Recent studies are focusing on the distribution of water mass because the mixture region of water mass is highly related to the rich fishing grounds[Yasuda I.,Watanabe Y.,***.3(3):172–181,1994].Due to the large data size and time-varying property,efficient exploration and visualization of the ocean data is always extremely *** extract the dynamic behaviors of the water mass and its mixture from a large-scale simulated ocean dataset,we developed an efficient visualization system by applying our volume compression method and our volume rendering *** system allows us to investigate the time-varying distributions of ocean physical properties,additionally from the user’s perspective and *** the experiments,we show the generality and expressiveness by applying our system for single-and multi-property visualizations to find some significant ocean water ***,we could obtain a clear visualization result to show the dynamic behaviors of the mixture of water mass for simulation data regarding a location in the northwestern Pacific near Japan.

Placement of percutaneous transhepatic biliary stent using a silicone drain with channels

This report describes a method for percutaneous transhepatic biliary stenting with a BLAKE Silicone Drain, and discusses the usefulness of placement of the drain connected to a J-VAC Suction Reservoir for the treatment of stenotic hepaticojejunostomy. Percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage was performed under ultrasonographic guidance in a patient with stenotic hepaticojejunostomy after hepatectomy for hepatic hilum malignancy. The technique used was as follows. After dilatation of the drainage root, an 11-FF tube with several side holes was passed through the stenosis of the hepaticojejunostomy. A 10-Fr BLAKE Silicone Drain is flexible, which precludes onestep insertion. One week after insertion of the 11-Fr tube, a 0.035-inch guidewire was inserted into the tube. After removal of the 11-Fr tube, the guidewire was put into the channel of a 10-Fr BLAKE Silicone Drain. The drain was inserted into the jejunal limb through the intrahepatic bile duct and was connected to a J-VAC Suction Reservoir. Low-pressure continued suction was applied. Patients can be discharged after insertion of the 10-Fr BLAKE Silicone Drain connected to the J-VAC Suction Reservoir. Placement of a percutaneous transhepaUc biliary stent using a 10-Fr BLAKE Silicone Drain connected to a J-VAC Suction Reservoir is useful for the treatment of stenotic hepaticojejunostomy.

＜正＞There are some ancient square ponds found by the archaeological excavation in East Asia（China, South Korea, Japan）. The characters of the remains are Buddhism temples and Palaces. Iwould like to add the first-step examination about the genealogy relation of those square ponds, afterpointing out the feature of each pond. There are three square ponds in China, Yanshi - shangchengsite（B. C. the 16th century～）, Royal Palace site of the Nanyue Xingdom（B. C. 2nd century）, GuanzhouSouth Han Age site（A. D. the former part of the 10th century）. There are three square ponds in Buyeoarea, Chonnimsa temple site（middle of the 6th century）, Royal Palace site（the 6～7th century）,Mirukusa temple site（the late of the 7th century）, and two square ponds in Silla area, Kameunsatemple site （the late of the 7th century）, Hosan pond （the latter part of the 5th century）, in South *** has several square ponds built in the 7th century. The whole shape is clear with five squareponds of Shimanosho site, Ishigami site （included two square ponds）, Asukaike site, and Koriyamasite. A part of the form is clear with three square ponds of Sakatadera temple site, Hiratakitagawa siteand Ikazuchitoho site. When it is seen on the whole, square ponds has the similar form in each *** they are greatly different from other countries. It is easy to imagine that the function of the pondrelates to the shape of the pond closely, and we can think that there was an ideological ***, we can’t say that they were born in China, getting across to the Korean Peninsula and thento Japan, only from they are all square ponds and there are old and new differences in constructiongeneration. Was square pond individually born in each country? Or, did shape change in the processwhich garden culture of square pond spreads to other country? I can’t come to the conclusion by theexamination of forms of square ponds. I would like to conclude, after examining the genealogyrelation of the whole ponds

The greatest mass extinction in the Phanerozoic occurred at the end of the Permian, possibly within a short interval. This collapse of the Palaeozoic ecosystem was one of the most enigmatic intervals during the Phanerozoic. High-resolution palaeoenvironmental changes, based on biostratigraphic and sedimentary data, are presented from the PTB microbialite-bearing sections in Sichuan and southern Guizhou in South China to illustrate what happened just after the mass extinction.

Effect of Pre-Swirling Flow on Performance and Flow Fields in Semi-Opened Axial Fan

In this study, we tried to improve the performance by giving a pre-swirling flow to the radial inflow that occurred in the semi-opened axial fan. In addition, the flow fields of rotor outlet were clarified experimentally, and the effect of pre-swirling flow was considered. The experiment was carried out using a performance test wind tunnel with a square cross section of 880 mm. Three types of casings were prepared, in which the blade tip protruded 0%, 20%, and 40% of the meridional chord length. They were called R25, R15, and R05, respectively, in the casing bellmouth model code. Guide blades for generating a pre-swirling flow were installed on the vertical wall surface of the casing. In addition, a vertical wall was installed 60% upstream of the meridional chord length as an obstacle to prevent axial inflow. The velocity fields of the rotor outlet were measured using a hot-wire anemometer. From the results, the pre-swirling flow did not significantly affect the fan performance. When there was no obstacles wall upstream, there was a partial increase in efficiency, but the difference was not so large. When there was an obstacle wall upstream, the efficiency increased overall in the case of R15, but in the case of R05, the efficiency increased only in the low flow rate region, and conversely decreased in the high flow rate region. By observing the blade outlet flow fields when the performance was improved, it was confirmed that the influence of the tip leakage vortex was weakened.

WISE Infrared Search for Young Stellar Objects Associated with Starless Cores

This study presents the results of an infrared search of young stellar objects (YSOs) associated with cores with high optical extinction and no associated infrared IRAS source. Four hundred YSO candidates were identified in the WISE photometric catalog based on the infrared excess attributed to the circumstellar materials and proto-planetary disks. One-hundred and forty-nine cores do not have YSO candidates. Whereas, 32 cores harbor only Class I candidates and 107 cores have Class II candidates. Ninety-one cores that were previously identified as starless cores, were found to contain YSOs. The ratio of the number of starless cores to the number of star-forming cores suggests that the typical timescale from molecular cloud core formation to the birth of a star is in the range of 0.5 - 1.4 Myr.

Raman spectroscopy for the diagnosis of unlabeled and unstained histopathological tissue specimens

AIM To investigate the possibility of diagnosing gastric cancer from an unstained pathological tissue using Raman spectroscopy, and to compare the findings to those obtained with conventional histopathology. METHODS We produced two consecutive tissue specimens from areas with and without cancer lesions in the surgically resected stomach of a patient with gastric cancer. One of the two tissue specimens was stained with hematoxylin and eosin and used as a reference for laser irradiation positioning by the spectroscopic method. The other specimen was left unstained and used for Raman spectroscopy analysis. RESULTS A significant Raman scattering spectrum could be obtained at all measurement points. Raman scattering spectrum intensities of 725 cm^(-1) and 782 cm^(-1), are associated with the nucleotides adenine and cytosine, respectively. The Raman scattering spectrum intensity ratios of 782 cm^(-1)/620 cm^(-1), 782 cm^(-1)/756 cm^(-1), 782 cm^(-1)/1250 cm^(-1), and 782 cm^(-1)/1263 cm^(-1) in the gastric adenocarcinoma tissue were significantly higher than those in the normal stomach *** The results of this preliminary experiment suggest the feasibility of our spectroscopic method as a diagnostic tool for gastric cancer using unstained pathological specimens.

AIM: To evaluate the neuroprotective effect of a dietary supplement(ClearVision EX~?;CV) against glutamateinduced excitotoxicity in ***: We evaluated the protective effects CV on glutamate-induced cell toxicity of an immortalized mouse hippocampal cell line(HT-22) in vitro and N-methyl-Daspartate(NMDA) induced retinal injury in vivo. Once-daily oral administration of CV or vehicle(5% Arabic gum) was started the day before the NMDA injection and continued until the end of the study. Electroretinograms(ERGs) were recorded to evaluate the retinal function at 2 d after NMDA injection. Furthermore, a histological evaluation, Western blot analysis, and immunohistochemistry were performed for assessing the signal transduction pathway. RESULTS: HT-22 cell death was induced by the addition of glutamate and co-incubation with CV protected against it. Oral administration of CV inhibited the decrease in scotopic threshold response amplitudes induced by the intravitreal injection of NMDA and those of the thickness of the inner retinal layer in the histological evaluation. The increased phosphorylated levels of extracellular signalregulated kinase(ERK) but not cAMP response element binding protein(CREB) or Akt were observed 1 h after NMDA injection in both the vehicle-and CV-treated rats;however, p ERK activation was no more upregulated at 3 h after NMDA injection. pERK upregulation was observed in Müller ***: CV shows a protective effect against both glutamate-induced HT-22 cell death and NMDAinduced retinal damage. pERK upregulation in the Müller cells plays a key role in the protective effect of CV against glutamate-induced retinal toxicity.
