AIM： TO investigate the effect of interaction between enteric epithelial cells and lymphocytes of Peyer＇s patch on the release of nitric oxide （NO） and IL-6 in response to Shigella lipopolysaccharide （LPS）. METHODS： Human colonic epithelial cells （Caco-2） were mixed cocultured with lymphocytes of Peyer＇s patch from wild-type （C57 mice） and inducible NO synthase knockout mice, and challenged with Shigella F2a-12 LPS. Release of NO and raiL-6 was measured by Griess colorimetric assay and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay （ELISA）, respectively. RESULTS： In the absence of LPS challenge, NO was detected in the culture medium of Caco-2 epithelial cells but not in lymphocytes of Peyer＇s patch, and the NO release was further up-regulated in both cocultures with lymphocytes from either the wild-type or iNOS knockout mice, with a significantly higher level observed in the coculture with iNOS knockout lymphocytes. After Shigella F2a-12 LPS challenge for 24-h, NO production was significantly increased in both Caco-2 alone and the coculture with lymphocytes of Peyer＇s patch from the wild-type mice but not from iNOS knockout mice. LPS was found to stimulate the release of mIL-6 from lymphocytes, which was suppressed by coculture with Caco-2 epithelial cells. The LPS-induced mIL-6 production in lymphocytes from iNOS knockout mice was significantly greater than that from the wild-type mice. CONCLUSION： Lymphocytes of Peyer＇s patch maintain a constitutive basal level of NO production from the enteric epithelial cell Caco-2. LPS-induced mIL-6 release from lymphocytes of Peyer＇s patch is suppressed by the cocultured epithelial cells. While no changes are detectable in NO production in lymphocytes from both wild-type and iNOS knockout mice before and after LPS challenge, NO from lymphocytes appears to play an inhibitory role in epithelial NO release and their own mIL-6 release in response to LPS.

As the western boundary of the Sichuan-Yunnan block(SYB),the Red River fault(RRF)is a major fault that controls deep crustal movement and deformation in the southeast margin of the Tibetan Plateau and regulates middle-lower crustal *** data suggest that the RRF is segmented and exhibits distinct variations in seismicity,velocity structure and crustal deformation from north to *** anisotropy reveals a complex pattern of lateral spatial and vertical stratified distributions.(1)From the perspective of crustal stratification,in the upper crust,the fast wave polarization in the north segment of the RRF is complex and possibly influenced by the Sanjiang lateral collision zone and adjacent faults with varying *** fast wave polarization in the middle segment is in the NW-SE direction,indicating a localized area of closed down or locked up with consistent *** in the south segment,it presents a disordered pattern,signifying complex deep tectonics and stress conditions at the wedged intersection *** the middle-lower crust in the north and south segments of the RRF,the azimuthal anisotropy is strong and consistent with the spatial strike of the weak zone characterized by low-velocity and *** suggests a connection between the anisotropy and the material migration.(2)In the whole crustal scale,the fast wave directions in two sides of the RRF are consistent with the NW-SE tectonic *** indicates that the RRF,as a large fault potentially cutting through the whole crust,strongly controls the surrounding media.(3)In the lithospheric scale,the fast wave polarizations are oriented nearly E-W and independent of the fault strike,consistent with the low P-and S-wave velocity structures and positive radial anisotropy in the upper *** fast wave directions could be related to lithospheric olivine deformation and asthenospheric *** paper suggests a decoupling of deformation between the crust and the lithospheri

It has been reported both in clinic and rodent models that beyond spinal cord injury directly induced symptoms, such as paralysis, neuropathic pain, bladder/bowel dysfunction, and loss of sexual function, there are a variety of secondary complications, including memory loss, cognitive decline, depression, and Alzheimer's disease. The largescale longitudinal population-based studies indicate that post-trauma depression is highly prevalent in spinal cord injury patients. Yet, few basic studies have been conducted to address the potential molecular mechanisms. One of possible factors underlying the depression is the reduction of adult hippocampal neurogenesis which may come from less physical activity, social isolation, chronic pain, and elevated neuroinflammation after spinal cord injury. However, there is no clear consensus yet. In this review, we will first summarize the alteration of hippocampal neurogenesis post-spinal cord injury. Then, we will discuss possible mechanisms underlie this important spinal cord injury consequence. Finally, we will outline the potential therapeutic options aimed at enhancing hippocampal neurogenesis to ameliorate depression.

The increasing integration of intermittent renewable energy sources(RESs)poses great challenges to active distribution networks(ADNs),such as frequent voltage *** paper proposes a novel ADN strategy based on multiagent deep reinforcement learning(MADRL),which harnesses the regulating function of switch state transitions for the realtime voltage regulation and loss *** deploying the calculated optimal switch topologies,the distribution network operator will dynamically adjust the distributed energy resources(DERs)to enhance the operation performance of ADNs based on the policies trained by the MADRL *** to the model-free characteristics and the generalization of deep reinforcement learning,the proposed strategy can still achieve optimization objectives even when applied to similar but unseen ***,integrating parameter sharing(PS)and prioritized experience replay(PER)mechanisms substantially improves the strategic performance and *** framework has been tested on modified IEEE 33-bus,IEEE 118-bus,and three-phase unbalanced 123-bus *** results demonstrate the significant real-time regulation capabilities of the proposed strategy.
