, and coal consumption for Pb and Cr. Geostatistical interpolation using ordinary kriging was finally used to map the spatial distributions of the contributions of pollution sources and further confirm the result interpretations. The introduced method appears to be an effective tool in soil pollution source apportionment and identification, and might provide valuable reference information for pollution control and environmental management.

Optimization of Electrolyte Conductivity for Li-ion Batteries Based on Mass Triangle Model

Mass triangle model was applied to lithium ion battery for electrolyte conductivity forecasting. Seven kinds of electrolytes with different proportions of 3 solvents were prepared. The solvent proportions of the seven electrolytes varied so as to make the seven coordinate points distribute in the ternary coordinate system to form a forcasting region by the connection of them. Their conductivities were tested and the conductivity value in the forecasting region was calculated based on the tested value by mass triangle model. Conductivity isolines formed in the region and blank area showing no forecasted value existed simultaneously. Optimized electrolyte with superior conductivity was selected according to conductivity variation trendency combined with the attention paid to the no-value-shown blank area. The conductivity of optimized electrolytefre[ethyl carbonate（EC）]：m[propylene carbonate（PC）]：m[ethylmethyl carbonate（EMC）]=0.19：0.22：0.59} was 0.745 mS/cm at-40℃, increased by a factor of 51.4% compared to 0.492 mS/cm of common electrolyte[m（EC）：m（PC）：m（EMC）=l：l：l]. The accuracy of mass triangle model was demonstrated from the perspective that the maximum value existed in the blank area, Batteries with this optimized electrolyte exhibited a better performance.
