Redox-active Ferrocene-dithiolenes Hybrid Complexes Showing Switchable Nonlinear Optical Properties

Density functional theory（DFT） calculations were carried out to investigate the geometry structures, redox properties and second-order nonlinear optical（NLO） properties of ferrocene（Fc）-dithiolenes hybrid complexes. The switchable second-order NLO properties of these complexes are induced by the redox process. The oxidized process significantly affects the geometrical structures of the dithiolene moieties, that is, the embowed dithiolene moieties change into planar structures. It supports that the dithiolene moieties are the oxidized center. The βtot values of the cationic species are at least 4 and 10 times those of their corresponding parent complexes, respectively. Further, the time-dependent DFT calculation illustrates that the low-energy absorption（which is helpful for the large NLO response） is mainly assigned to intra-ligand charge transfer [π（ex-dithiolene）→π（ex-dithiolene）]. These results suggest the potential use of the novel Fc-based dithiolenes complexes as versatile and fascinating NLO switching materials.

A Monte Carlo method has been proposed for direct simulating the thermodynamic quantities of a single self-avoiding walk chain with the neighbour interaction on a simple cubic lattice. The simulation data of the conformational entropy of the chain length 16 have been found to be consistent very well with the exact results obtained by the direct counting method.

Nitrogen(N) and phosphorus(P) are limited nutrients in terrestrial ecosystems, and their limitation patterns are being changed by the increase in N deposition. However, little information concerns the plant growth and the soil biological responses to N and P additions among different soils simultaneously, and these responses may contribute to understand plant-soil interaction and predict plant performance under global change. Thus, this study aimed to explore how N and P limitation changes in different soil types, and reveal the relationship between plant and soil biological responses to nutrient additions. We planted Dodonaea viscosa, a globally distributed species in three soil types(Lixisols, Regosols and Luvisols) in Yuanmou dry-hot valley in Southwest China and fertilized them factorially with N and P. The growth and biomass characters of D. viscosa, soil organic matter, available N, P contents and soil carbon(C), N, P-related enzyme activities were quantified. N addition promoted the growth and leaf N concentration of D. viscosa in Lixisols; N limitation in Lixisols was demonstrated by lower soil available N with higher urease activity. P addition promoted the growth and leaf P concentration of D. viscosa in Luvisols; severe P limitation in Luvisols was demonstrated by a higher soil available N: P ratio with higher phosphatase activity. Urease activity was negatively correlated with soil available N in Nlimited Lixisols, and phosphatase activity was negatively correlated with soil available P in P-limited Luvisols. Besides, the aboveground biomass and leaf N concentration of D. viscosa were positively correlated with soil available N in Lixisols, but the aboveground biomass was negatively correlated with soil available P. Our results show similar nutrient limitation patterns between plant and soil microorganism in the condition of enough C, and the nutrient limitations differ across soil types. Tonifying Qi and activating blood circulation in terms of Traditional Chinese Medicine: their effects in patients with myocardial infarction

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of tonifying Qi and activating blood circulation(SQABC), a method in Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM), on end-point events in patients with myocardial infarction(MI) in this retrospective cohort ***: Clinical data were obtained from the medical records of patients with acute MI(AMI),both during hospitalization and follow-up, and included general demographic information(age, gender, and contact information), TCM regimens used,and end-point ***: A total of 1596 patients with AMI were enrolled to this study, but data of only 1210 casesare accessible till follow-up. We classified the patients based on the exposure levels of *** comparing the results between all exposure and non-exposure groups, significant differences were identified, both during hospitalization and follow-ups. During hospitalization, cardiac death(4.40% vs 21.55%, P < 0.05) and cardiac shock(3.04% vs 11.62%, P < 0.05) were significantly lower in the exposure group than the non-exposure group. Similarly, during the follow-up, cardiac death(12.04% vs 20.49%, P < 0.05), acute heart failure(7.27% vs 11.81%, P < 0.05), composite endpoint of reinfarction and stroke(9.11% vs 15.28%,P < 0.05), and rehospitalization due to angina(25.49% vs 34.38%, P < 0.05) were significantly lower in the exposure group than the non-exposure ***: Our findings suggest that SQABC can significantly benefits the subjects in the management of high-risk AMI in them.

Improvement of Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Rapid Cooling Friction Stir-welded A1050 Pure Aluminum

Two-mm thick A1050 pure aluminum plates were successfully joined by conventional and rapid cooling friction stir welding(FSW), respectively. The microstructure and mechanical properties of the welded joints were investigated by electron backscatter diffraction characterization, Vickers hardness measurements, and tensile testing. The results showed that liquid CO_(2) coolant significantly reduced the peak temperature and increased the cooling rate, so the rapidly cooled FSW joint exhibited fine grains with a large number of dislocations. The grain refinement mechanism of the FSW A1050 pure aluminum joint was primarily attributed to the combined effects of continuous dynamic recrystallization, grain subdivision, and geometric dynamic recrystallization. Compared with conventional FSW, the yield strength, ultimate tensile strength, and fracture elongation of rapidly cooled FSW joint were significantly enhanced, and the welding efficiency was increased from 80% to 93%. The enhanced mechanical properties and improved synergy of strength and ductility were obtained due to the increased dislocation density and remarkable grain refinement. The wear of the tool can produce several WC particles retained in the joint, and the contribution of second phase strengthening to the enhanced strength should not be ignored.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effect and safety of the press-needle on chronic heart ***: According to the inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria, we screened 60 inpatients with chronic heart failure, from the Department of Cardiology in the Traditional Chinese Medicine Affiliated Hospital of Southwest Medical University, 60 cases were randomly divided into treatment group(n =30) and control group(n = 30) in accordance with the random number table. The control group received standard Western Medicine treatment(according to the Chinese guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of heart failure 2014 and patients' condition). The treatment group received the press-needle treatment on the basis of standard Western Medicine treatment, both treated for3 months. Observing the 6 min walking distance(6 MWD), the score of Minnesota living with heart failure questionnaire(MLHFQ), N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide(NT-pro BNP), angiotensin Ⅱ(AngⅡ), left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF) before and after ***:No statistical differences were found between control group and treatment group at baseline. Through self-matching test before and after treatment, the observation indexes were improved(P 0.05).CONCLUSION: The treatment of press-needle can significantly improve exercise tolerance and quality of life of patients with chronic heart failure, but the improvement of left ventricular ejection fraction was not significant.

Hierarchical clustering based on single-pass for breaking topic detection and tracking

Single-pass is commonly used in topic detection and tracking( TDT) due to its simplicity,high efficiency and low cost. When dealing with large-scale data,time cost will increase sharply and clustering performance will be affected greatly. Aiming at this problem,hierarchical clustering algorithm based on single-pass is proposed,which is inspired by hierarchical and concurrent ideas to divide clustering process into three stages. News reports are classified into different categories *** there are twice single-pass clustering processes in the same category,and one agglomerative clustering among different categories. In addition,for semantic similarity in news reports,topic model is improved based on named entities. Experimental results show that the proposed method can effectively accelerate the process as well as improve the performance.
