Infl uences of aeration induced turbulence on growth and competition of Microcystis and Scenedesmus in the presence of sediments with varying particle sizes

Aeration is an important measure to prevent cyanobacterial growth in eutrophic lakes and reservoirs.The purpose of this study is to clarify the infl uence of aeration induced turbulence on growth and competition of Microcystis and Scenedesmus in the presence of sediments with varying particle sizes.Microcystis aeruginosa and Scenedesmus obliquus were selected as the model organisms.Sediments with varying particle sizes were added into mono and mixed cultures of the organisms.In the absence of sediment,both low-and high-intensity aerations(the turbulent dissipation rates were 1.60×10^(-6)and 1.16×10^(-5)m^(2)/s^(3),respectively)promoted the growth of Scenedesmus,but the growth of Microcystis was inhibited particularly obvious under the high-intensity aeration conditions.In the presence of sediment,Scenedesmus was promoted under all aeration conditions,while Microcystis was inhibited.The inhibition rate of Microcystis decreased with the increase of sediment size when treated with low-intensity aeration in the nighttime.The highest inhibition rate of M.aeruginosa(89.2%)was identifi ed under the condition of low-intensity aeration in the nighttime with small sediment addition.Furthermore,our results indicated that the impacts of sediment-induced light intensity reduction on algal growth were insignifi cant.In the mixed culture,the growth of Microcystis was inhibited by Scenedesmus in all treatments with aeration.Our results provided a theoretical basis for the practice in controlling cyanobacteria by aeration.

Ni(0)-catalyzed regio-and diastereodivergent[4+2]annulation of biphenylenes withα,βunsaturated ketones is described.This solvent-controlled diastereodivergent reaction integrates C-C bond cleavage of biphenylene and C=C double bond insertion selectivity,offering a mild approach to all possible diastereoisomers of 9,10-dihydrophenanthrene derivatives from the same starting materials.

Varying water column stability controls the denitrification process in a subtropical reservoir,Southwest China

Reservoirs are regarded as hotspots of nitrogen transformation and potential sources of nitrous oxide(N_(2)O).However,it remains unclear how the hydrological conditions due to dam construction control the processes of nitrogen transformation in reservoir waters.To address this issue,we examined the spatial-temporal characteristics of nitrate concentrations,δ^(15)N-NO_(3)^(-),δ^(18)O-NO_(3)^(-),δ^(18)O-H_(2)O,relative water column stability(RWCS),and related environmental factors in a subtropical eutrophic reservoir(Hongfeng Reservoir,HFR),Southwest China.We found that denitrification was the most important nitrogen transformation process in the HFR and that higher denitrification intensity was associated with increased RWCS in summer,which suggested hydrological control of the denitrification process.In contrast,low RWCS conditions favored the nitrification process in the HFR in winter.Additionally,dissolved oxygen(DO;p<0.05)and nitrate concentrations(p<0.01)had significant impacts on the denitrification rate.We also found that the spatiotemporal RWCS variations were a prerequisite for regulating DO/nitrate stratification and the coupling/decoupling of nitrification-denitrification at the local and global scales.This study would advances our knowledge of the impacts of RWCS and thermal stratification on nitrogen transformation processes in reservoirs.

Voltage Profile Optimization of Active Distribution Networks Considering Dispatchable Capacity of 5G Base Station Backup Batteries

The penetration of distributed energy resources(DERs) and energy-intensive resources is gradually increasing in active distribution networks(ADNs), which leads to frequent and severe voltage violation problems. As a densely distributed flexible resource in the future distribution network, 5G base station(BS) backup battery is used to regulate the voltage profile of ADN in this paper. First, the dispatchable potential of 5G BS backup batteries is analyzed. Considering the spatial-temporal characteristics of electric load for 5G BS, the dispatchable capacity of backup batteries at different time intervals is evaluated based on historical heat map data. Then, a voltage profile optimization model for ADN is established, consisting of 5G BS backup batteries and other voltage regulation resources. In this model, the charging/discharging behavior of backup batteries is based on its evaluation result of dispatchable capacity. Finally, the range of charging/discharging cost coefficients of 5G BS that benefits ADN and 5G operators are analyzed respectively. Further, an incentive policy for 5G operators is proposed. Under this policy, the charging/discharging cost coefficients of 5G BS can achieve a win-win situation for ADN and 5G operators. As an emerging flexible resource in ADN, the effectiveness and economy of 5G BS backup batteries participating in voltage profile optimization are verified in a test distribution network.

BmCH25H,a vertebrate interferon-stimulated gene(ISG)homolog,inhibits BmNPV infection dependent on its hydroxylase activity in Bombyx mori

Cholesterol-25-hydroxylase(CH25H)has been identified as an interferon-stimulated gene(ISG)in mammals that exerts its antiviral effects by catalyzing the conversion of cholesterol to 25-hydroxycholesterol(25HC).However,invertebrates lack an antiviral system homologous to vertebrate interferons(IFNs)because the genomes of invertebrates do not encode IFN-like cytokines.Nevertheless,CH25H is present in insect genomes and it therefore deserves further study of whether and by which mechanism it could exert an antiviral effect in invertebrates.In this study,the Bombyx mori CH25H(BmCH25H)gene,of which the encoded protein has high homology with other lepidopteran species,was identified and located on chromosome 9.Interestingly,we found that the expression of BmCH25H was significantly upregulated in B.mori nucleopolyhedrovirus(BmNPV)-infected BmN cells and silkworm(B.mori)larvae at the early infection stage.The inhibitory effect of BmCH25H on BmNPV replication was further demonstrated to depend on its catalytic residues to convert cholesterol to 25HC.More importantly,we demonstrated that during BmNPV infection,BmCH25H expression was increased through the Janus kinase–signal transducer and activator of transcription(JAK–STAT)pathway,similar to the induction of ISGs following virus infection in vertebrates.This is the first report that CH25H has antiviral effects in insects;the study also elucidates the regulation of its expression and its mechanism of action.

Tumor-associated tertiary lymphoid structures(TLSs)are ectopic lymphoid formations within tumor tissue,with mainly B and T cell populations forming the organic aggregates.The presence of TLSs in tumors has been strongly associated with patient responsiveness to immunotherapy regimens and improving tumor prognosis.Researchers have been motivated to actively explore TLSs due to their bright clinical application prospects.Various studies have attempted to decipher TLSs regarding their formation mechanism,structural composition,induction generation,predictive markers,and clinical utilization.Meanwhile,the scientific approaches to qualitative and quantitative descriptions are crucial for TLS studies.In terms of detection,hematoxylin and eosin(H&E),multiplex immunohistochemistry(mIHC),multiplex immunofluorescence(mIF),and 12-chemokine gene signature have been the top approved methods.However,no standard methods exist for the quantitative analysis of TLSs,such as absolute TLS count,analysis of TLS constituent cells,structural features,TLS spatial location,density,and maturity.This study reviews the latest research progress on TLS detection and quantification,proposes new directions for TLS assessment,and addresses issues for the quantitative application of TLSs in the clinic.

Oxygen-assisted preparation of mechanoluminescent ZnS：Mn for dynamic pressure mapping

Mechanoluminescent materials that convert mechanical stimuli to light emission have attracted extensive attention for potential applications in human-machine interactions. Here, we report a simple and available novel approach for the oxygen-assisted preparation of ZnS：Mn particles by solid-state reaction at atmospheric pressure without the formation of the corresponding oxides. The existence of O2 has a positive impact on the formation of S vacancies in wurtzite-phase ZnS, leading to the introduction of Mn2＋ ion luminescent centers and shallow donor levels, which can improve the electron-hole recombination rate. The O2 ratio and Mn2＋ ion doping concentration have significant effects on the luminous efficienc）5 which is optimal at 1%-20% and 1 at.%-2 at.% respectively. In addition, a device based on the piezo-photonic effect with excellent pressure sensitivity of 0.032 MPa-1 was fabricated, which can map the two-dimensional pressure distribution ranging from 2.2 to 40.6 MPa in situ. This device can be applied to real-time pressure mapping, smart sensor networks, high-level security systems, human-machine interfaces, and artificial skins.

为了降低城市地铁车站地下空间绿色建筑的全年总能耗占比,提出一种绿色建筑设计方法,包括采光设计、节地设计和环保设计。采光设计运用技术引入自然光,并通过手动照明补偿不足;节地设计采用垂直布局减少占地面积;环保设计利用BIM技术实现高质量环保建筑。实验结果表明,该设计方法可将年度总能耗占比降至83.2%,满足预期标准,优化了城市地铁车站地下空间绿色建筑的设计方法,为绿色建筑的可持续发展提供了新思路。

Bioinspired drug-delivery system emulating the natural bone healing cascade for diabetic periodontal bone regeneration

Diabetes mellitus(DM)aggravates periodontitis,resulting in accelerated periodontal bone resorption.Disordered glucose metabolism in DM causes reactive oxygen species(ROS)overproduction resulting in compromised bone healing,which makes diabetic periodontal bone regeneration a major challenge.Inspired by the natural bone healing cascade,a mesoporous silica nanoparticle(MSN)-incorporated PDLLA(poly(DL-lactide))-PEG-PDLLA(PPP)thermosensitive hydrogel with stepwise cargo release is designed to emulate the mesenchymal stem cell“recruitment-osteogenesis”cascade for diabetic periodontal bone regeneration.During therapy,SDF-1 quickly escapes from the hydrogel due to diffusion for early rat bone marrow stem cell(rBMSC)recruitment.Simulta-neously,slow degradation of the hydrogel starts to gradually expose the MSNs for sustained release of metformin,which can scavenge the overproduced ROS under high glucose conditions to reverse the inhibited osteogenesis of rBMSCs by reactivating the AMPK/β-catenin pathway,resulting in regulation of the diabetic microenvironment and facilitation of osteogenesis.In vitro experiments indicate that the hydrogel markedly restores the inhibited migration and osteogenic capacities of rBMSCs under high glucose conditions.In vivo results suggest that it can effectively recruit rBMSCs to the periodontal defect and significantly promote periodontal bone regeneration under type 2 DM.In conclusion,our work provides a novel therapeutic strategy of a bioinspired drug-delivery system emulating the natural bone healing cascade for diabetic periodontal bone regeneration.

传统制作建筑设计效果图的方法耗时较久,为此提出基于虚拟现实(Virtual Reality,VR)技术的建筑设计效果图制作方法。首先,运用建筑信息模型(Building Information Modeling,BIM)技术与VR技术进行交互,将三维模型可视化。其次,设置BIM模型的材质和属性,运用VR平台进行属性识别与认证,选择漫游动画进行设计。最后,运用Photoshop对渲染得到的图进行美化处理,保证效果图模型与真实房屋尺寸保持一致。结果表明,10个小组的效果图制作耗时均在16 s以内,实现了预期目标。
