3D flower-like hollow CuS@PANI microspheres with superb X-band electromagnetic wave absorption

Superior electromagnetic(EM)wave absorption properties in 8.2-12.4 GHz(X-band)can be obtained via the effective combination of polyaniline(PANI)and CuS.Herein,novel 3D flower-like hollow CuS@PANI microspheres were fabricated by a solvothermal process followed by in-situ polymerization.EM wave absorption properties of 3D flower-like hollow CuS@PANI microspheres in X-band were systematically studied,indicating the minimum reflection loss(RL_(min))of-71.1 dB and effective absorption bandwidth(EAB)covering 81%of test frequency range were achieved with a thickness of 2.75 mm.Excellent EM wave absorption properties of 3D flower-like hollow CuS@PANI microspheres were mainly ascribed to outstanding impedance matching characteristic and dielectric loss capability(conduction loss,interfacial polarization loss and dipole polarization loss).Moreover,due to the distinctive flower-like hollow struc-ture of CuS@PANI microspheres,an additional wave-absorbing mechanism was provided by increasing the transmission paths of EM waves.

Tumor-associated macrophages(TAMs)are an essential proportion of tumor-infiltrating immune cells in the tumor microenvironment(TME)and have immunosuppressive functions.The high plasticity and corresponding phenotypic transformation of TAMs facilitate oncogenesis and progression,and suppress antineoplastic responses.Due to the uncontrolled proliferation of tumor cells,metabolism homeostasis is regulated,leading to a series of alterations in the metabolite profiles in the TME,which have a commensurate influence on immune cells.Metabolic reprogramming of the TME has a profound impact on the polarization and function of TAMs,and can alter their metabolic profiles.TAMs undergo a series of metabolic reprogramming processes,involving glucose,lipid,and amino acid metabolism,and other metabolic pathways,which terminally promote the development of the immunosuppressive phenotype.TAMs express a pro-tumor phenotype by increasing glycolysis,fatty acid oxidation,cholesterol efflux,and arginine,tryptophan,glutamate,and glutamine metabolism.Previous studies on the metabolism of TAMs demonstrated that metabolic reprogramming has intimate crosstalk with anti-tumor or pro-tumor phenotypes and is crucial for the function of TAMs themselves.Targeting metabolism-related pathways is emerging as a promising therapeutic modality because of the massive metabolic remodeling that occurs in malignant cells and TAMs.Evidence reveals that the efficacy of immune checkpoint inhibitors is improved when combined with therapeutic strategies targeting metabolism-related pathways.In-depth research on metabolic reprogramming and potential therapeutic targets provides more options for anti-tumor treatment and creates new directions for the development of new immunotherapy methods.In this review,we elucidate the metabolic reprogramming of TAMs and explore how they sustain immunosuppressive phenotypes to provide a perspective for potential metabolic therapies.

Objective: To investigate the effect and potential mechanism of dihydromyricetin(Dmy) on H9C2 cell proliferation, apoptosis, and autophagy. Methods: H9C2 cells were randomly divided into 7 groups, namely control, model, EV(empty p CDH-CMV-MCS-EF1-Cop GFP-T2A-Puro vector), IV(circHIPK3 interference), Dmy(50 μmol/L), Dmy+IV, and Dmy+EV groups. Cell proliferation and apoptosis were detected by cell counting kit-8 assay and flow cytometry, respectivley. Western blot was used to evaluate the levels of light chain 3 Ⅱ/Ⅰ(LC3Ⅱ/Ⅰ), phospho-phosphoinositide 3-kinase(p-PI3K), protein kinase B(p-AKT), and phospho-mammalian target of rapamycin(p-mTOR). The level of circHIPK3 was determined using reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction. Electron microscopy was used to observe autophagosomes in H9C2 cells. Results: Compared to H9C2 cells, the expression of circHIPK in H9C2 hypoxia model cells increased significantly(P<0.05). Compared to the control group, the cell apoptosis and autophagosomes increased, cell proliferation rate decreased significantly, and the expression of LC3Ⅱ/Ⅰ significantly increased(all P<0.05). Compared to the model group, the rate of apoptosis and autophagosomes in IV, Dmy, and Dmy+IV group decreased, the cell proliferation rate increased, and the expression of LC3Ⅱ/Ⅰ decreased significantly(all P<0.05). Compared to the control group, the expressions of p-PI3K, p-AKT, and p-mTOR in the model group significantly reduced(P<0.05), whereas after treatment with Dmy and sh-circHIPK3, the above situation was reversed(P<0.05). Conclusion: Dmy plays a protective role in H9C2 cells by inhibiting circHIPK expression and cell apoptosis and autophagy, and the mechanism may be related to PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway.

DEAR EDITOR,The Pegasidae family,which includes seven species of seamoths,is widely distributed in the temperate and tropical waters of the Indo-Pacific,ranging from South Africa to Hawaii.In this study,we describe a new species of seamoth,Pegasus sinensis sp.nov.,based on morphological and molecular characterization of 14 specimens collected from the surrounding waters of Xiamen City,Fujian Province,China.The new species differs from closely related P.volitans in both the density and color of spots present on the dorsal and lateral body surfaces.

Fast GNSS Acquisition Algorithm Based on SFFT with High Noise Immunity

The Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS)has been widely used in various fields.To achieve positioning,the receiver must first lock the satellite signal.This is a complicated and expensive process that consumes a lot of resources of the receiver.For this reason,this paper proposes a new fast acquisition algorithm with High Signal-tonoise ratio(SNR)performance based on sparse fast Fourier transform(HSFFT).The algorithm first replaces the IFFT process of the traditional parallel code phase capture algorithm with inverse sparse fast Fourier transform(ISFFT)with better computing performance,and then uses linear search combined with code phase discrimination to replace the positioning loop and the estimation loop with poor noise immunity in ISFFT.Theoretical analysis and simulation results show that,compared with the existing SFFT parallel code phase capture algorithm,the calculation amount of this algorithm is reduced by 19%,and the SNR performance is improved by about 5dB.Compared with the classic FFT parallel code phase capture algorithm,the calculation amount of the algorithm in this paper is reduced by 43%,and when the capture probability is greater than 95%,the SNR performance of the two is approximately the same.

Monogenic disorders refer to a group of human diseases caused by mutations in single genes. While disease-modifying therapies have offered some relief from symptoms and delayed progression for some monogenic diseases, most of these diseases still lack effective treatments. In recent decades, gene therapy has emerged as a promising therapeutic strategy for genetic disorders. Researchers have developed various gene manipulation tools and gene delivery systems to treat monogenic diseases. Despite this progress, concerns about inefficient delivery, persistent expression, immunogenicity, toxicity, capacity limitation, genomic integration, and limited tissue specificity still need to be addressed. This review gives an overview of commonly used gene therapy and delivery tools, along with the challenges they face and potential strategies to counter them.

Cellular senescence and proliferation are essential for wound healing and tissue remodeling.However,senescence-proliferation cell fate after peripheral nerve injury has not been clearly revealed.Here,post-injury gene expression patterns in rat sciatic nerve stumps(SRP113121)and L4–5 dorsal root ganglia(SRP200823)obtained from the National Center for Biotechnology Information were analyzed to decipher cellular senescence and proliferation-associated genetic changes.We first constructed a rat sciatic nerve crush model.Then,β-galactosidase activities were determined to indicate the existence of cellular senescence in the injured sciatic nerve.Ki67 and EdU immunostaining was performed to indicate cellular proliferation in the injured sciatic nerve.Both cellular senescence and proliferation were less vigorous in the dorsal root ganglia than in sciatic nerve stumps.These results reveal the dynamic changes of injury-induced cellular senescence and proliferation from both genetic and morphological aspects,and thus extend our understanding of the biological processes following peripheral nerve injury.The study was approved by the Animal Ethics Committee of Nantong University,China(approval No.20190226-001)on February 26,2019.

A■tā■gah■daya Sa■hitā(Compendium of the Essence of the Eight Branches) is one of the most important works on Ayurvedic medicine from ancient India. It provides a comprehensive overview and synthesis of Ayurvedic theories from different schools of thought. With concise and clear contents, it was an essential textbook for Ayurvedic medicine in India and many other regions at the time it was written. This article summarizes the main contents of the book, reviews the current status of research, and finds that the modern research on A■tā■gah■daya Sa■hitā focuses on religious philosophy, the theory of bodily humors, discussion of drug use, and its relationship with Chinese medicine. The book was widely disseminated in the areas surrounding India and influenced Tibetan and Arabic medicine, as well as multiethnic medicine along the Silk Road.

Widespread and active piezotolerant microorganisms mediate phenolic compound degradation under high hydrostatic pressure in hadal trenches

Phenolic compounds,as well as other aromatic compounds,have been reported to be abundant in hadal trenches.Although high-throughput sequencing studies have hinted at the potential of hadal microbes to degrade these compounds,direct microbiological,genetic and biochemical evidence under in situ pressures remain absent.Here,a microbial consortium and a pure culture of Pseudomonas,newly isolated from Mariana Trench sediments,efficiently degraded phenol under pressures up to 70 and 60 MPa,respectively,with concomitant increase in biomass.By analyzing a high-pressure(70 MPa)culture metatranscriptome,not only was the entire range of metabolic processes under high pressure generated,but also genes encod-ing complete phenol degradation via ortho-and meta-cleavage pathways were revealed.The isolate of Pseudomonas also contained genes encoding the complete degradation pathway.Six transcribed genes(dmpKLMNOP_(sed))were functionally identified to encode a multicomponent hydroxylase catalyzing the hydroxylation of phenol and its methylated derivatives by heterogeneous expression.In addition,key catabolic genes identified in the metatranscriptome of the high-pressure cultures and genomes of bacterial isolates were found to be all widely distributed in 22 published hadal microbial metagenomes.At microbiological,genetic,bioinformatics,and biochemical levels,this study found that microorganisms widely found in hadal trenches were able to effectively drive phenolic compound degradation under high hydrostatic pressures.This information will bridge a knowledge gap concerning the microbial aromatics degradation within hadal trenches.
