Insights into in-situ TiB/dual-phase Ti alloy interface and its high load-bearing capacity

To better understand the strengthening mechanism of in-situ formed TiB reinforcements in dual-phase Ti6 Al4 V alloy,the interface characters and properties ofα-Ti/β-Ti/TiB system were thoroughly investigated with the combined use of high-resolution transmission electron microscopy(HRTEM),abinitio calculations,and indentation *** ab-initio calculations suggest that the highly coherent(100)_(TiB)/(121)_(β-Ti)phase boundary(PB)has fairly low interface energy of 0.082 J/m^(2)with an exceptionally high adhesion strength of 6.04 J/m^(2),owing to the formation of strong interfacial Ti–B ionic *** semi-coherent(201)_(TiB)/(0001)_(α-Ti)interface shows a relatively higher interface energy of 1.442 J/m^(2)but still with a fairly high adhesion strength of 4.95 J/m^(2).With the obtained interfacial energetics,thermodynamics analyses were further carried out to explore the nucleation mechanism ofα-Ti in TiB reinforced Ti6Al4V *** to the heterogeneous nucleation at TiB/β-Ti interface,the homogeneous nucleation ofα-Ti within theβ-Ti phase can be more energy-preferred,due to its lower nucleation energy barrier and critical *** indentation tests under various loads of different modes confirmed a remarkably enhanced load-bearing capacity of dual-phase Ti6Al4V alloys,under the critical significance of the strong interfacial bonding achieved by reinforcements of in-situ formed TiB.

Quantitative assessment of hepatic fibrosis in chronic hepatitis B and C: T1 mapping on Gd-EOB-DTPA-enhanced liver magnetic resonance imaging

AIM To assess the accuracy of Look-Locker on gadolinium ethoxybenzyl diethylenetriamine pentaacetic acid(GdEOB-DTPA)-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) for staging liver fibrosis in chronic hepatitis B/C(CHB/C).METHODS We prospectively included 109 patients with CHB or CHC who underwent a 3.0-Tesla MRI examination, including T1-weighted and Look-Locker sequences for T1 mapping. Hepatocyte fractions(He F) and relaxation time reduction rate(RE) were measured for staging liver fibrosis. A receiver operating characteristic analysis using the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUC) was used to compare thediagnostic performance in predicting liver fibrosis between He F and *** A total of 73 patients had both pathological results and MRI information. The number of patients in each fibrosis stage was evaluated semiquantitatively according to the METAVIR scoring system: F0, n = 23(31.5%); F1, n = 19(26.0%); F2, n = 13(17.8%); F3, n = 6(8.2%), and F4, n = 12(16.4%). He F by EOB enhancement imaging was significantly correlated with fibrosis stage(r =-0.808, P < 0.05). AUC values for diagnosis of any(≥ F1), significant(≥ F2) or advanced(≥ F3) fibrosis, and cirrhosis(F4) using He F were 0.837(0.733-0.913), 0.890(0.795-0.951), 0.957(0.881-0.990), and 0.957(0.882-0.991), respectively. He F measurement was more accurate than use of RE in establishing liver fibrosis staging, suggesting that calculation of He F is a superior noninvasive liver fibrosis staging *** A T1 mapping-based He F method is an efficient diagnostic tool for the staging of liver fibrosis.

Selective removal of iron(Ⅲ) from highly salted chloride acidic solutions by solvent extraction using di(2-ethylhexyl) phosphate

Developing thermal management fabrics with good energy storage and multistimuli responsive properties is important for regulating the body temperature in complex ***,the intelligent nonwoven membranes were fabricated via a coaxial electrospinning method,resulting in a core-sheath structure with poly(ethylene glycol)(PEG)as core and polyurethane(PU)as ***,polypyrrole(PPy)with good light absorption ability and electrical conductivity was deposited onto the surface of the PU@PEG electrospun fibers via electrochemical *** PPy layer enabled the membranes to respond quickly to sunlight and electrical *** membranes could heat up to 86°C under simulated sunlight within 200 s or produce remarkable electrothermal effect under a low voltage input of only 1V,exhibiting efficient energy conversion and storage *** photothermal and electrothermal conversion effect could be easily adjusted by controlling the polymerization time of ***,the multifunctional membranes with high latent heat,good mechanical properties as well as excellent photothermal/electrothermal conversion ability are promising in personal thermal management applications.

Interfacial Fluctuation Behavior of Steel/Slag in Medium-Thin Slab Continuous Casting Mold With Argon Gas Injection

The flow field of molten steel and the interfacial behaviour between molten steel and liquid slag layer in medium-thin slab continuous casting mold with argon gas injection were studied by numerical simulation, in which the effects of nozzle submergence depth and port angle, casting speed, and argon gas flow rate on the flow and the level fluctuation of molten steel were considered. The results show that the molten steel is jetted from the submerged en- try nozzle （SEN） with three ports into the mold and forms three recirculation zones including one upper recireulation zone and two lower recirculation zones. Argon gas injection results in a secondary vortex flow in the upper zone near the nozzle. For a given casting speed and argon gas flow rate, increasing the side port angle and submergence depth of nozzle can effectively restrain the steel/slag interracial fluctuation. Increasing the casting speed would prick up the level fluctuation. For a fixed casting speed, argon gas flow rate has a critical value, the interracial fluctuation with argon gas injection are stronger than the case without argon gas injection when the argon gas flow rate is less than the critical value, but when the argon gas flow rate exceeds the critical value, the level fluctuation is calmer than that without argon gas injection.

Effect of atmosphere on the synthesis of potassium titanate

Potassium titanate （K4Ti3O8） was synthesized by the reaction between ilmenite and concentrated KOH solution in the atmosphere of nitrogen,still air,and oxygen,*** obtained samples were systematically investigated by X-ray diffraction （XRD）,inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometer （ICP-OES）,and scanning electron microscopy （SEM）.XRD results indicate that K4Ti3O8 have been synthesized in different *** oxidizing atmosphere could enhance the conversion rate of Ti from ilmenite to K4Ti3O8,and Fe（II） is easily oxidized to trivalent iron Fe（III） during the ***,SEM images show that the different atmospheres have significant effect on K4Ti3O8 crystal morphology and particle *** shaped K4Ti3O8 crystals are obtained in nonoxidizing atmosphere.
