Long-term photometric study of a faint W UMa binary in the direction of M31

We carry out a re-analysis of the photometric data in Rclc bands which were taken during the Nainital Microlensing Survey from 1998 to 2002 with the aim to detect gravitational microlensing events in the direction of M31. Here, we do photometric analysis of a faint W UMa binary CSS_JO04259.3＋410629 identified in the target field. The orbital period of this star is found to be 0.266402±0.000018 d. The photometric mass ratio, q, is found to be 0.28±0.01. The photometric light curves are investigated using the Wilson-Devinney （WD） code and absolute parameters are determined using empirical relations which provide masses and radii of the binary as M1 = 1.19±0.09M⊙, M2 = 0.33±0.02M⊙ and R1 = 1.02±0.04R⊙, R2 = 0.58±0.08Re respectively based on Rc band data. Quite similar values are found by analyzing/c band data. From the photometric light curve examination, the star is understood to be a low mass-ratio overcontact binary of A-subtype with a high fill-out factor of about 47%. The binary system is found to be located approximately at a distance of 2.64±0.03 kpc having a separation of 2.01 ±0.05 Re between the two components.

In this paper, we study the age and spatial distributions of Cepheids in the Small Magellanic Cloud （SMC） as a function of their ages using data from the OGLE III photometric catalogue. A period - age relation derived for Classical Cepheids in the Large Magellanic Cloud （LMC） has been used to find the ages of Cepheids. The age distribution of the SMC Classical Cepheids is found to have a peak at log（Age）： 8.40 ± 0.10 which suggests that a major star formation event might have occurred in the SMC about 250 4- 50 Myr ago. It is believed that this star forming burst had been triggered by close interactions of the SMC with the LMC and/or the Milky Way. A comparison of the observed spatial distributions of the Cepheids and open star clusters has also been carried out to study the star formation scenario in the SMC.

Ecological variables play a significant role in determining the diversity and distribution of any living organism on earth. Lichens are not exceptional and are quite sensitive in comparison to other organisms; hence the present study focuses on the impact of ecological variables on the diversity and distribution of epiphytic macrolichens colonizing Quercus leucotrichophora across eight different sites(50 m × 50 m) in Thal Ke Dhar forest, Kumaun Himalaya, Uttarakhand, India. For sampling of macrolichens, 200 trees(25 trees from each site) of *** were selected from each site and five quadrats of 5 cm × 10 cm(1000 quadrats in totality) were drawn at the tree trunk. From all the sampled trees, a total of 54 species of epiphytic macrolichens belonging to 18 genera and five families were recorded. Various ecological variables, namely altitude, aspect, slope, diameter at breast height(DBH), and lopping percent(partial cutting of the twigs as disturbance), were also analyzed to investigate their influence on macrolichen species composition and distribution pattern in the study area. For the determination of relationships between these variables, statistical analysis, namely Pearson's Correlation Coefficient, Polynomial regression analysis and Principal Component Analysis(PCA)were performed. Out of all variables, lopping was significantly correlated to species richness of epiphytic macrolichens(0.712~*, p<0.05) and it was confirmed by Pearson's Correlation *** of having high anthropogenic pressure or impact through lopping, the maximum number of macrolichen species was recorded at elevation 2267 meter above sea level(m asl). Discrete Lotka-Volterra systems in one dimension (the logistic equation) and two dimensions have been studied extensively, revealing a wealth of complex dynamical regimes. We show that three-dimensional discrete Lotka-Volterra dynamical systems exhibit all of the dynamics of the lower dimensional systems and a great deal more. In fact and in particular, there are dynamical features including analogs of flip bifurcations, Neimark-Sacker bifurcations and chaotic strange attracting sets that are essentially three-dimensional. Among these are new generalizations of Neimark-Sacker bifurcations and novel chaotic strange attractors with distinctive candy cane type shapes. Several of these dynamical are investigated in detail using both analytical and simulation techniques.

Description of each species was presented with morphological and chemical characters.A key to the genus was also presented.

Objective:To prepare naringenin herbosome and evaluate its antidiabetic ***:Herbosomes were prepared by the solvent evaporation *** vitro parameters like particle size,polydispersity index,zeta potential,and entrapment efficiency were estimated and in vitro diffusion study was *** in vivo studies were also performed in streptozotocin-induced diabetic male Sprague Dawley rats to evaluate blood glucose,total cholesterol,triglyceride,blood urea nitrogen,total protein,albumin level,aspartate aminotransferase,and alanine aminotransferase ***:The optimized herbosome batch showed a particle size of 564.4 nm,a polydispersity index of 0.412,and zeta potential of−39.3 *** percentage entrapment of this formulation was 84.04%,with complete drug release within 8 *** of diabetic rats with naringenin herbosomes for 28 d significantly reduced the elevated level of plasma glucose as compared to plain *** biochemical parameters,the treatment showed a significant decrease in total cholesterol,triglyceride,and blood urea nitrogen;while elevated levels of aspartate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase were returned to *** naringenin and herbosome formulation at high dose increased the total protein whereas albumin level significantly increased in naringenin herbosomes at the highest dose but not in the pure naringenin treatment ***:Naringenin herbosomes could improve the metabolic profile of diabetic rats,indicating enhanced antidiabetic activity of herbosome formulation.

Assessment of reproductive health service utilization in urban slums: Evidence from Western Rajasthan

Objective:To assess the utilization of reproductive health services in urban slum of Jodhpur city,***:A community based cross-sectional study was conducted in an urban slums of Jodhpur city amongst 300 married women of reproductive age between March and June ***-structured questionnaire was used to gather demographic data and information about utilization of antenatal care(ANC)services,delivery and post-partum ***:The majority of females were aged less than 25 years(n=195;65.0%),married after 18 years(n=240;80%),living in extended families(n=265;88.3%)and with monthly family income less than 10000 rupees(n=182;60.7%).Statistically significant associations were found between≥4 ANC visits and educational level of secondary and above(OR 2.47,95%CI 1.03–6.28;P=0.04),older age(OR 15.70,95%CI 14.87–16.54 for women aged 26-35 years,OR 16.14,95%CI 12.12–20.01 for women aged≥36 years;P<0.01),and backward and general castes(OR 15.91,95%CI 13.57–17.85 for backward caste and OR 8.11,95%CI 8.07–8.26 for general category of caste;P<0.01).Seven percent of females had undergone *** age was associated with higher risks of postpartum complications(OR 1.06,95%CI 1.01–1.57 for women aged 26-35 years,OR 3.56,95%CI 1.29–4.69 for women aged≥36 years;P<0.01).In addition,risks of postpartum complications were associated with backward and general castes(OR 1.69,95%CI 1.34–2.13 for backward classes and OR 5.01,95%CI 4.29–5.31 for general category castes;P<0.01),and more than 4 ANC visits(OR 0.20,95%CI 0.09–0.34;P<0.01).Conclusions:More frequent ANC visits are associated with a lower risk of postpartum ***,a high utilization of reproductive health services represents good implementation of reproductive and child health programme at the peripheral level resulting in a stark rise in maternal health indicators in the state of Rajasthan.
