Spectral Selectivity of CdTe Cells with Substrate Configuration for Photovoltaic/Thermal Applications

Existing photovoltaic cells with high infrared emissivity generate huge radiative heat loss in photovoltaic/thermal applications and degrade the photothermal performance.The purpose of this work is to evaluate the full spectral absorptivity of CdTe cells to find a spectrally selective photovoltaic cell for photovoltaic/thermal applications.To this end,the solar absorptivity and mid-infrared thermal emissivity of CdTe cells were tested by ellipsometry,UV-Vis-NIR spectrophotometer,and Fourier transform infrared spectrometer.The experimental results show that the AM 1.5 solar spectrum weighted absorptivity of the substrate configuration CdTe cell reaches 0.91,and the mid-infrared emissivity is only 0.29,while the superstrate configuration cell emissivity is as high as 0.9.Further research shows that substrate configuration with a transparent conductive layer on top can be flexibly grown on metal foils and has spectral selectivity with high solar absorptivity and low mid-infrared emissivity should be considered in the future for photovoltaic/thermal applications.

Shaped charge warhead is important for enhancing the damage performance of underwater weapons.This paper used finite element analysis software and based on JPC water penetration experiments to examine the influence of liner parameters(wall thickness,material),charge aspect ratio,and stand-off distance on the movement characteristics of JPC in water.The findings reveal that the head diameter of the JPC increases and experiences significant erosion after entering the water,the effective length of the JPC in water undergoes two distinct phases:a growth phase and a decrease phase,with the velocity of the JPC decaying exponentially.Increasing the liner thickness,stand-off distance and the charge aspect ratio can improve the erosion resistance and the velocity retention capacity of the JPC.The optimal ranges for liner thickness and stand-off distance are 0.0363D_(k) to 0.0545D_(k)(D_(k) is the charge diameter),the stand-off distance should be within 1.0D_(k).After the charge aspect ratio higher than 1.25,the charge structure exerts minimal influence the movement characteristics of the JPC in water.Material density plays a crucial role in the velocity decay pattern of the JPC during penetration.JPC with higher densities exhibit superior velocity retention capabilities in water,with the velocity decay pattern converging if the densities are similar.Consequently,copper,tantalum and tungsten liners are deemed appropriate for underwater shaped charge warhead.Finally,the results will provide an important reference for the design of underwater shaped charge warhead.

Single-cell RNA sequencing(scRNA-seq)has allowed for the profiling of host and virus transcripts and host-virus interactions at single-cell resolution.This review summarizes the existing scRNA-seq technologies together with their strengths and weaknesses.The applications of scRNA-seq in various virological studies are discussed in depth,which broaden the understanding of the immune atlas,host-virus interactions,and immune repertoire.scRNA-seq can be widely used for virology in the near future to better understand the pathogenic mechanisms and discover more effective therapeutic strategies.

Performance analysis of a photovoltaic/thermal system with lunar regolith-based thermal storage for the lunar base

Powering a moon base,especially keeping it warm during the long lunar night,is a big challenge.This paper introduces a photovoltaic/thermal(PV/T)system incorporating regolith thermal storage to solve the challenge of power and heat provision for the lunar base simultaneously.The vacuum of space around the moon helps this system by reducing heat loss.During the moon's daytime,the system not only generates electricity but also captures heat.This stored heat in the regolith is then used at night,reducing the amount of equipment we need to send from Earth.The spectrally selective PV/T panels are designed to absorb a wide range of sunlight(0.3–2.5μm)while minimizing heat loss in the infrared range(3–30μm).Simulation results of the hybrid solar energy system indicate the average value of the overall efficiency is 45.9%,which relatively elevates 56.1%compared to the PV system.The launch mass of the proposed PV/T system is only 8.4%of a traditional photovoltaic-lithium battery system with the same amount of energy storage.And the total specific energy of the proposed system is 7.3 kWh kg^(-1),while that of the photovoltaic-lithium battery system is about 0.3 kWh kg^(-1).In summary,this study proposes an alternative combined heat and electricity supply system for the lunar base,which can greatly reduce the launch mass and free up load for other scientific research equipment.

Ultra-high nickel cobalt-free lithium layered oxides are promising cathode material for lithium-ion batteries（LIBs） because of their relatively high capacity and low cost.Nevertheless,the high nickel content would induce bulk structure degradation and interfacial environment deterioration,and the absence of Co element reduces the lithium diffusion kinetics,severely limiting the performance liberation of this kind of cathodes.Herein,a multifunctional Ti/Zr dual cation co-doping strategy has been employed to improve the lithium storage performance of LiNi0.9Mn0.1O2（NM91） cathode.On the one hand,the Ti/Zr co-doping weakens the Li+/Ni2+mixing through magnetic interactions due to the inexistence of unpaired electrons for Ti4+and Zr4+,increasing the lithium diffusion rate and suppressing the harmful coexistence of H1 and H2 phases.On the other hand,they enhance the lattice oxygen stability because of the strong Ti-O and Zr-O bonds,inhibiting the undesired H3 phase transition and lattice oxygen loss,improving the bulk structure and cathode-electrolyte interface stability.As a result,the Ti/Zr co-doped NM91（NMTZ） exhibits a 91.2% capacity retention rate after 100 cycles,while that of NM91 is only82.9%.Also,the NMTZ displays better rate performance than NM91 with output capacities of 115 and93 mA h g-1at a high current density of 5 C,respectively.Moreover,the designed NMTZ could enable the full battery to deliver an energy density up to 263 W h kg-1,making the ultra-high nickel cobaltfree lithium layered oxide cathode closer to practical applications.

The perfluorosulfonic acid(PFSA) membrane doped with two-dimensional conductive filler Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) is a fuel cell proton exchange membrane with high application potential. Experimental studies showed that the proton conductivity of Nafion/Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) composite membrane is improved significantly compared with that in pure Nafion. However, the microscopic mechanism of doping on the enhancement of membrane performance is remain unclear now. In this work, molecular dynamics simulation was used to investigate the microscopic morphology and proton transport behaviors of Nafion/Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) composite membrane at the molecular level. The results shown that there were significant differences about the diffusion kinetics of water molecules and hydroxium ions in Nafion/Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) at low and high hydration levels in the nanoscale region.With the increase of water content, Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) in membrane was gradually surrounded by ambient water molecules to form a hydration layer, and forming a relatively continuous proton transport channel between Nafion polymer and Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) monomer. The continuous proton transport channel could increase the number of binding sites of proton and thus achieving high proton conductivity and high mobility of water molecules at higher hydration level. The current work can provide a theoretical guidance for designing new type of Nafion composite membranes.

2,2,7,7-Tetrakis-(N,N-di-p-methoxyphenylamine)-9,9-spirobifluorene(Spiro-OMeTAD)has been identified as the most widely used and effective hole transporting material(HTM)in perovskite solar cells(PSCs).However,the complicated multistep synthesis and low intrinsic hole mobility of Spiro-OMe TAD limit its commercialized application.Therefore,developing highly efficient HTMs with less synthetic steps becomes increasingly important.Moreover,understanding hot carriers transfer dynamics at the interface of perovskite layer and hole transport layer is crucial for further enhancing PSCs performance towards Shockley-Queisser limit,which still lacks full investigation to date.Herein,a new HTM based on tetraphenylethene(WP1)was successfully synthesized by a simple one-step reaction process.It was found that WP1-based HTM exhibits more matched energy level,higher hole mobility and conductivity than those of the control Spiro-OMe TAD.The femtosecond transient absorption results reveal that the transfer rate of hot holes in perovskite/WP1 sample is four times higher than that of perovskite/Spiro-OMeTAD,thereby helping enhance the device performance.Consequently,the efficiency of PSCs is enhanced to 24.04%(WP1)from 22.85%(Spiro-OMeTAD).Moreover,the un-encapsulated device prepared with WP1 exhibits better long-term stability,retaining 87%of its initial PCE value after storing for 72 days under air environment,while the reference device shows76%of its initial value.This work indicates that simple tetraphenylethene-based organic small molecule could be a very promising HTM candidate for highly efficient PSCs,and gives some significant insights for understanding intrinsic hot carriers transfer dynamics in device.

For the efficient use of solar and fuels and to improve the supply-demand matching performance in combined heat and power(CHP)systems,this paper proposes a hybrid solar/methanol energy system integrating solar/exhaust thermochemical and thermal energy storage.The proposed system includes parabolic trough solar collectors(PTSC),a thermochemical reactor,an internal combustion engine(ICE),and hybrid storage of thermal and chemical energy,which uses solar energy and methanol fuel as input and outputs power and heat.With methanol thermochemical decomposition reaction,mid-and-low temperature solar heat and exhaust heat are upgraded to chemical energy for efficient power generation.The thermal energy storage(TES)stores surplus thermal energy,acting as a backup source to produce heat without emitting CO_(2).Due to the energy storage,time-varying solar energy can be used steadily and efficiently;considerable supply-demand mismatches can be avoided,and the operational flexibility is improved.Under the design condition,the overall energy efficiency,exergy efficiency,and net solar-to-electric efficiency achieve 72.09%,37.65%,and 24.63%,respectively.The fuel saving rate(FSR)and the CO_(2) emission reduction(ER_(CO_(2)))achieve 32.97%and 25.33%,respectively.The research findings provide a promising approach for the efficient and flexible use of solar energy and fuels for combined heat and power.
