Mesenchymal stromal cells(MSCs)have attracted intense interest in the field of dental tissue *** tissue is a popular source of MSCs because MSCs can be obtained with minimally invasive *** possess distinct inherent properties of self-renewal,immunomodulation,proangiogenic potential,and multilineage potency,as well as being readily available and easy to ***,major issues,including poor engraftment and low survival rates in vivo,remain to be resolved before large-scale application is feasible in clinical ***,some recent investigations have sought ways to optimize MSC functions in vitro and in ***,priming culture conditions,pretreatment with mechanical and physical stimuli,preconditioning with cytokines and growth factors,and genetic modification of MSCs are considered to be the main strategies;all of which could contribute to improving MSC efficacy in dental regenerative *** in this field has made tremendous progress and continues to gather interest and stimulate *** this review,we summarize the priming approaches for enhancing the intrinsic biological properties of MSCs such as migration,antiapoptotic effect,proangiogenic potential,and regenerative *** in current approaches associated with MSC modification and possible future solutions are also *** aim to outline the present understanding of priming approaches to improve the therapeutic effects of MSCs on dental tissue regeneration.

Spectrophotometric Study on Some Amino Acid Drugs with Chloranil and its Analytical Application

The interaction between amino acid drugs, aminobutyric acid, carbocisteine and levodopa, with chloranil was studied spectrophotometrically. The conditions were investigated and optimized. The interaction obeyed Beer＇s law over the range of 0.2-8.7, 1.2-20 and 2-26.4 μg/mL for aminobutyric acid, carbocisteine and levodopa, respectively. The validity was compared with that by the official methods^1,3,5 and the recovery studies of standard addition method, the result is satisfactory. The proposed method has been successfully applied to the determination of the above drugs in tablets.

Temporal dynamics and spatial variations of forest vegetation carbon stock in Liaoning Province, China

There are many uncertainties in the estimation of forest carbon sequestration in China, especially in Liaoning Province where various forest inventory data have not been fully utilized. By using forest inventory data, we estimated forest vegetation carbon stock of Liaoning Province between 1993 and 2005. Results showed that forest biomass carbon stock increased from 68.91 Tg C in 1993 to 97.51 Tg C in 2005, whereas mean carbon density increased from 18.48 Mg·ha^-1 C to 22.33 Mg·ha^-1 C. The carbon storage of young- and middle-aged forests increased by 22.1 Tg C and 5.95 Tg C, but that of mature forests has decreased by 0.25 Tg C. The carbon stock and density of forests in Liaon- ing Province varied greatly in space： larger carbon storage and higher carbon density were primarily found in the east area. The spatial distribution of carbon density was determined by many factors, of which human activities played an important role. The forests in Liaoning Province played a positive role as a sink of atmospheric carbon dioxide. The carbon fixation ability of forests in this area was primarily derived from forest plantation and the total forest carbon sequestration can be enhanced by expanding young- and middle-aged forests.

Effects of yttrium and phosphorus on growth and physiological characteristics of Microcystis aeruginosa

Yttrium is a main kind of rare earth elements（REEs） with wide applications in modern industry and farming. Phosphorus, an essential element of algae, is used as the nutrients and also one of the main factors of eutrophication. To investigate the effects of yttrium and phosphorus on Microcystis aeruginosa（M. aeruginosa）, the growth and physiological changes were studied by lab cultured experiments. In the experiment, exogenous yttrium was tested by a concentration gradient（0.0, 0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 1.0 mg/L）,meanwhile, phosphorus was tested by three concentrations（0.0, 0.02, 0.2 mg/L）. The results show that the contents of chlorophyll a（chl-a） and soluble protein increase compared with the control and they have certain correlation with algal cells density. The growth status of algae is stimulated by initial yttrium concentration 〈0.3 and 0.2 mg/L phosphorus, while it is inhabited by 0.5 and 1.0 mg/L yttrium. Besides,the activity of superoxide dismutase（SOD） of algae increases with addition of yttrium dose（0-0.3 mg/L）when phosphorus dose is 0.2 mg/L. Furthermore, when yttrium dose is 0.5 and 1.0 mg/L, the vitality of SOD presents a sharp decline. The malondialdehyde（MDA） contents increase with time and addition of yttrium dose, 0.2 mg/L phosphorus weakens the accumulation of MDA.

Modeling and Analysis for Supply Chain Using Stochastic Process Algebra

In order to improve the influence of the uncertain and dynamic of node enterprise behavior on the performance of supply chain,the method based on stochastic process algebra for description,analysis,validation and evaluation of supply chain business process model is ***,the description of the uncertainty of node enterprise behavior is given using the extended Unified Modeling Language sequence diagram,and mapping rule is defined from the extended Unified Modeling Language sequence diagram to stochastic process ***,on the basis of the acquired stochastic process algebra model,the supply chain business process model is verified with Mobility ***,according to the operational semantics of stochastic process algebra,the continuous-time Markov chain,isomorphic with stochastic process algebra model,is built; and the system performance evaluation of transient status and stable status is respectively conducted in accordance with Markov transfer relations and the current state of system,obtaining the predicted performance value and average performance index value for a specific period of *** simulation experiments show that the proposed method can accurately describe the stochastic behaviors of supply chain system and interactions among nodes,effectively verify the validity of the model,and objectively and exactly evaluate design of the supply chain.

Disentangling the factors that contribute to variation in forest biomass increments in the mid-subtropical forests of China

Mid-subtropical forests are the main vegetation type of global terrestrial biomes, and are critical for maintaining the global carbon balance. However, estimates of forest biomass increment in mid-subtropical forests remain highly uncertain. It is critically important to determine the relative importance of different biotic and abiotic factors between plants and soil, particularly with respect to their influence on plant regrowth. Consequently,it is necessary to quantitatively characterize the dynamicspatiotemporal distribution of forest carbon sinks at a regional scale. This study used a large, long-term dataset in a boosted regression tree（BRT） model to determine the major components that quantitatively control forest biomass increments in a mid-subtropical forested region（Wuyishan National Nature Reserve, China）. Long-term,stand-level data were used to derive the forest biomass increment, with the BRT model being applied to quantify the relative contributions of various biotic and abiotic variables to forest biomass increment. Our data show that total biomass（t） increased from 4.62 9 106 to 5.30 9 106 t between 1988 and 2010, and that the mean biomass increased from 80.19 ± 0.39 t ha-1（mean ± standard error） to 94.33 ± 0.41 t ha-1in the study region. The major factors that controlled biomass（in decreasing order of importance） were the stand, topography, and soil. Stand density was initially the most important stand factor, while elevation was the most important topographic factor. Soil factors were important for forest biomass increment but have a much weaker influence compared to the other two controlling factors. These results provide baseline information about the practical utility of spatial interpolationmethods for mapping forest biomass increments at regional scales.

Preventive effect of regional radiotherapy with phosphorus-32 glass microspheres in hepatocellular carcinoma recurrence after hepatectomy

AIM: To evaluate the preventive effects of phosph-orus-32 glass microspheres (P32-GMS) in the recurrence of massive hepatocellular carcinomas (HCCs) after tumor resection. METHODS: Twenty-nine patients with massive HCCs received local P32-GMS implantation after liver tumors were removed,while the other 38 patients with massive HCCs were not treated with P32-GMS after hepatectomies. The radioactivity of the blood,urine and liver were examined. The complications,HCC recurrence and overall survival rates in the patients were analyzed. RESULTS: P32-GMS implanted in the liver did not cause systemic absorption of P32. There were no significant differences of postoperative complications between the patients with and without P32-GMS treatment. The short-term (six months and 1 year) and long-term (2,3 and over 3 years) recurrence rates in patients who received P32-GMS radiotherapy were signifi cantly decreased,and the overall survival rates in this group were signifi cantly improved. CONCLUSION: P32-GMS implantation in the liver can significantly decrease the postoperative recurrence and improve the overall survival in HCCs patients after hepatectomy. This therapy may provide an innovative method in prevention of HCC recurrence after operation.

We quantified deviations in regional forest biomass from simple extrapolation of plot data by the biomass expansion factor method（BEF） versus estimates obtained from a local biomass model,based on large-scale empirical field inventory sampling *** sources and relative contributions of deviations between the two models were analyzed by the boosted regression trees *** to the local model,BEF overestimated accumulative biomass by 22.12%.The predominant sources of the total deviation （70.94%） were stand-structure *** age and diameter at breast height are the major *** with biotic variables,abiotic variables had a smaller overall contribution （29.06%）,with elevation and soil depth being the most important among the examined abiotic *** deviations in regional forest biomass and carbon stock estimates are likely to be obtained with BEF relative to estimates based on local *** minimize deviations,stand age and elevation should be included in regional forest-biomass estimation.

A study of portal vein embolization with absolute ethanol injection in cirrhotic rats

AIM To investigate the effects of portal vein embolization (PVE) with absolute ethanol injection on the cirrhotic *** Absolute ethanol was injected intraportally into normal and cirrhotic SD rats and the changes of the animals in anatomy, pathology, liver function as well as portal hemodynamics were *** At a dose of 0.05mL/100g of ethanol, the survival rate was 100% in normal rats compared with 40.9% in cirrhotic rats. PVE in the cirrhotic rats with 0.03mL/100g of ethanol, caused significant hypertrophy in non-embolized lobes, mild or moderate damage to the hepatic parenchyma, slight and transient alterations in liver function, portal pressure and portal *** PVE with absolute ethanol injection in the setting of liver cirrhosis could be safe at an appropriate dose, and precautions aimed at preserving liver function were *** vein embolization (PVE) plays an important role in the management of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). We modified the conventional method of transcatheter embolization and developed a new PVE technique with ethanol injection via a fine needle in experimental study[1] and subsequent clinical application under guidance of portoechography[2]. To further elucidate the therapeutic basis of this technique, particularly its effects on the cirrhotic liver, we observed the alterations in liver anatomy, pathology, biochemistry and portal hemodynamics in cirrhotic rats undergoing PVE with ethanol injection.

SIMYB1 and SIMYB2, two new MYB genes from tomato, transcriptionally regulate cellulose biosynthesis in tobacco

Cellulose, a major constituent of plant biomass, is synthesized by a cellulose synthase complex. It has been demonstrated that MYB genes transcriptionally regulate cellulose synthase in Arabidopsis. However, little is known about this process in tomato. Here, two MYB （SIMYB1/2） and three cellulose synthase （CESA）（SICESA41516） genes were isolated. SIMYB1/2 and SICESA4/5/6 accumulation was found to correspond to cellulose accumulation in different tissues of tomato. Dual luciferase assays indicated that these two MYBs were transcriptional activators that interact with promoters of SICESA4/5/6. Moreover, SIMYB2 could also activate promoters of SIMYB1/2, suggesting the possible underlying auto-activation mech- anisms for MYB transcription factors. Transient over-expression of SlMYB1/2 in Nicotiana tabacum up-regulated tobacco endogenous NtCESA genes and increased cellulose accumulation. The function of SIMYB112 was further investigated using stable transformation and the results indicated that N. tabacum lines heterologous expressing SIMYB1/2 displayed a pleiotropic phenotype, long and narrow leaves, with NtCESA induced and significant increase of cellulose. In conclusion, our data suggest that tomato SIMYB1/2 have transcriptional regulatory roles in cellulose biosynthesis and SIMYB2 was more effective than SIMYB1, which may due to the transcriptional activation by SIMYB2 on SIMYB1 and itself.
