Pancreatic cancer is one of the most aggressive malignancies. The poor prognosis of pancreatic cancer patients is mainly attributed to low diagnostic rate at the early stage, highly aggressive nature coupled with the inadequate efficacy of current chemotherapeutic regimens. Novel therapeutic strategies are urgently needed for pancreatic cancer. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) play an important regulatory role in key processes of cancer development. The aberrant expression of miRNAs is often involved in the initiation, progression, and metastasis of pancreatic cancer. The discovery of tumor suppressor miRNAs provides prospects for the development of a novel treatment strategy for pancreatic cancer. We reviewed recent progress on the understanding of the role of miRNAs in pancreatic cancer, highlighted the efficient application of miRNAs-based therapies for pancreatic cancer in animal models and clinical trials, and proposed future prospects. This review focuses on the promise of integrating miRNAs into the treatment of pancreatic cancer and provides guidance for the development of precision medicine for pancreatic cancer.

Background:Cell competition is an important feature in pancreatic cancer(PC)progression,but the underlying mechanism remains elusive.This study aims to explore the role of exosomes derived from normal pancreatic ductal epithelial cells involved in PC progression.Methods:PC cells and pancreatic stellate cells(PSCs)were treated with exosomes isolated from pancreatic ductal epithelial cells.Cell proliferation was assessed by CCK8 assays.Cell migration and invasion were assessed by Transwell assays.PC and matched adjacent non-tumor tissue specimens were obtained from 46 patients pathologically diagnosed with PC at Peking University First Hospital from 2013 to 2017.Tissue miR-485-3p and p21-activated kinase-1(PAK1)expression was examined by real-time polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR),and the relationship of the two was analyzed using Pearman’s product-moment correlation.The clinical significance of miR-485-3p was analyzed using the Chi-square test,Wilcoxon rank-sum test,and Fisher exact probability,respectively.The binding of miR-485-3p to PAK15’-untranslated region(5’-UTR)was examined by luciferase assay.PC cells were xenografted into nude mice as a PC metastasis model.Results:Exosomes from pancreatic ductal epithelial cells suppressed PC cell migration and invasion as well as the secretion and migration of PSCs.MiR-485-3p was enriched in the exosomes of pancreatic ductal epithelial cells but deficient in those of PC cells and PSCs,in accordance with the lower level in PSCs and PC cells than that in pancreatic ductal cells.And the mature miR-485-3p could be delivered into these cells by the exosomes secreted by normal pancreatic duct cells,to inhibit PC cell migration and invasion.Clinical data analysis showed that miR-485-3p was significantly decreased in PC tissues(P<0.05)and was negatively associated with lymphovascular invasion(P=0.044).As a direct target of miR-485-3p,PAK1 was found to exert an inhibitory effect on PC cells,and there was a significantly negative correlation between the expression levels of miR-4

Current status and future prospect of surgical treatment for pancreatic cancer

Pancreatic cancer is one of the most deadly malignancies, and the incidence of this dismal disease has been reported to rise yearly in a global range. Currently, the cancer-related mortality rate for pancreatic cancer ranks the fourth in western countries. However, it is predicted that by 2030, the cancer-related death rate of pancreatic cancer will rise to the second place in the United States, and the third place in Europe (1). The main reason for this change is that the treatment efficacy of top-ranking cancers, such as breast, prostate and colorectal cancer, has accomplished a significant improvement recently, while the progress in pancreatic cancer treatment is still evolving slowly. Situations of the diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of pancreatic cancer in China are similar. Overall, the treatment of pancreatic cancer is still extremely challenging, and radical resection remains the only curative therapy. Although some progress has been achieved recently in both adjuvant and neoadjuvant therapies, there is still a long way to go to improve the long-term prognosis of patients with pancreatic cancer. In this mini-review we summarize current status focusing on major advancements in surgical treatment of pancreatic cancer during the past 20 years, and highlights future prospects in the field.

Objective: In 2015, the Chinese Pancreatic Association of the Chinese Society of Surgery of the Chinese Medical Association launched a national multicenter online system for registration of surgical treatment of pancreatic cancer in China, called China Pancreas Data Center (CPDC). With continued effort, the CPDC has developed over time. Herein, we report the general results of the CPDC from January 2016 to January 2020 to present the real-world situation of surgical treatment of pancreatic cancer in China.Methods: The data of the CPDC from January 2016 to January 2020 were retrieved and analyzed in this real-world study, including the data on patient demographics, comorbidities, diagnostic modalities, neoadjuvant treatment, surgical procedures, postoperative complications and treatment, pathological examinations, postoperative adjuvant treatment, survival, and risk factors.Results: A total of 13,595 cases from 70 centers in 28 provinces were retrieved for analysis. This study reported the largest cohort of patients who underwent surgical treatment for pancreatic cancer in China to date. More cases were derived from the Eastern regions, among which Shanghai, Beijing, and Zhejiang ranked in the top three. The peak age of the patients ranged from 60 to 69 years. The ratio of males to females was 1.5:1. Overall, 64.3% of the tumors were located in the head and neck of the pancreas, and 35.7% in the body and tail of the pancreas. Of the patients, 23.0% underwent positron-emission tomography-computed tomography, 21.6% underwent endoscopic ultrasound, and 4.8% underwent preoperative biopsy. Two percent of the patients underwent neoadjuvant treatment, while 68.9% underwent R0 surgical resection (margin free of tumor cells). Of the latter, 78.6% of the operations were open procedures, 12.6% were laparoscopic procedures, 2.9% were robotic procedures, and 3.7% were converted to open procedures. Since the discovery of enzyme-like activity of Fe3O4 nanoparticles in 2007,nanozymes are becoming the promising substitutes for natural enzymes due to their advantages of high catalytic activity,low cost,mild reaction conditions,good stability,and suitable for large-scale production.Recently,with the cross fusion of nanomedicine and nanocatalysis,nanozyme-based theranostic strategies attract great attention,since the enzymatic reactions can be triggered in the tumor microenvironment to achieve good curative effect with substrate specificity and low side effects.Thus,various nanozymes have been developed and used for tumor therapy.In this review,more than 270 research articles are discussed systematically to present progress in the past five years.First,the discovery and development of nanozymes are summarized.Second,classification and catalytic mechanism of nanozymes are discussed.Third,activity prediction and rational design of nanozymes are focused by highlighting the methods of density functional theory,machine learning,biomimetic and chemical design.Then,synergistic theranostic strategy of nanozymes are introduced.Finally,current challenges and future prospects of nanozymes used for tumor theranostic are outlined,including selectivity,biosafety,repeatability and stability,in-depth catalytic mechanism,predicting and evaluating activities.

In the context of low carbon,this paper discussed the impact of the carbon cap-and-trade policy on the fresh-keeping decision-making of two-echelon fresh agricultural product supply chains under different dominance,and designed cost-sharing contracts to coordinate the supply chain of fresh agricultural products dominated by suppliers and retailers respectively.The results showed that:dominance has no effect on the fresh-keeping decision and total revenue of fresh agricultural product supply chain,but it affects the internal income distribution,and dominance does not always bring more benefits;the implementation of carbon cap-and-trade reduces the fresh-keeping decision-making of fresh agricultural products supply chain and reduces the free-rider income of followers;the role of higher carbon trading price is twofold,which not only brings about the speculation of leading enterprises,but also promotes the application of low-carbon technologies;consumers’high preference for freshness,low-cost and high-efficiency low-carbon technology are all conducive to improving the fresh-keeping efforts and benefits of the supply chain;cost-sharing contracts can coordinate the supply chain of fresh agricultural products.

In this paper,a comprehensive overview of radar detection methods for low-altitude targets in maritime environments is presented,focusing on the challenges posed by sea clutter and multipath scattering.The performance of the radar detection methods under sea clutter,multipath,and combined conditions is categorized and summarized,and future research directions are outlined to enhance radar detection performance for low-altitude targets in maritime environments.

Acute myeloid leukemia(AML)is a rapidly lethal blood cancer characterized by aberrant proliferation and differentiation of myeloid progenitors in the hematopoietic tissue.In recent decades,AML patients are significantly increased.In 2019 alone,21,450 new AML cases were diagnosed in the United States,with an estimated 10,920 deaths due to AML.What’s worse,AML occurs with an increasing incidence with advanced age,and the survival rate remains dismal with a median overall survival of only 5e10 months.Notwithstanding great advances in allogenic transplant and chemotherapy,the therapeutic outcomes are unfavorable due to the disease relapse and mortality rates.More importantly,the development of more specific and effective therapies was hampered in part by the lack of proper animal models for AML.Thus,management and elucidation of the pathological mechanism of AML remain an ongoing challenge,and the development of effective AML mouse models and treatment options are urgently needed.
