Scoping review update on somatic symptom disorder that includes additional Chinese data

Somatic symptom disorder(SSD)is a new diagnosis introduced into the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders,Fifth Edition(DSM-5),which is expected to solve the diagnostic difficulties of patients with medically unexplained symptoms.Based on the previous work,this review aims to comprehensively synthesise updated evidence related to SSD from recent years in English publications and,more extensively,from data published in Chinese language journals.The scoping review update was based on an earlier scoping review and included Chinese language publication data from China National Knowledge Internet(CNKI),WANFANG and WEIPU between January 2013 and May 2022 and data from PubMed,PsyclNFO,and Cochrane Library between June 2020 and May 2022.Initially,2984 articles were identified,of which 63 full texts were included for analysis.In China,SSD is mainly applied in scientific research,but it also shows good predictive validity and clinical application potential.The mean frequency of SSD was 4.5%in the general population,25.2%in the primary care population and 33.5%in diverse specialised care settings.Biological factors,such as brain region changes and heart rate variability,are associated with the onset of sSD.Psychological impairment related to somatic symptoms is the best predictor of prognosis.While adolescent SSD is significantly associated with family function,SSD overall is associated with an increased dysfunction of cognition and emotion,decreased quality of life,and high comorbidity with anxiety and depressive disorders.Further research is needed on suicide risk and cultural and gender-related issues.Updating the data of Chinese language studies,our research enriches the evidence-based findings related to the topics addressed in the text sections of the SSD chapter of DSM-5.However,research gaps remain about SSD reliability,population-based prevalence,suicide risk,and cultural and gender-related issues.

Application of an atmospheric pressure plasma jet in a rat model of ischaemic stroke:Design,optimisation,and characteristics

Recent studies have shown the in vitro neuro-protective functions of atmospheric pressure plasma(APP)against multiple pathological injuries during ischaemic stroke(IS).However,whether APP treatment exerts a therapeutic effect on a rat IS model remains unclear.Here,on the basis of needle-to-ring dielectric barrier discharge,an atmospheric pressure plasma jet(APPJ)was designed,with the Helium as the working gas which was driven by a sinusoidal voltage.Then,the treatment conditions were optimised for IS rat model treatment and the characteristics of this APPJ were further diagnosed.Subsequently,the rat IS model was established through 90 min middle cerebral artery occlusion(MCAO),and plasma was intermittently inhaled by rats via the nasal cavity for a 2 min period at 60 min of MCAO process.The therapeutic effects of this plasma jet device were then evaluated using biomedical analyses.According to our results,intermittent APP inhalation in the MCAO rats increased the serum NO content,improved the neurological function,enhanced regional cerebral blood flow,lowered brain infarction,and reduced the cell apoptosis in brain tissues of MCAO rats.Collectively,our data provides a novel potential strategy for IS treatment by using atmospheric-pressure plasma inhalation.

Overview of Advanced Control Strategies for Electric Machines

Control strategies play a key role for operation of electric machines,which would directly affect the whole system performance.In fact,different control strategies have been executed and explored for electric machines,which bring great impacts to industrial development and human society.This paper investigates and discusses the advantages control strategies for electric machines,including the field oriented control(FOC),direct torque control(DTC),finite control set model predictive control(FCS-MPC),sensorless control,and fault tolerant control(FTC).The corresponding control principles,control targets,fundamental approaches,advanced approaches,methodologies,merits and shortcomings are revealed and analyzed in detail.

Characterizing the spatiotemporal variations of evapotranspiration and aridity index in mid-western China from 2001 to 2016

Mid-western China is one of the most sensitive and fragile areas on the Earth.Evapotranspiration(ET)is a key part of hydrological cycle in these areas and is affected by both global climate change and human activities.The dynamic changes in ET and potential evapotranspiration(PET),which can reflect water consumption and demand,are still unclear,and there is a lack of predictive capacity on drought severity.In this study,we used global MODIS(moderate-resolution imaging spectroradiometer)terrestrial ET(MOD16)products,Morlet wavelet analysis,and simple linear regression to investigate the spatiotemporal variations of ET,PET,reference ET(ET0),and aridity index(AI)in mid-western pastoral regions of China(including Gansu Province,Qinghai Province,Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region,and part of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region)from 2001 to 2016.The results showed that the overall ET gradually increased from east to southwest in the study area.Actual ET showed an increasing trend,whereas PET tended to decrease from 2001 to 2016.The change in ET was affected by vegetation types.During the study period,the average annual ET0 and AI tended to decrease.At the monthly scale within a year,AI value decreased from January to July and then increased.The interannual variations of ET0 and AI showed periodicity with a main period of 14 a,and two other periodicities of 11 and 5 a.This study showed that in recent years,drought in these pastoral regions of mid-western China has been alleviated.Therefore,it is foreseeable that the demand for irrigation water for agricultural production in these regions will decrease.

One-Pot Synthesis of Fully-Conjugated Chemically Stable Two-Dimensional Covalent Organic Framework

Covalent organic frameworks(COFs)with good chemical stability coupled with extended-conjugation structures are highly prefera-ble.Herein,a fully-conjugated and chemically stable two-dimensional COF was synthesized by a one-pot,three-components synthe-sis through a successful conversion of amine,aldehyde,and alkyne groups into the quinoline units as linkages with B(C6F5)3 serving as a Lewis acid catalyst,whilst 2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyano-1,4-benzoquinone(DDQ)was employed as an oxidant.The obtained fully conjugated 2D COF shows excellent stability in acid or base.

Nano-hydroxyapatite(nHAP)has been widely used in bone repair as an osteo-inductive and naturally-occurring material.However,the optimal applied form of nHAP and the underlying mechanisms involved remain unclear.Herein,to investigate into these,a range of corresponding models were designed,including three applied forms of nHAP(Free,Coating and 3D)that belong to two states(Free or fixed).The results indicate that when fixed nHAP was applied in the 3D form,optimal osteogenesis was induced in human bone marrow stem cells(hBMSCs)with increased bone volume via integrinα7(ITGA7)-mediated upregulation of the PI3K-AKT signaling pathway,while contrary results were observed with free nHAP.Ectopic osteogenesis experiments in mice subcutaneous transplantation model further confirmed the different tendencies of ITGA7 expression and osteogenesis of hBMSCs in free and fixed states of nHAP.Our results revealed that the two states of nHAP play a different regulatory role in cell morphology and osteogenesis through the valve role of ITGA7,providing cues for better application of nanoparticles and a potential new molecular target in bone tissue engineering.

Bioinspired therapeutic platform based on extracellular vesicles for prevention of arterial wall remodeling in hypertension

Arterial stiffness due to the vessel remodeling is closely linked to raised blood pressure,and its physiopathologic mechanism is still not fully understood.We here aimed to explore whether extracellular vesicle(EV)mediated intercellular communication between endothelium and smooth muscle cell contribute to the blood vessel remodeling under hypertension.We here revealed that the arterial endothelial cells robustly secreted EV,which in turn could be circulated and/or directly taken up by the subendothelial smooth muscle cells(SMC).Under hypertension,the EV secretion increased and the miRNA profile changed significantly mainly due to the raised mechanical force and subsequent enhanced reactive oxygen species generation.Among the miRNA cargos in the EV,miR-320d/423-5p were found increased most significantly.In vivo delivery of miR-320d/423-5p mimics via engineered EV increased their expression in arterial vessels,recapitulating the phenotype in hypertension.In contrast,therapeutic delivery of miR-320d/423-5p inhibitors via engineered EV alleviated the phenotype in spontaneous hypertension rat model.Together,we have found that the injured endothelium due to the raised mechanical force in hypertension contributes to the arterial wall remodeling via the secreted EV.Our study has not only provided novel insights on the mechanism of hypertension associated blood vessel wall remodeling,but also shed light on therapeutic intervention of hypertension associated vascular diseases.

Comprehensive evaluation of Actinidia arguta fruit based on the nutrition and taste:67 germplasm native to Northeast China

Actinidia arguta is a berry fruit with high nutritional values.To evaluate the comprehensive quality,the fruit weight,titratable acid(TAC),soluble solids(SSC),vitamin C,mineral elements,and taste value of67 accessions of A.arguta were measured,and sensory attributes including olfactive intensity,juiciness,sweetness,sourness,and astringency were assessed.Cluster analysis was carried out based on mineral elements,and principal component analysis(PCA)was used for comprehensive score ranking.The result demonstrated that fruit weight ranged from 3.5 g to 24.2 g,SSC ranged from 11.94%to 20.56%,TAC ranged from 0.15%to 1.20%,and vitamin C ranged from 3.51 g/kg to 230.76 g/kg(fresh weight)among the tested samples.There were significant differences in sourness,sweetness,bitterness,and umami among the 67 accessions based on electronic tongue analysis,and this result was rapidly and objectively characterized by the sensory assessment.The dendrogram was obtained and clustered the accessions into two major clusters,and five principal components were extracted by PCA.Overall,the information provided by this study identified the 10 best germplasm resources for fresh-eating and processing fruits.It can provide theoretical reference for nutritional efficacy evaluation and food development of A.arguta.

Hepatic transcriptome delineates the therapeutic effects of Sanren Tang(三仁汤)on high-fat diet-induced non-alcoholic fatty liver disease

OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the effects of Sanren Tang(SRT,三仁汤)on a high-fat diet(HFD)-induced non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)in mice and to investigate the hepatic transcriptome regulated by SRT.METHODS:The primary SRT components were identified using ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-high-resolution accurate mass spectrometry.The SRT-induced pharmacological effects on HFD-induced NAFLD were evaluated in mice for 16 weeks.Obeticholic acid was used as a control drug.Body weight,food intake,and homeostatic model assessment for insulin resistance(HOMA-IR)index were analysed.Hepatic histological changes were observed in haematoxylin and eosin-stained sections and quantified using the NAFLD activity score(NAS).Serum alanine aminotransferase(ALT)and hepatic triglyceride(TG)levels were measured.Lipids in hepatocytes were visualised by Oil red staining.RNA-sequencing was performed to determine the transcriptome profile of the liver tissue.The differentially expressed genes were validated using real-time polymerase chain reaction and Western blotting.RESULTS:Four principal compounds were identified in the SRT:adenosine,amygdalin,luteoloside,and magnolol.SRT ameliorated hepatic histology and lipid deposition in the NAFLD mice,and decreased HOMA-IR,NAS and ALT,and hepatic TG levels.Hepatic transcriptome analysis revealed 232 HFD-regulated genes that were reversed by SRT simultaneously.Retinol metabolism,cytokine-cytokine receptor interaction,and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor(PPAR)γsignalling were the top three SRT-regulated pathways in NAFLD.CONCLUSIONS:SRT significantly ameliorated HFD-induced NAFLD,which was correlated with the regulation of genes enriched in the retinol metabolism,cytokine-cytokine receptor interaction,and PPARγsignalling pathways.
