Lipschitz-continuity of Spherically Convex Functions

In this article,some basic and important properties of spherically convex functions,such as the Lipschitz-continuity,are investigated.It is shown that,under a weaker condition,every family of spherically convex functions is equi-Lipschitzian on each closed spherically convex subset contained in the relative interior of their common domain,and from which a powerful result is derived:the pointwise convergence of a sequence of spherically convex functions implies its uniform convergence on each closed spherically convex subset contained in the relative interior of their common domain.

Vision-based target motion estimation based Kalman filtering or least-squares estimators is an important problem in many tasks such as vision-based swarming or vision-based target pursuit.In this paper,we focus on a problem that is very specific yet we believe important.That is,from the vision measurements,we can formulate various measurements.Which and how the measurements should be used?These problems are very fundamental,but we notice that practitioners usually do not pay special attention to them and often make mistakes.Motivated by this,we formulate three pseudo-linear measurements based on the bearing and angle measurements,which are standard vision measurements that can be obtained.Different estimators based on Kalman filtering and least-squares estimation are established and compared based on numerical experiments.It is revealed that correctly analyzing the covariance noises is critical for the Kalman filtering-based estimators.When the variance of the original measurement noise is unknown,the pseudo-linear least-squares estimator that has the smallest magnitude of the transformed noise can be a good choice.

Ultrathin nanosheets, which are often prepared from bulk crystals by exfoliating, represent an intriguing type of twodimensional (2D) materials with mechanical, electronic,optical, and thermal properties that are distinct from their pristine bulk crystals. They are promising in various applications, including (opto)electronics, chemical sensing, catalysis, and separation, because of their unique properties and high surface area. Previously, the operationally simple exfoliation method is only applicable to bulk crystals with weak interactions between the layers.

Polymer functionalization is a powerful tool to prepare polymers with diverse structures without the need of synthesizing monomers or performing polymerization reactions.Polymers that are difficult to be synthesized using direct polymerization reactions can be accessed using polymer functionalization.We herein present Mitsunobu derivatization of poly(vinyl alcohol)(PVA)to convert the hydroxyl groups into diverse functional groups.

Sanhuang chicken is a popular native breed in China and well-known for delicious flavour.Spices could enhance the chicken meat flavour and work well in preservation.Chinese 5-spice blend(CS)and garam masala(GM)are routinely using spices in China and Pakistan,respectively.The flavour profiles of Sanhuang chicken breast(CB)and its blends with CS and GM were obtained by electronic nose(E-nose),solid-phase microextraction gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(SPME GC-MS)and GC-ion mobility spectrometry(GC-IMS).Principal component analysis(PCA)efficiently discriminated the aroma profiles of three chicken formulations.The GC-chromatographs revealed the significant aroma alterations of chicken breast meat after marination with spices.Aldehydes were the major contributors of chicken aroma,while most of the aromatic hydrocarbons were generated by spices.Almost all chicken key-compounds produced by oxidation reaction were either reduced or eliminated by marination,showing the antioxidation capacity of spices leading to meat preservation.GC-IMS is not only a rapid and comprehensive detection method,but also proved to be more sensitive than GC-MS.The substantial role of both traditional spices in enhancing flavour quality of chicken meat,and their exposure as functional ingredients in Chinese and Pakistan cuisines could lead to the cross-cultural meat trade opportunities.

Nutrient levels in the artificial channel constructed for the Middle Route Project are significant indicators of water quality safety and aquatic ecological integrity for this large,interbasin scheme.However,the distribution and transport of nutrients along the channel were poorly understood.Based on a time-series dataset as well as mass balance and material flow analysis methods,the water and nutrient transport fluxes in the Middle Route of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project were identified in this study.The results indicate that the nutrient concentrations varied considerably with time,but there was no significant difference among the 30 stations of the main channel.Seasonal temperature difference was the major factor in the large fluctuations of water quality indicators over time.The nutrient loadings varied with the water volume outputs from the main channel to the waterreceiving cities.Atmospheric deposition was an important source of nutrients in the main channel,accounting for 9.13%,20.6%,and 0.635%of the nitrogen,phosphorus,and sulfur input from the Danjiangkou Reservoir,respectively.In 2021,a net accumulation of 988 tons of N,29 tons of P,and 2,540 tons of S,respectively,were present in the main channel.The increase of these external and internal nutrient loadings would cause water quality fluctuation and deterioration in some local sections of the main channel.Our study quantified the spatial and temporal patterns of nutrient transport in the Middle Route and revealed the ecological effects on the aquatic environment,assisting authorities on the project to develop effective water conservation strategies.

We exhibit an explicit formula for the cardinality of solutions to a class of quadratic matrix equations over finite fields.We prove that the orbits of these solutions under the natural conjugation action of the general linear groups can be separated by classical conjugation invariants defined by characteristic polynomials.We also find a generating set for the vanishing ideal of these orbits.

The intention of achieving objectives through art seemingly conflicts with Kant's tenet that judgments of taste should be devoid of conceptual determinations.According to Kant,beautiful art must be viewed as the product of genius,a rare gift of nature that operates through the work of aesthetic ideas.This prompts inquiries into the respective roles of genius and taste in the production of beautiful art.It has been proposed that genius is a mere concept,a universal capacity,or a collaborator with taste,but these accounts are found to be deficient.Drawing upon Kant's distinction between free beauty and adherent beauty,this paper demonstrates that genius is neither sufficient nor necessary to produce beautiful art.Furthermore,this paper investigates the significance of taste in artistic production,taking into consideration the autonomy and refinement of taste over time.

Metal nanoparticles in porous supports are of great importance for catalysis, separation and sensing, but their controllable preparation is still largely unmet. Herein, we describe a simple laser-induced synthesis of ultrafine gold nanoparticles in the covalent organic framework. Gold nanoparticles are well embedded, and they are about (1±0.1) nm in size. This work is universal for the preparation of well-dispersed and ultrafine metal nanoparticles in porous supports.
