Selective capture and separation of xenon and krypton using metal organic frameworks: a review

Xenon and krypton are widespread useful noble gases in commercial lighting, lasers, electronics, and medical industry. At the same time, radioactive noble gases may proliferate from used nuclear fuel and diffuse in open atmospheres. Metal organic frameworks as hotspot porous materials for gases uptake and separation are considered to be potential solutions. In this review, we comprehensively summarized recent researches on metal organic frameworks for selective capture and separation of xenon and krypton. Particularly, we followed the aspects of different optimal design strategies, including optimal pore/cage size and geometry, open metal sites, ions (anions and cations), and polar functional groups for enhancing the xenon adsorption and separation performances. Meanwhile, a comparison of each strategy and the mechanisms of xenon/krypton separation were pointed out. The separation of krypton from gases mixtures by dual-bed systems was further discussed. Finally, some existing challenges and opportunities for possible real applications were proclaimed.

In DEM generation using interferometric synthetic aperture radar(InSAR),the ground control points(GCPs)for refinement and reflattening are usually selected by manual selection,field surveying,GPS points and existing basemaps,which may not be completely suitable for consequent *** proposed a new method(auto-PS-GCP)of GCP selection based on permanent scatterers,which automatically defines the thresholds for the coherence,amplitude,and amplitude dispersion index to select permanent scatterer as the *** GCP thinning(auto-PS-GCP-Thin)was further conducted considering the point density,distances among points and terrain *** used a three-stage assessment that includes:(1)phase stability and intensity of the GCPs,(2)RMSEs of the elevations between GCPs and homonymous points in the reference DEM,and(3)generated DEM *** areas respectively in the plain,hilly and mountainous regions were selected to verify the proposed *** assessment using both SRTM DEM andICESat-2 points shows that the DEM accuracy of auto-PS-GCP-Thin was improved by 20%∼30%for different areas compared to the manual,where the best DEM accuracy of 4.71 m was found in the plain *** is concluded that the proposed methods are effective and reliable in various areas with different terrain conditions.

The effects of factor generalization scales on the reproduction of dynamic urban growth

The production and selection of driving factors are essential to building a strong Cellular Automata(CA)model of dynamic urban growth simulation.A critical issue that should be addressed is how the spatial representation and the generalization scale of driving factors affect the CA modeling and the simulation *** is challenging to evaluate the effectiveness of the selected driving factors because they have no true *** explore the impacts of the generalization scales,we produced nine sets of driving factors at nine scales to calibrate the CA models based on the Particle Swarm Optimization(CAPSO)and applied them to simulate urban growth of Suzhou during *** results show that the driving factors at a smaller scale have much better performance in explaining urban growth simulations as inferred by the Explained Residual Deviance(ERD)of the Generalized Additive Models(GAMs).Specifically,the ERD declined from 51.9%to 45.9%as the factor scale became larger during 2000-2020,but there was a peak value(52.2%)at *** all simulations during 2000-2020,the CAPSO models with larger-scale factors have slightly lower overall accuracy and Figure-of-Merit(FOM),which respectively decreased by 3.1%and 4.4%as compared to the CA models with scale-free *** concluded that the driving factors at a smaller scale(200~400 m for point-like facilities and 7~14 m for line-like facilities)can build more accurate CA models to simulate urban growth patterns,and the optimal scale for factors can be identified using the *** study contributes to the methods of evaluating the effectiveness of driving factor production and reveals the impacts of spatial representation of factors on the CA modeling and simulation considering the factor generalization scales.

Background It has been argued that the benefits of reducing sodium loading may be offset by increased activation of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system （RAAS） and sympathetic nervous system. This study aimed to investigate the long-term effects of an increase in dialysis sodium removal on circulating RAAS and sympathetic system in hypertensive hemodialysis （HD） patients with ＂normal＂ post-HD volume status. Methods Thirty hypertensive HD patients were enrolled in this pilot trial. After one month period of dialysis with standard dialysate sodium of 138 mmol/L, the patients were followed up for a four months period with dialysate sodium set at 136 retool/L, without changes in instructions regarding dietary sodium control. During the period of study, the dry weight was adjusted monthly under the guidance of bioimpedance spectroscopy to maintain post-HD volume status in a steady state; 44-hour ambulatory blood pressure, plasma renin, angiotensin II （Ang II）, aldosterone, and norepinephrine （NE） were measured. Results After four months of HD with low dialysate sodium of 136 mmol/L, 44-hour systolic and diastolic blood pressures （BPs） were significantly lower （-10 and -6 mmHg）, in the absence of changes in antihypertensive medications. No significant changes were observed in plasma renin, Ang II, aldosterone, and NE concentrations. The post-HD volume parameters were kept constant. Conclusion Mildly increasing dialysis sodium removal over 4 months can significantly improve BP control and does not activate circulating RAAS and sympathetic nervous system in hypertensive HD patients. 为解决时空尺度上扑翼流动控制方程求解需要花费大量时间和计算资源的问题,基于强非线性曲线拟合能力的物理信息神经网络(PINN)深度学习方法,提出了一种混合粗糙数据驱动物理信息神经网络模型(HCDD-PINN),研究了模型对涉及非定常流动特征和动边界二维俯仰扑翼问题的训练和预测性能。通过使用相较于传统计算流体动力学方法(CFD)更为粗糙的数据驱动模型训练,将扑翼流动控制方程嵌入神经网络损失中,并施加初始条件和边界条件约束,采用一阶自适应矩优化算法(ADAM)和二阶拟牛顿法优化算法(L-BFGS-B),以前馈-反向传播方式最小化模型损失函数,从而提高模型预测控制方程数值解的准确性和可靠性。结果表明:与原始PINN模型相比,HCDD-PINN模型显著降低了流场的预测误差,能够准确地预测扑翼瞬时气动力和瞬时速度及压力场,训练时间缩短了75%。此外,训练完成的HCDD-PINN模型可以快速获得流场任意时刻的物理信息,而传统CFD方法则需要重新对流场进行计算。该研究为求解扑翼流动控制方程乃至流体非线性偏微分方程组(PDEs)提供了一种有效的替代方案。

In-situ synthesis of layered double hydroxides with tunable basal spacing for efficient iodide over iodate adsorption selectivity

Separating I-3and IO-3from aqueous solutions is technically challenging due to their very similar charge ***,we describe the in-situ synthesis of cobalt-based layered double hydroxides （Co-LDHs） by decomposition of zeolite imidazole framework （ZIF） nanocrystals,whilst modulating the basal spacing in the Co-LDHs through anion intercalation （such as Br-,NO-3,and ClO-4）.Co-LDH-NO-3possesses an optimal basal spacing of～4.69?,which is slightly smaller than the van der Waals diameter of IO-3（～4.79?）,thus enabling selective adsorption of linear I-3（diameter～4.22?） via ion exchange in the LDH ***-LDH-NO-3showed ultrafast I-3uptake kinetics involving strong“host-guest”interaction forces,achieving high dynamic uptake capacities of 119.94 and 127.18 mg/g in I-3/IO-3contaminated groundwater and tap water,respectively,and～100%separation efficiencies towards I-3over ***-LDH-Br-with a smaller basal spacing （4.06?） exhibited much slower separation kinetics,and Co-LDH-ClO-4with a～5.36?basal spacing demonstrated poor separation efficiency under similar *** initio molecular dynamics （AIMD） simulations were used to visually simulate the ion exchange process,with the results being consistent with the experimental ***,Co-LDH-NO-3demonstrated excellent reusability during dynamic breakthrough tests and I-3/IO-3separation cycles due to a“special memory effect”of the 2D *** work guides adsorbent design for the efficient removal and separation of iodine species from contaminated water.

Early insulin therapy is capable to achieve glycemic control and restoreβ-cell function in newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes(T2D),but its effect on cardiovascular outcomes in these patients remains *** this nationwide real-world study,we analyzed electronic health record data from 19 medical centers across China between 1 January 2000,and 26 May *** included 5424 eligible patients(mean age 56 years,2176 women/3248 men)who were diagnosed T2D within six months and did not have prior cardiovascular *** Cox regression models were used to estimate the associations of early insulin therapy(defined as the first-line therapy for at least two weeks in newly diagnosed T2D patients)with the incidence of major cardiovascular events including coronary heart disease(CHD),stroke,and hospitalization for heart failure(HF).During 17,158 persons years of observation,we documented 834 incident CHD cases,719 stroke cases,and 230 hospitalized cases for *** diagnosed T2D patients who received early insulin therapy,compared with those who did not receive such treatment,had 31%lower risk of incident stroke,and 28%lower risk of hospitalization for *** significant difference in the risk of CHD was *** found similar results when repeating the aforesaid analysis in a propensity-score matched population of 4578 patients and with inverse probability of treatment weighting *** findings suggest that early insulin therapy in newly diagnosed T2D may have cardiovascular benefits by reducing the risk of incident stroke and hospitalization for HF.
