The juvenile-to-adult phase change with first flowering as the indicator plays a crucial role in the lifecycle of fruit trees. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying phase change in fruit trees remain largely unknown. Shikimic acid (ShA) pathway is a main metabolic pathway closely related to the synthesis of hormones and many important secondary metabolites participating in plant phase change. So,whether ShA regulates phase change in plants is worth clarifying. Here, the distinct morphological characteristics and the underlying mechanisms of phase change in jujube (Ziziphus jujuba Mill.), an important fruit tree native to China with nutritious fruit and outstanding tolerance abiotic stresses, were clarified. A combined transcriptome and metabolome analysis found that ShA is positively involved in jujube(Yuhong’×Xing 16’) phase change. The genes in the upstream of ShA synthesis pathway (ZjDAHPS, ZjDHQS and ZjSDH), the contents of ShA and the downstream secondary metabolites like phenols were significantly upregulated in the phase change period. Further, the treatment of spraying exogenous ShA verified that ShA at a very low concentration (60 mg·L^(-1)) can substantially speed up the phase change and flowering of jujube and other tested plants including Arabidopsis, tomato and wheat. The exogenous ShA (60 mg·L^(-1)) treatment in jujube seedlings could increase the accumulation of endogenous ShA, enhance leaf photosynthesis and the synthesis of phenols especially flavonoids and phenolic acids, and promote the expression of genes (ZjCOs, ZjNFYs and ZjPHYs) involved in flowering pathway. Basing on above results, we put forward a propose for the underlying mechanism of ShA regulating phase change, and a hypothesis that ShA could be considered a phytohormone-like substance because it is endogenous, ubiquitous, movable and highly efficient at very low concentrations. Ultra-thin electromagnetic wave(EMW)absorbers present challenging demands on EMW absorption *** inspiration from heather leaf structures,this study introduces an innovative design strategy for EMW absorbing material,proposing biomimetic leaf SnO_(2) structures(bio-SnO_(2))on carbon fabric(CF).By employing leaf-shaped SnS2 as precursors,biomimetic leaf SnO_(2) nanostructures are constructed on CF surface after a simple thermal treatment,resulting in bio-SnO_(2)@CF *** results indicate that bio-SnO_(2)@CF exhibits an exceptional minimum reflection loss of-54.8 dB at an incredibly thin thickness of 1.2 *** cross section(RCS)simulations further validate the outstanding EMW attenuation ability of bio-SnO_(2)@CF,attaining a maximum RCS reduction value of 16.9 dBm^(2) at an incident wave angle ofθ=0°.This novel research showcases the biomimetic structural design strategy and its remarkable function in enhancing the EMW absorbing performance at ultra-thin absorber thickness.

Background This retrospective study assessed the efficacy and safety of ketogenic diet therapies in children with epilepsy caused by SLC2A1 genetic mutations and glucose transporter type 1 deficiency *** Pediatric patients with epilepsy symptoms admitted to our medical center between January 2017 and October 2021 were included if they presented with an SLC2A1 genetic mutation on whole-exome *** analyzed the patients’convulsions and treatment with antiepileptic *** patients were followed up at different time periods after ketogenic diet *** Six patients with SLC2A1 mutations were included in this *** patients had seizures of different types and frequencies,and they took antiepileptic drugs to relieve their *** were then treated with a ketogenic diet for at least four *** analyzed epilepsy control rates at 1,2,3,6,and 12 months after ketogenic diet *** patients were seizure-free within a month of receiving the diet *** patients were followed up for six months,three were followed up for 12 months after the treatment,and there was no recurrence of epilepsy during this *** antiepileptic drug withdrawal,none of the patients experienced seizure relapse when receiving ketogenic diet treatment *** severe adverse events occurred during the *** Ketogenic diet therapy is very effective and safe for the treatment of epilepsy caused by SLC2A1 ***,patients with glucose transporter type 1 deficiency syndrome caused by SLC2A1 mutations should begin ketogenic diet treatment as soon as possible.

The use of lithium-sulfur batteries under high sulfur loading and low electrolyte concentrations is severely restricted by the detrimental shuttling behavior of polysulfides and the sluggish kinetics in redox ***-dimensional(2D)few layered black phosphorus with fully exposed atoms and high sulfur affinity can be potential lithium-sulfur battery electrocatalysts,which,however,have limitations of restricted catalytic activity and poor electrochemical/chemical *** resolve these issues,we developed a multifunctional metal-free catalyst by covalently bonding few layered black phosphorus nanosheets with nitrogen-doped carbon-coated multiwalled carbon nanotubes(denoted c-FBP-NC).The experimental characterizations and theoretical calculations show that the formed polarized P-N covalent bonds in c-FBP-NC can efficiently regulate electron transfer from NC to FBP and significantly promote the capture and catalysis of lithium polysulfides,thus alleviating the shuttle ***,the robust 1D-2D interwoven structure with large surface area and high porosity allows strong physical confinement and fast mass ***,with c-FBP-NC as the sulfur host,the battery shows a high areal capacity of 7.69 mAh cm^(−2) under high sulfur loading of 8.74 mg cm^(−2) and a low electrolyte/sulfur ratio of 5.7μL mg^(−1).Moreover,the assembled pouch cell with sulfur loading of 4 mg cm^(−2) and an electrolyte/sulfur ratio of 3.5μL mg^(−1) shows good rate capability and outstanding *** work proposes an interfacial and electronic structure engineering strategy for fast and durable sulfur electrochemistry,demonstrating great potential in lithium-sulfur batteries.
