Recently, hollow filler as an emerging concept is attracting more attention in preparation of mixed matrix membranes(MMMs). Herein,poly(ethylene glycol) microcapsules(PMC) are synthesized via distillation precipitation polymerization and embedded into the polyetherimide(Ultem■1000) matrix to fabricate MMMs for CO_(2) capture. The PMC exhibits a preferential hollow structure within the Ultem matrix to furnish highways within membrane, and thus achieve high gas permeability. Meanwhile, the favorable affinity of poly(ethylene glycol)(PEG)microcapsule with ether oxygen group(EO) towards CO_(2) enhances the CO_(2) solubility selectivity. Such integration of physical and chemical microenvironments in the as-designed PEG microcapsule affords highly enhanced CO_(2) separation performance. Compared to pristine Ultem■1000, the membrane with 2.5 wt% PMC loading exhibits 310% increment in CO_(2) permeability and 22% increment in CO_(2)/N_(2) selectivity,which shows the promising prospects of designing PEG-containing microcapsules as the filler of MMMs for CO_(2) capture.

Animal-derived biological products, such as fetal bovine serum(FBS) and trypsin, are important supplements for scientific, pharmaceutical, and medical use. Although preventive guidelines and tests are implemented to reduce potential viral contamination in these biologicals, they do not target unusual or emerging viruses, leading to safety concerns. Using unbiased metagenomics, we investigated the presence of viruses in recently collected commercial FBS and trypsin samples from different geographic regions. In total, we detected viralsequencesbelongingto Parvoviridae,Anelloviridae,Flaviviridae,Herpesviridae,Caliciviridae, Nodaviridae, Rhabdoviridae, and Paramyxoviridae, including several viruses related to bovine diseases, viruses of potential human and insect origin, and viruses of unknown origin. Bovine parvovirus 3 and bosavirus were detected with high frequency and abundance in FBS, necessitating more stringent testing for these parvoviruses during production. Both bovine norovirus and bovine viral diarrhea virus 1 displayed relatively high genetic distance to closest hits, indicating the presence of new genotypes in farm animals. While the origin of novel lyssavirus and Nipah virus is unclear, their presence raises the possibility of the introduction of pathogenic animal-derived viruses into *** results showed relatively widespread contamination of different viruses in biologicals,underscoring the need for robust safety protocol alternatives, such as metagenomic sequencing, to monitor emerging viruses.

Objective:This study aimed to compare the efficacy of anti-CD19 chimeric antigen receptor T cells(CAR-T cells)versus chemotherapy plus donor lymphocyte infusion(chemo-DLI)for treating relapsed CD 19-positive B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia(B-ALL)after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation(allo-HSCT).Methods:Clinical data of 43 patients with B-ALL who relapsed after allo-HSCT were retrospectively ***-two patients were treated with CAR-T cells(CAR-T group),and 21 with chemotherapy plus DLI(chemo-DLI group).The complete remission(CR)and minimal residual disease(MRD)-negative CR rates,leukemia-free survival(LFS)rate,overall survival(OS)rate,and incidence of acute graft-versus-host disease(aGVHD),cytokine release syndrome(CRS)and immune effector cell-associated neurotoxicity syndrome(ICANS)were compared between the two ***:The CR and MRD-negative CR rates in the CAR-T group(77.3%and 61.5%)were significantly higher than those in the chemo-DLI group(38.1%and 23.8%)(P=0.008 and P=0.003).The 1-and 2-year LFS rates in the CAR-T group were superior to those in the chemo-DLI group:54.5%and 50.0%vs.9.5%and 4.8%(P=0.0001 and P=0.00004).The 1-and 2-year OS rates in the CAR-T versus chemo-DLI group were 59.1%and 54.5%vs.19%and 9.5%(P=0.011 and P=0.003).Six patients(28.6%)with grade 2-4 aGVHD were identified in the chemo-DLI *** patients(9.1%)in the CAR-T group developed grade 1-2 *** patients(86.4%)developed CRS in the CAR-T group,comprising grade 1-2 CRS in 13 patients(59.1%)and grade 3 CRS in 6 patients(27.3%).Two patients(9.1%)developed grade 1-2 ***:Donor-derived anti-CD19 CAR-T-cell therapy may be better,safer,and more effective than chemo-DLI for B-ALL patients who relapse after allo-HSCT.

Quantitative principles of dynamic interaction between rock support and surrounding rock in rockburst roadways

Rockbursts, which mainly affect mining roadways, are dynamic disasters arising from the surrounding rock under high stress. Understanding the interaction between supports and the surrounding rock is necessary for effective rockburst control. In this study, the squeezing behavior of the surrounding rock is analyzed in rockburst roadways, and a mechanical model of rockbursts is established considering the dynamic support stress, thus deriving formulas and providing characteristic curves for describing the interaction between the support and surrounding rock. Design principles and parameters of supports for rockburst control are proposed. The results show that only when the geostress magnitude exceeds a critical value can it drive the formation of rockburst conditions. The main factors influencing the convergence response and rockburst occurrence around roadways are geostress, rock brittleness, uniaxial compressive strength, and roadway excavation size. Roadway support devices can play a role in controlling rockburst by suppressing the squeezing evolution of the surrounding rock towards instability points of rockburst. Further, the higher the strength and the longer the impact stroke of support devices with constant resistance, the more easily multiple balance points can be formed with the surrounding rock to control rockburst occurrence. Supports with long impact stroke allow adaptation to varying geostress levels around the roadway, aiding in rockburst control. The results offer a quantitative method for designing support systems for rockburst-prone roadways. The design criterion of supports is determined by the intersection between the convergence curve of the surrounding rock and the squeezing deformation curve of the support devices.

Hydroxychloroquine(HCQ)is widely used in the treatment of autoimmune disorders such as systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE)and rheumatoid arthritis,and in recent years it has also been used in diseases such as cancer,neurodegenerative diseases,metabolic diseases,and microbial infections.(1)Due to the complex pharmacokinetic characteristics of HCQ,overdose or long-term use of the drug will lead to accumulation in the tissue of organism,and severe HCQ-related retinal toxicity may occur.A cohort study in America showes that after 10 and 15 years of HCQ use,the incidence of HCQ retinopathy will be 2.5%and 8.6%,respectively.(2)The clinical manifestations of HCQ retinopathy are various,mainly photoreceptor and retinal pigment epithelium(RPE)defects,some combined with cystoid macular edema(CME),and ireversible central vision loss.
