Amorphous hybrid tungsten oxide–nickel hydroxide nanosheets used as a highly efficient electrocatalyst for hydrogen evolution reaction

There are more challenges for alkaline hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)via simultaneously expediting the electron-coupled water dissociation process(Volmer step)and the following electrochemical H_(2) desorption(Heyrovsky step).Hybrid amorphous electrocatalysts are highly desirable for efficient hydrogen evolution from water-alkali electrolyzers due to the bifunctionality for the different elementary steps of HER and optimal interactions with water molecules and the reactive hydrogen intermediates(Had).Herein,the synthesis of amorphous hybrid ultrathin(tungsten oxide/nickel hydroxide)hydrate(a-[WO_(3)/Ni(OH)_(2)]·0.2H_(2)O)nanosheets on nickel foam(NF)for efficient alkaline HER is *** structural and composition features of a-[WO_(3)/Ni(OH)_(2)]·0.2H_(2)O are characterized in *** resulting a-[WO_(3)/Ni(OH)_(2)]·0.2H_(2)O/NF electrocatalyst with the synergistic effect of both hybrid components for the HER elementary steps shows greatly improved the activity and durability for the HER with a low overpotential of-41 and-163 mV at-10 and-500 mA·cm^(-2),respectively,a Tafel slope as low as-72.9 mV·dec^(-1),and long-term stability of continuous electrolysis for at least 150 h accompanying by inappreciable overpotential change in 1 M *** the hybrid a-[WO_(3)/Ni(OH)_(2)]·0.2H_(2)O,Ni(OH)_(2) and WO_(3) moieties are separately responsible for accelerating dissociative adsorption of water and weakening Had adsorption strength,which is beneficial to the improvement of the alkaline HER activity.

Enhanced plasmonic absorption of Pt cuboctahedra-WO_(3)nanohybrids used as visible light photocatalysts for overall water splitting

Localized surface plasmon resonance(LSPR)effects of nanoscale plasmonic metals/semiconductor composites have been extensively applied into visible light ***,Pt nanoparticles(NPs)with the visible LSPR absorption maxima have rarely been used as a photosensitizer to facilitate photocatalytic reactions,especially the photocatalytic overall water splitting(POWS)reaction,presumably because they feature weak light ***,we present that the increased plasmonic absorption and local field enhancement can be achieved in the wide visible range by exploiting the simulated and experimental expressions of Pt nanocuboctahedra and Pt cuboctahedra-WO_(3)nanohybrids(Pt-WO3).First,monodisperse Pt cuboctahedra with different sizes,a hierarchical WO_(3)nanoarchitecture composed of radially patterned WO_(3)nanopillars,and Pt-WO_(3)were systematically ***,visible plasmonic Pt-WO_(3)photocatalysts were employed in the POWS tests and exhibited the significant activity enhancement in the visible light *** apparent quantum efficiency(AQE)of greater than 7%within the range of visible light has been achieved for the optimal Pt-WO3.

Hierarchical CoNiSe2 nano-architecture as a high- performance electrocatalyst for water splitting

Hierarchical nano-architectures comprised of ultrathin ternary selenide （CoNiSe2） nanorods were directly grown on nickel foam （NF）. The integrated CoNiSe2/NF functions as a robust electrocatalyst with an extremely high activity and stability for emerging renewable energy technologies, and electrochemical oxygen and hydrogen evolution reactions （OER and HER, respectively）. The overpotentials required to deliver a current density of 100 mA·cm^-2 are as low as 307 and 170 mV for the OER and HER, respectively; therefore, the obtained CoNiSe2 is among the most promising earth-abundant catalysts for water splitting. Furthermore, our synthetic sample validates a two-electrode electrolyzer for reducing the cell voltage in the full water splitting reaction to 1.591 V to achieve a current density of 10 mA·cm^-2, which offers a novel inexpensive, integrated selenide/NF electrode for electrocatalytic applications.

Multi-scale physics-informed neural networks for solving high Reynolds number boundary layer flows based on matched asymptotic expansions

Multi-scale system remains a classical scientific problem in fluid dynamics,biology,*** the present study,a scheme of multi-scale Physics-informed neural networks is proposed to solve the boundary layer flow at high Reynolds numbers without any *** flow is divided into several regions with different scales based on Prandtl's boundary *** regions are solved with governing equations in different *** method of matched asymptotic expansions is used to make the flow field continuously.A flow on a semi infinite flat plate at a high Reynolds number is considered a multi-scale problem because the boundary layer scale is much smaller than the outer flow *** results are compared with the reference numerical solutions,which show that the msPINNs can solve the multi-scale problem of the boundary layer in high Reynolds number *** scheme can be developed for more multi-scale problems in the future.

Development of EPDM composites reinforced by CNTs@SiO_(2)for thermal protection systems of aerospace propulsion:Significant improvement in oxidation and ablation resistance properties

Carbon Nanotubes(CNTs)reinforced Polymer-Matrix Composites(PMCs)is widely used as insulation materials in thermal protection system of aerospace ***,CNTs are prone to oxidation and have high thermal conductivities,which makes it difficult to improve the ablation resistance of insulation materials that contain ***_(2)was encapsulated onto the surface of CNTs(CNTs@SiO_(2)),which were then added to Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer(EPDM)rubber to prepare the insulation *** analysis and ablation test were used to evaluate the resistance of the insulation materials to thermal oxidation and ***,scanning electron microscopy was performed to analyze their *** revealed that the addition of CNTs@SiO_(2)could visibly reduce the effects of hot corrosion and ablation on insulation *** C-CNTs@SiO_(2)-1 formulation had the best ablative ***,compared with the unencapsulated formulation(C-CNTs-10),the C-CNTs@SiO_(2)-1 formulation reduced the line ablation rate by 51%to 0.0130 mm/s after oxygen-acetylene ***,the ablation mechanism was investigated based on the effects of the CNTs@SiO_(2)additive on their ***,the improvement in ablation performance may be attributed to CNTs@SiO_(2)-induced decreases in thermal conductivity,improvement in the hot corrosion resistance in the char layer,and changes in the microstructure.

Pathogenic genes associated with Parkinson’s disease:molecular mechanism overview

Experimental analysis of matrix moveable oil saturation in tight sandstone reservoirs of the south Ordos Basin,China

Tight oil reservoirs in the south Ordos Basin are characterized by fractured,heterogeneous oil-bearing strata(an oil saturation of less than 55%on average),normal pressure(0.8±)and extra-low permeability(less than 0.3 mD).In the Chang 8 tight sandstone reservoir in Honghe oilfield,micro-and nanopores,especially those with a pore-throat radius of less than 1 mm,account for more than 90%.Fluid flow in the matrix is non-linear and crude oil flow rates are very low under normal pressure *** improved understanding of oil mobility in a tight matrix is key to further development of normalpressure tight-oil resources in the continental *** this study,constant-velocity and high-pressure mercury injection experiments were conducted using samples of typical tight sandstone cores obtained from the south of Ordos Basin.A new method for reconstructing the full-scale pore-throat distribution characteristics of tight sandstone reservoirs was established successfully,based on which multistage centrifugal tests,tests of low-pressure differential displacement of oil by water,and nuclear magnetic resonance tests were conducted in order to obtain the distribution characteristics of moveable fluid in different *** moveable oil saturation(MOS)and degree of oil recovery(*** of accumulative oil production to producing geologic reserves)of the core samples under different differential pressures for displacement were *** for the tight oil reservoirs in the south Ordos Basin,the moveable fluids are mainly stored in sub-micron(0.10-0.5 mm)*** Type I reservoirs(k>0.1 mD),the volume percentage of moveable fluid in pores with a radius larger than 0.5 mm is relatively high(greater than 40%).The degree of oil recovery of water flooding serves as the basis for forecasting recoverable reserves for tight oil *** reserves under water flooding,mainly occur in pores with a radius greater than 0.5 *** contribution of Type I reserves to oil pro

Microplastics in sediment of the Three Gorges Reservoir:abundance and characteristics under different environmental conditions

Freshwater microplastic pollution is an urgent issue of global concern,and research on the distribution in reservoirs is *** investigated the microplastic pollution levels in wet sediments collected from the Three Gorges Reservoir,the largest reservoir of *** show that microplastics were ubiquitous in the sediments of the Three Gorges Reservoir,and their abundance ranged from 59 to 276 pp/kg(plastic particles per kg,dry weight).Economic development and total population were important factors affecting the spatial heterogeneity of microplastic abundance,and the contribution of large cities along the reservoir to microplastic pollution should be paid with more *** microplastics were the most abundant type of microplastic particles in reservoir sediments,whereas polystyrene,polypropylene,and polyamide were the main types of *** apparent spatial heterogeneity in morphology and color of microplastics is attributed to different anthropogenic or landbased pollution ***,the accumulation of microplastics near the inlet of tributaries reflects the role of potential contributors of *** importantly,multiple bisphenols(BPs)and heavy metals detected at the microplastic surfaces indicate that microplastics can act as carriers of these pollutants in the environment in the same way as sediments did,which may alter the environmental fate and toxicity of these ***,we conclude that the Three Gorges Reservoir had been contaminated with microplastics,which posed a stress risk for organisms who ingest them along with their associated pollutants(BPs,heavy metals).
