Ecological impacts of the expansion of offshore wind farms on trophic level species of marine food chain

The global demand for renewable energy has resulted in a rapid expansion of offshore wind farms(OWFs)and increased attention to the ecological impacts of OWFs on the marine ecosystem.Previous reviews mainly focused on the OWFs’impacts on individual species like birds,bats,or mammals.This review collected numerous field-measured data and simulated results to summarize the ecological impacts on phytoplankton,zooplankton,zoobenthos,fishes,and mammals from each trophic level and also analyze their interactions in the marine food chain.Phytoplankton and zooplankton are positively or adversely affected by the‘wave effect’,‘shading effect’,oxygen depletion and predation pressure,leading to a ±10% fluctuation of primary production.Although zoobenthos are threatened transiently by habitat destruction with a reduction of around 60% in biomass in the construction stage,their abundance exhibited an over 90% increase,dominated by sessile species,due to the‘reef effect’in the operation stage.Marine fishes and mammals are to endure the interferences of noise and electromagnetic,but they are also aggregated around OWFs by the‘reef effect’and‘reserve effect’.Furthermore,the complexity of marine ecosystem would increase with a promotion of the total system biomass by 40% through trophic cascade effects strengthen and resource partitioning alternation triggered by the proliferation of filter-feeders.The suitable site selection,long-term monitoring,and life-cycle-assessment of ecological impacts of OWFs that are lacking in current literature have been described in this review,as well as the carbon emission and deposition.

Methane is one of the major greenhouse gases(GHGs)and agriculture is recognized as its primary emitter.Methane accounting is a prerequisite for developing effective agriculture mitigation strategies.In this review,methane accounting methods and research status for various agricultural emission source including rice fields,animal enteric fermentation and livestock and poultry manure management were overview,and the influencing factors of each emission source were analyzed and discussed.At the same time,it analyzes the different research efforts involving agricultural methane accounting and makes recommendations based on the actual situation.Finally,mitigation strategies based on accounting results and actual situation are proposed.This review aims to provide basic data and reference for agriculture-oriented countries and regions to actively participate in climate action and carry out effective methane emission mitigation.

In-Vehicle Network Injection Attacks Detection Based on Feature Selection and Classification

Detecting abnormal data generated from cyberattacks has emerged as a crucial approach for identifying security threats within in-vehicle networks.The transmission of information through in-vehicle networks needs to follow specific data for-mats and communication protocols regulations.Typically,statistical algorithms are employed to learn these variation rules and facilitate the identification of abnormal data.However,the effectiveness of anomaly detection outcomes often falls short when confronted with highly deceptive in-vehicle network attacks.In this study,seven representative classification algorithms are selected to detect common in-vehicle network attacks,and a comparative analysis is employed to identify the most suitable and favorable detection method.In consideration of the communication protocol characteristics of in-vehicle networks,an optimal convolutional neural network(CNN)detection algorithm is proposed that uses data field characteristics and classifier selection,and its comprehensive performance is tested.In addition,the concept of Hamming distance between two adjacent packets within the in-vehicle network is introduced,enabling the proposal of an enhanced CNN algorithm that achieves robust detection of challenging-to-identify abnormal data.This paper also presents the proposed CNN classifica-tion algorithm that effectively addresses the issue of high false negative rate(FNR)in abnormal data detection based on the timestamp feature of data packets.The experimental results validate the efficacy of the proposed abnormal data detection algorithm,highlighting its strong detection performance and its potential to provide an effective solution for safeguarding the security of in-vehicle network information.

Gastric cancer(GC)is one of the most common and deadly cancers worldwide.Early detection offers the best chance for curative treatment and reducing its mortality.However,the optimal population-based early screening for GC remains unmet.Aberrant DNA methylation occurs in the early stage of GC,exhibiting cancer-specific genetic and epigenetic changes,and can be detected in the media such as blood,gastric juice,and feces,constituting a valuable biomarker for cancer early detection.Furthermore,DNA methylation is a stable epigenetic alteration,and many innovative methods have been developed to quantify it rapidly and accurately.Nonetheless,large-scale clinical validation of DNA methylation serving as tumor biomarkers is still lacking,precluding their implementation in clinical practice.In conclusion,after a critical analysis of the recent existing literature,we summarized the evolving roles of DNA methylation during GC occurrence,expounded the newly discovered noninvasive DNA methylation biomarkers for early detection of GC,and discussed its challenges and prospects in clinical applications.

Multi-wavelength Brillouin erbium-doped fiber laser with 40 GHz frequency shift interval assisted by Sagnac loop filter

A switchable and tunable multi-wavelength Brillouin erbium-doped fiber laser(MWBEFL) is designed and experimentally demonstrated. A Sagnac loop filter is employed as the switcher to obtain the double Brillouin frequency shift(BFS) of 0.172 nm(~20 GHz) and the quadruple BFS of 0.35 nm(~40 GHz). The working principles of the proposed laser are theoretically analyzed. The experimental results show that up to 8 Stokes lines with a wavelength interval of 0.172 nm can be obtained. When the Sagnac loop filter is used, two different output spectra with wavelength interval of 0.35 nm are obtained by adjusting the polarization controller(PC) and the optical signal-to-noise ratio(OSNR) is greater than 33 dB. By adjusting the Brillouin pump(BP) wavelength to investigate the tunability of the fiber laser, the output of 2—5 laser channels can be realized corresponding to 20 nm wavelength range. This approach is simple and can be employed for the microwave generation of other frequency ranges subject to the filtering shift of the Sagnac loop.

Effect of coir geotextile and geocell on ephemeral gully erosion in the Mollisol region of Northeast China

The unique geomorphological features and farming methods in the Mollisol region of Northeast China increase water catchment flow and aggravate the erosion of ephemeral gully(EG).Vegetation suffers from rain erosion and damage during the growth stage,which brings serious problems to the restoration of grass in the early stage.Therefore,effects of coir geotextile and geocell on EG erosion under four confluence intensities were researched in this study.Results of the simulated water discharge erosion test showed that when the confluence strength was less than 30 L/min,geocell and coir geotextile had a good effect on controlling EG erosion,and sediment yield of geocell and coir geotextile was reduced by 25.95%–37.82%and 73.73%–88.96%,respectively.However,when confluence intensity increased to 40 L/min,protective effect of coir geotextile decreased,and sediment yield rate increased sharply by 189.03%.When confluence intensity increased to 50 L/min,the protective effect of coir geotextile was lost.On the other hand,geocell showed that the greater the flow rate,the better the protective effect.In addition,with the increase in confluence intensity,erosion pattern of coir geotextile developed from sheet erosion to intermittent fall and then to completion of main rill,and the protective effect was gradually weakened.In contrast,the protective effect of EG under geocell was gradually enhanced from the continuous rill to the intermittent rill and finally to the intermittent fall.This study shows that coir geotextile and geocell can prevent EG erosion,and the effect of geocell is better than that of coir geotextile on the surface of EG.

THE OPTIMAL LARGE TIME BEHAVIOR OF3D QUASILINEAR HYPERBOLIC EQUATIONS WITH NONLINEAR DAMPING

We are concerned with the large-time behavior of 3D quasilinear hyperbolic equations with nonlinear damping.The main novelty of this paper is two-fold.First,we prove the optimal decay rates of the second and third order spatial derivatives of the solution,which are the same as those of the heat equation,and in particular,are faster than ones of previous related works.Second,for well-chosen initial data,we also show that the lower optimal L^(2) convergence rate of the k(∈[0,3])-order spatial derivatives of the solution is(1+t)^(-(2+2k)/4).Therefore,our decay rates are optimal in this sense.The proofs are based on the Fourier splitting method,low-frequency and high-frequency decomposition,and delicate energy estimates.

By employing the asymmetric end-group engineering,an asymmetric nonfused-ring electron acceptor(NFREA)was designed and synthesized.Compared with the symmetric analogs(NoCA-17 and NoCA-18),NoCA-19 possesses broader light absorption range,more coplanarπ-conjugated backbone,and appropriate crystallinity according to the experimental and theoretical results.The organic solar cells based on J52:NoCA-19 exhibited a power conversion efficiency as high as 12.26%,which is much higher than those of J52:NoCA-17(9.50%)and J52:NoCA-18(11.77%),mainly due to more efficient exciton dissociation,better and balanced charge mobility,suppressed recombination loss,shorter charge extraction time,longer charge carrier lifetimes,and more favorable blend film morphology.These findings demonstrate the great potential of asymmetric end-group engineering in exploring low-cost and high-performance NFREAs.

Exciting lattice oxygen of nickel–iron bi-metal alkoxide for efficient electrochemical oxygen evolution reaction

High efficiency,cost-effective and durable electrocatalysts are of pivotal importance in energy conversion and storage systems.The electro-oxidation of water to oxygen plays a crucial role in such energy conversion technologies.Herein,we report a robust method for the synthesis of a bimetallic alkoxide for efficient oxygen evolution reaction(OER)for alkaline electrolysis,which yields current density of 10 mA cm^(-2)at an overpotential of 215 mV in 0.1 M KOH electrolyte.The catalyst demonstrates an excellent durability for more than 540 h operation with negligible degradation in activity.Raman spectra revealed that the catalyst underwent structure reconstruction during OER,evolving into oxyhydroxide,which was the active site proceeding OER in alkaline electrolyte.In-situ synchrotron X-ray absorption experiment combined with density functional theory calculation suggests a lattice oxygen involved electrocatalytic reaction mechanism for the in-situ generated nickel–iron bimetal-oxyhydroxide catalyst.This mechanism together with the synergy between nickel and iron are responsible for the enhanced catalytic activity and durability.These findings provide promising strategies for the rational design of nonnoble metal OER catalysts.
