Rutin pretreatment promotes microglial M1 to M2 phenotype polarization

Microglial cells are important resident innate immune components in the central nervous system that are often activated during *** microglia can display one of two phenotypes,M1 or M2,which each play distinct roles in ***,a dietary flavonoid,exhibits protective effects against ***,whether rutin is able to influence the M1/M2 polarization of microglia remains *** this study,in vitro BV-2 cell models of neuroinflammation were established using 100 ng/mL lipopolysaccharide to investigate the effects of 1-hour rutin pretreatment on microglial *** results revealed that rutin pretreatment reduced the expression of the proinflammatory cytokines tumor necrosis factor-α,interleukin-1β,and interleukin-6 and increased the secretion of *** pretreatment also downregulated the expression of the M1 microglial markers CD86 and inducible nitric oxide synthase and upregulated the expression of the M2 microglial markers arginase 1 and *** pretreatment inhibited the expression of Toll-like receptor 4 and myeloid differentiation factor 88 and blocked the phosphorylation of I kappa B kinase and nuclear factor-kappa *** results showed that rutin pretreatment may promote the phenotypic switch of microglia M1 to M2 by inhibiting the Toll-like receptor 4/nuclear factor-kappa B signaling pathway to alleviate lipopolysaccharide-induced neuroinflammation.

Urgent Endoscopy in Nonvariceal Upper Gastrointestinal Hemorrhage:A Retrospective Analysis

Objective:The role of urgent endoscopy in nonvariceal upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage(NVUGIH)remains *** designed a retrospective study to compare the outcomes between urgent endoscopy(within 12 h)and non-urgent endoscopy for patients with ***:A total of 540 hospitalized patients with NVUGIH were included in our *** who received endoscopy within 12 h or after 12 h were divided into two groups,the urgent and non-urgent endoscopy groups,*** clinical outcomes including rebleeding,mortality,endoscopic re-intervention,need for emergency surgery and interventional radiotherapy were compared between the *** with Glasgow-Blatchford scores(GBS)12 were defined as the lower-and high-risk groups,respectively,and the predictors of rebleeding and mortality in both groups were analyzed ***:Patients with NVUGIH in the urgent endoscopy group had a higher rate of rebleeding(27.6%vs.16.9%,P=0.003)and blood transfusion(73.2%vs.55.5%,Phan those in the non-urgent endoscopy group,while the mortality and the length of hospitalization were not significantly different between the groups(P>0.05).For lower-risk patients,urgent endoscopy was independently associated with a higher likelihood of rebleeding(adjusted OR:1.73,95%CI:1.03-2.88),while it was not associated with in-hospital ***,the urgent need for endoscopy was not associated with rebleeding and in-hospital mortality in high-risk ***:Endoscopy within 12 h did not provide any advantage in the outcomes of patients with NVUGIH,and may even lead to an increased rebleeding rate in lower-risk patients.

An axisymmetric characteristic model for enhancing prediction of centrifugal compressor characteristics

Rapid and accurate determination of compressor characteristic maps is essential for the initial design of centrifugal compressors in aircraft power systems. The accuracy of existing methodologies, which rely on combinations of loss models, varies significantly depending on the compressor's geometry and operational range. This variance necessitates substantial experimental or Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD) data for coefficient calibration. To address this challenge, this study presents an axisymmetric characteristic model for compressor performance assessment. This model incorporates the factors of blade angle, meridional passage area, and the radial deflection angle of meridional streamlines of the compressor. These factors are derived from fundamental aerodynamic equations encompassing mass, momentum, and energy conservation of the compressor. In contrast to conventional one-dimensional approaches, the proposed method reduces the number of loss coefficients and more effectively accounts for the impact of geometric alterations on centrifugal compressor properties. Furthermore, the model reduces dependence on experimental and CFD data. Efficacy of the model is validated using experimental data from four distinct types of centrifugal compressors. Correlation analysis reveals that the model's coefficients can be expressed as functions of the ratio of the Reynolds number to the impeller tip speed. This ratio serves as a characteristic parameter for the design and optimization of centrifugal compressors. Consequently, the proposed method offers an efficient and accurate means for the quick computation of centrifugal compressor characteristics. This is of great significance for improving the efficiency of centrifugal compressors and reducing energy consumption.

Degradation of Rhodamine B by MnFe-LDH/PMS/O_(3) three-phase catalytic system: performance, mechanism and ecotoxicity studies

This study developed a novel MnFe-LDH/PMS/O3 three-phase catalytic system to degrade the organic dye RhB, which was used to address the drawbacks of persulfate oxidation and ozonation techniques. The structure, ionic and elemental composition, specific surface area, and magnetic properties of the LDHs were investigated using a variety of physicochemical characterization tools. The results showed that MnFe-LDH had a large specific surface area, a rich crystalline phase composition, and a functional group structure. The RhB degradation rate of MnFe-LDH/PMS/O3 was 0.34 min−1, which was much higher than that of other comparative systems. RhB could be completely degraded in 10 min after optimization and had a significant effect on TOC removal. The system was found to be effective over a wide pH range. Common anions were largely unaffected and humic acid acted as an inhibitor. At the same time, the system had generally effective degradation performance for different dyes. Combined with quenching experiments and EPR, it was found that SO4•−, •OH, O_(2)•−, and 1O_(2) all participated in the reaction, and •OH contributed more. The degradation pathway of RhB was derived by LC-MS, and the T.E.S.T. evaluation found that the toxicity of the intermediate product was significantly reduced. Finally, the stability and availability of LDHs were verified using cycling experiments and metal ion leaching. This work provides a theoretical basis and data support for the synergistic catalysis of PMS/O3 and the deep treatment of dye wastewater.

NHC-derived carbon-centered luminescent radicals with shortwavelength emission via suppression of Kasha's rule

Luminescent organic radicals have garnered increasing attention owing to their versatile applications in sensing, imaging, and organic light-emitting diodes(OLEDs), attributed to their unique emission properties originating from the doublet spin ***, the natural narrow bandgap of organic free radicals typically limits their emission to the long-wavelength *** luminescent organic radicals with short-wavelength emission remains a significant challenge. Herein, a series of carbon-centered radicals with short-wavelength emission(383–476 nm) by combining N-heterocyclic carbenes with various polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs)(2-naphthyl, 2a~Ⅰ and 2b~Ⅰ;2-phenanthryl, 2a~Ⅱand 2b~Ⅱ;2-anthryl, 2a~Ⅲand 2b~Ⅲ;3-phenanthryl, 2a~Ⅳand 2b~Ⅳ). Theoretical calculations reveal that the introduction of PAHs significantly increases the ΔE_(D2-D1) in 2a^(Ⅰ–Ⅲ)and 2b^(Ⅰ–Ⅲ)compared to that in phenyl-derived radical congeners. Consequently, the internal transition from D2 to D1 is impeded, leading to a high yield of D2 emission and a suppressed Kasha's rule, thereby overcoming the limitations imposed by their narrow bandgap. For 2a~Ⅳ and 2b~Ⅳ, despite a moderately large ΔED2-D1value, the ΔED3-D1value exceeds 1 e V, indicating that their emission likely originates from the D3 state. Furthermore, we utilized 2a~Ⅲand 2b~Ⅲ as emissive materials in OLEDs,resulting in blue emissions with external quantum efficiencies of 7.5% and 6.5%, respectively.
