Photothermal catalytic C-C coupling to ethylene from CO_(2) with high efficiency by synergistic cooperation of oxygen vacancy and half-metallic WTe_(2)

Photothermal catalytic CO_(2) conversion provides an effective solution targeting carbon neutrality by synergistic utilization of photon and heat.However,the C-C coupling initiated by photothermal catalysis is still a big challenge.Herein,a three-dimensional(3D)hierarchical W_(18)O_(49)/WTe_(2) hollow nanosphere is constructed through in-situ embodying of oxygen vacancy and tellurium on the scaffold of WO_(3).The light absorption towards near-infrared spectral region and CO_(2) adsorption are enhanced by the formation of half-metal WTe_(2) and the unique hierarchical hollow architecture.Combining with the generation of oxygen vacancy with strengthened CO_(2) capture,the photothermal effect on the samples can be sufficiently exploited for activating the CO_(2) molecules.In particular,the close contact between W_(18)O_(49)and WTe_(2) largely promotes the photoinduced charge separation and mass transfer,and thus the~*CHO intermediate formation and fixedness are facilitated.As a result,the C-C coupling can be evoked between tungsten and tellurium atoms on WTe_(2).The ethylene production by optimized W_(18)O_(49)/WTe_(2) reaches 147.6μmol g^(-1)with the selectivity of 80%.The in-situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy(DRIFTS)and density functional theory(DFT)calculations are performed to unveil the presence and significance of aldehyde intermediate groups in C-C coupling.The half-metallic WTe_(2) cocatalyst proposes a new approach for efficient CO_(2) conversion with solar energy,and may especially create a new platform for the generation of multi-carbon products.

A credible traffic prediction method based on self-supervised causal discovery

Next-generation wireless network aims to support low-latency, high-speed data transmission services by incorporating artificial intelligence(AI) technologies. To fulfill this promise, AI-based network traffic prediction is essential for pre-allocating resources, such as bandwidth and computing power. This can help reduce network congestion and improve the quality of service(QoS) for users. Most studies achieve future traffic prediction by exploiting deep learning and reinforcement learning, to mine spatio-temporal correlated variables. Nevertheless, the prediction results obtained only by the spatio-temporal correlated variables cannot reflect real traffic changes. This phenomenon prevents the true prediction variables from being inferred, making the prediction algorithm perform poorly. Inspired by causal science, we propose a novel network traffic prediction method based on self-supervised spatio-temporal causal discovery(SSTCD). We first introduce the Granger causal discovery algorithm to build a causal graph among prediction variables and obtain spatio-temporal causality in the observed data, which reflects the real reasons affecting traffic changes.Next, a graph neural network(GNN) is adopted to incorporate causality for traffic prediction. Furthermore,we propose a self-supervised method to implement causal discovery to to address the challenge of lacking ground-truth causal graphs in the observed data. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the SSTCD method.

Tourism resources that span provincial boundaries in China play a pivotal role in regional development,yet effective governance poses persistent challenges.This study addresses this issue by constructing a comprehensive database of transboundary natural tourism resources(TNTR)through amalgamation of diverse data sources.Utilizing the Getis-Ord Gi^(*),kernel density estimation,and geographical detectors,we scrutinize the spatial patterns of TNTR,focusing on both named and unnamed entities,while exploring the influencing factors.Our findings reveal 7883 identified TNTR in China,with mountain tourism resources emerging as the predominant type.Among provinces,Hunan boasts the highest count,while Shanghai exhibits the lowest.Southern China demonstrates a pronounced clustering trend in TNTR distribution,with the spatial arrangement of biological landscapes appearing more random compared to geological and water landscapes.Western China,characterized by intricate terrain,exhibits fewer TNTR,concurrently unveiling a significant presence of unnamed natural tourism resources.Crucially,administrative segmentation influences TNTR development,generating disparities in regional goals,developmental stages and intensities,and management approaches.In response to these variations,we advocate for strengthening the naming of the unnamed transboundary tourism resources,constructing a geographic database of TNTR for government and establishing a collaborative management mechanism based on TNTR database.Our research contributes to elucidating the intricate landscape of TNTR,offering insights for tailored governance strategies in the realm of cross-provincial tourism resource management.

Rheumatoid arthritis(RA)is an autoimmune disease with a complex etiology.Monocyte-derived macrophages(MDMs)infiltration are associated with RA severity.We have reported the deletion of G-protein-coupled receptor kinase 2(GRK2)reprograms macrophages toward an anti-inflammatory phenotype by recovering G-protein-coupled receptor signaling.However,as more GRK2-interacting proteins were discovered,the GRK2 interactome mechanisms in RA have been understudied.Thus,in the collagen-induced arthritis mouse model,we performed genetic GRK2 deletion using GRK2^(f/f)Lyz2-Cre^(+/−)mice.Synovial inflammation and M1 polarization were improved in GRK2^(f/f)Lyz2-Cre^(+/−)mice.Supporting experiments with RNA-seq and dual-luciferase reporter assays identified peroxisome proliferator-activated receptorγ(PPARγ)as a new GRK2-interacting protein.We further confirmed that fms-related tyrosine kinase 1(Flt-1),which promoted macrophage migration to induce angiogenesis,was inhibited by GRK2-PPARγsignaling.Mechanistically,excess GRK2 membrane recruitment in CIA MDMs reduced the activation of PPARγligand-binding domain and enhanced Flt-1 transcription.Furthermore,the treatment of mice with GRK2 activity inhibitor resulted in significantly diminished CIA pathology,Flt-1^(+)macrophages induced-synovial inflammation,and angiogenesis.Altogether,we anticipate to facilitate the elucidation of previously unappreciated details of GRK2-specific intracellular signaling.Targeting GRK2 activity is a viable strategy to inhibit MDMs infiltration,affording a distinct way to control joint inflammation and angiogenesis of RA.

In recent years,biochar has attracted considerable attention for soil quality improvement and carbon sequestration due to its unique physicochemical properties.However,the mechanism by which biochar application negatively affects the growth of crop seedlings has not been fully investigated.In this study,a hydroponic experiment was conducted to evaluate the response of rice,wheat,and corn seedlings to biochar application(CK,0 g/L;BC1,0.5 g/L;and BC2,1.0 g/L).Compared with the CK treatment,the BC1 and BC2 treatments decreased the fresh shoot and root weights of rice and corn seedlings(P0.05).For the contents of nutrient elements in seedlings,both BC1 and BC2 treatments hindered the roots from absorbing Fe and Cu and increased the uptake of Ca and Mn.Compared with the CK treatment,the translocation factor(TF)values of Ca,Mn,and Zn were significantly decreased especially in rice seedlings(35.3%-36.8%,68.7%-76.5%,and 29.8%-22.0%,respectively)under the BC1 and BC2 treatments,while only Mn was significantly decreased in wheat and corn seedlings(P<0.05).Transmission electron microscope(TEM)analysis of root cross-sections showed that nano-sized biochar particles(10~23 nm)were found in the root cells under BC2 treatment conditions.Our findings reveal that a large amount of biochar application can reduce nutrient absorption and translocation,and hinder rice,wheat,and corn seedlings,particularly rice seedling,in hydroponic system.

To effectively separate and recover Co(Ⅱ) from the leachate of spent lithium-ion battery cathodes,we investigated solvent extraction with quaternary ammonium salt N263 in the sodium nitrite system.NO_(2)^(-)combines with Co(Ⅱ) to form an anion [Co(NO_(2))_(3)]^(-),and it is then extracted by N263.The extraction of Co(Ⅱ) is related to the concentration of NO_(2)^(-).The extraction efficiency of Co(Ⅱ) reaches the maximum of99.16%,while the extraction efficiencies of Ni(Ⅱ),Mn(Ⅱ),and Li(Ⅰ) are 9.27%-9.80% under the following conditions:30vol% of N263 and15vol% of iso-propyl alcohol in sulfonated kerosene,the volume ratio of the aqueous-to-organic phase is 2:1,the extraction time is 30 min,and1 M sodium nitrite in 0.1 MHNO_(3).The theoretical stages require for the Co(Ⅱ) extraction are performed in the McCabe–Thiele diagram,and the extraction efficiency of Co(Ⅱ) reaches more than 99.00% after three-stage counter-current extraction with Co(Ⅱ) concentration of 2544mg/L.When the HCl concentration is 1.5 M,the volume ratio of the aqueous-to-organic phase is 1:1,the back-extraction efficiency of Co(Ⅱ)achieves 91.41%.After five extraction and back-extraction cycles,the Co(Ⅱ) extraction efficiency can still reach 93.89%.The Co(Ⅱ) extraction efficiency in the actual leaching solution reaches 100%.

Global seismic tomography reveals remnants of subducted Tethyan oceanic slabs in the deep mantle

The Tethyan evolution depicts the continuous process of landmasses separating from the Gondwana continent in the south,drifting northwards,and subsequently colliding with the continents in the north over the past 500 million years.In this process,the Tethyan oceans that formed between the landmass and the southern or northern continents underwent growth,evolution,and eventual closure with the early Cenozoic India-Eurasia collision.However,the Tethyan lithosphere did not disappear but rather continued to evolve after entering into the deep Earth.The current position,morphology,and volume of the subducted Tethyan oceanic slabs in the deep mantle record the latest moment of this continuous evolution,providing critical constraints for Tethyan studies.This paper summarizes and analyzes the results of global-scale whole-mantle seismic tomography in the past nearly two decades,revealing a northwest-southeast seismically high-velocity anomaly,which is linearly distributed at depths of 1000–2000 km beneath the Tethyan realm and referred to as the Tethyan anomaly.By searching for an optimal linear combination of previous global seismic tomographic models to best match the known subducted slabs in the upper mantle,we observe that the Tethyan anomaly extends approximately 8700 km in length and 2600 km in width,exhibiting a parallel structure with northern and southern branches.Combining geological records of oceanic subduction initiation and previous geodynamic studies,this study suggests that the main body of the Tethyan anomaly represents the remnants of the subducted Neo-Tethyan oceanic slabs,which subducted from the Late Jurassic to the early Cenozoic.The northern branch consists of subducted slabs from the Neo-Tethys beneath the southern margin of Eurasia,while the southern branch likely reflects the intra-oceanic subducted slabs of Neo-Tethys during the Cretaceous.The western portion of the Tethyan anomaly may reflect remnants of Paleo-Tethys,while the eastern portion,towards India and the Bay of Bengal,shows signs of

Controlling secondary flow in high-lift low-pressure turbine using boundary-layer slot suction

The design of high-lift Low-Pressure Turbines(LPTs)causes the separation of the boundary layer on the suction side of the blade and leads to a strong secondary flow.This present study aims to minimize secondary losses through endwall slot suction and incoming wakes in a front-loaded high-lift LPT cascade with Zweifel of 1.58 under low Reynolds number of 25000.Two slotted schemes for the boundary layer of the endwall were designed(Plan A and Plan B),and the effects of suction mass flow on secondary flow were studied.The underlying physics of the endwall boundary layer of the suction and secondary flow under unsteady wakes was discussed.The results show that slot suction at the endwall boundary layer can significantly suppress the secondary flow by removing low-momentum fluids.Plans A and B significantly reduced the secondary kinetic energy by 44.2%and 36.9%,respectively,compared with the baseline cascade at the suction mass flow ratios of 1%.With an increase in the mass flow ratio of suction,the secondary flow was gradually reduced in both Plans A and B.It is more beneficial to control the secondary flow to destroy the intersection of the pressure side and suction side of the horseshoe vortex before it develops into a passage vortex.Under unsteady wakes,the combined effects of incoming wakes and endwall boundary layer suction can further suppress the secondary flow at the suction mass flow ratios of 2%for Plan A,because the positive and negative vorticity inside upstream wakes accelerated the mixing of the main flow and secondary flow and thus increased the energy of secondary vortices.

Coupling Au with BO_(x) matrix induced by Closo-boron cluster for electrochemical synthesis of ammonia

Au is considered as one of the most promising catalysts for nitrogen reduction reaction(NRR),however maximizing the activity utilization rate of Au and understanding the synergistic effects between Au and carriers pose ongoing challenges.Herein,we systematically explore the synergistic catalytic effect of incorporating Au with boron clusters for accelerating NRR kinetics.An in-situ abinitio strategy is employed to construct B-doped Au nanoparticles(2-6 nm in diameter)loaded on BO_(x) substrates(AuBO_(x)),in which B not only modulates the surface electronic structure of Au but also forms strong coupling interactions to stabilize the nanoparticles.The electrochemical results show that Au-BO_(x) possesses excellent NRR activity(NH_(3) yield of 48.52μg h^(-1)mg_(cat)^(-1),Faraday efficiency of 56.18%),and exhibits high stability and reproducibility throughout the electrocatalytic NRR process.Theoretical calculations reveal that the introduction of B induces the formation of both Au dangling bond and Au-B coupling bond.which considerably facilitates the hydrogenation of~*N_(2)^(-)~*NH_(3).The present work provides a new avenue for the preparation of metal-boron materials achieved by one-step reduction and doping process,utilizing boron clusters as reducing and stabilizing agents.
