objective: To investigate the antimicrobial susceptibility of 97 clinical Staphylococcus aureus(S. aureus) strains against 14 antimicrobials and corresponding resistance ***: The antimicrobial susceptibility of the isolates was determined using a disk diffusion method and antimicrobial resistance genes were screened by polymerase chain reaction. Mutations responsible for ciprofloxacin and rifampicin resistance were investigated by polymerase chain reaction and DNA ***: All isolates were found to be susceptible to vancomycin. Various rates of resistance to penicillin(83.5%), ampicillin(77.3%), erythromycin(63.9%), tetracycline(16.5%), amoxicillin/clavulanic acid(16.5%), ciprofloxacin(15.5%), trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole(15.5%), oxacillin(13.4%), fusidic acid(12.4%), rifampin(6.2%), clindamycin(6.2%), gentamicin(6.2%) and mupirocin(5.2%) were determined. In addition,different combinations of resistance genes were identified among resistant *** resistant isolates had mutations in codon 84(Ser84 Leu) and 106(Gly106 Asp) in the gyr A gene. Mutations in grl A were mostly related to Ser80 Phe substitution. Leu466 Ser mutation in the rpo B gene was detected in all rifampin resistant isolates. All methicillin resistant S. aureus isolates were SCCmec type ***: In conclusion, it was determined that the isolates were resistant to different classes of antimicrobials at varying rates and resistance was mediated by different genetic mechanisms. Therefore, continuous monitoring of resistance in S. aureus strains is necessary to control their resistance for clinically important antimicrobials.

Two vic-dioxime ligands （LxH2） containing morpholine group have been synthesized from 4-[2-（dimethylaminoethyl）] morpholine with anti-phenylchloroglyoxime or anti-monochloroglyoxime in absolute THF at -15 ℃. Reaction of two vic-dioxime ligands with MCl2·nH2o （M： Ni, Cu or Co and n=2 or 6） salts in 1 ： 2 molar ratio afforded metal complexes of type [M（LxH）2] or [M（LxH）2·2H2o]. All of metal complexes are non-electrolytes as shown by their molar conductivities （Am） in DMF （dimethyl formamide） at 10^-3 mol·L^-1. Structures of the ligands and metal complexes have been solved by elemental analyses, FT-IR, UV-Vis, ^1H NMR and ^13C NMR, magnetic susceptibility measurements, molar conductivity measurements. Furthermore, redox properties of the metal complexes were investigated by cyclic voltammetry.

objective:To determine biofilm and hydrophobicity formation ratios in extended spectrum beta lactamases(ESBL) synthesizing Escherichia coli isolates which were isolated from feces samples of 150 cage bird species randomly taken from pet shops in Hatay province,***:In vitro biofilm production of 4 ESBL positive isolates were performed by Congo Red Agar(CRA),Standard Tube(ST) and Microtitre Plate(MP) methods while their hydrophobicity were examined by bacterial adhesion to hydrocarbon(BATH) ***:In the examined isolates,while biofilm production was found to be negative by CRA method,highest biofilm producing strain,among 4 bacteria was determined to be A42 by ST and MP *** Scanning Electron Microscopy(SEM) also displayed these confirmed *** hydrophobicity values of strains were determined to be between 22.45%and 26.42%.Conclusions:As a result,biofilm formation in cage bird feces originated ESBL positive Escherichia coli isolates was performed for the first time in *** order to present the relation between pathogenicity and biofilm production in animal originated ESBL positive isolates,further studies are required.

Rosemary(Rosmarinus officinalis L.)is an important perennial medicinal and aromatic plant belonging to the Lamiaceae *** is widely produced in Turkey for its oil which can be extracted from the plants when flowers are in *** Turkey,a significant amount of domestic and foreign trade of rosemary is *** 2018-2020,2088 t of rosemary plants were imported,while in the same years 2077 t were *** this study,the performance indexes of a threshing and separating unit designed according to the physicomechanical properties of the rosemary were *** operating parameters of the machine were determined at three different moisture contents and adjusted according to the harvest moisture *** threshing efficiency,work efficiency,power requirement,and specific energy consumption values of the threshing unit were determined,while separating efficiency,work efficiency and specific power consumption of separating unit of the developed system were *** to the study results,the threshing efficiency of the rosemary plant varied between 44.00%and 96.97%.Work efficiency of the thresher varied between 1.18 and 15.34 kg/*** requirements and specific energy consumption of the threshing unit were obtained as 0.19-1.05 kW and 0.02-0.37 kW·h/h,*** the other hand,the separating efficiency of the separating unit for the rosemary plant varied between 44.27%and 85.24%.Maximum and minimum values of work efficiency were found as 0.75 kg/h and 5.52 kg/*** power consumption of the unit ranged from 3.95 to 39.95 kW/kg.

We determined the seismic model of the soil column within a residential project site in Istanbul, Turkey. Specifically, we conducted a refraction seismic survey at 20 locations using a receiver spread with 484.5-Hz vertical geophones at 2-m intervals. We applied nonlinear tomography to first-arrival times to estimate the P-wave velocity-depth profiles and performed Rayleigh-wave inversion to estimate the S-wave velocity-depth profiles down to a depth of 30 m at each of the locations. We then combined the seismic velocities with the geotechnical borehole information regarding the lithology of the soil column and determined the site-specific geotechnical earthquake engineering parameters for the site. Specifically, we computed the maximum soil amplification ratio, maximum surface-bedrock acceleration ratio, depth interval of significant acceleration, maximum soil-rock response ratio, and design spectrum periods TA-TB. We conducted reflection seismic surveys along five line traverses with lengths between 150 and 300 m and delineated landslide failure surfaces within the site. We recorded shot gathers at 2-m intervals along each of the seismic line traverses using a receiver spread with 4 840-Hz vertical geophones at 2-m intervals. We applied nonlinear tomography to first-arrival times to estimate a P-wave velocity-depth model and analyzed the reflected waves to obtain a seismic image of the deep near-surface along each of the line traverses.

AIM: To evaluate baseline foveal disorganisation of retinal inner layers(DRIL) as a prognostic factor in eyes with central retinal artery occlusion(CRAo). METHoDS: Twenty-eight CRAo patients who were followed-up between 2010 and 2016 were retrospectively investigated. Demographic characteristics and detailed ophthalmological examination findings of all patients were recorded. Macular thicknesses(MTs) from 5 separate spots and DRIL were measured with spectral-domain optic coherence tomography(SD-oCT). Correlations between DRIL score and logMAR converted visual acuity(VA), change in VA, patient reference time(RT), number of hyperbaric oxygen therapy(HBoT) sessions, MT and MT change were ***: There was a positive correlation between the DRIL score and the final VA(r=0.787) and a negative correlation with the change in VA(r=-0.763). The RT and MT were closely related to the DRIL score. A negative correlation was found between the number of HBoT sessions and the DRIL score(r=-0.341).CoNCLUSIoN: The DRIL score is a parameter assessed by SD-oCT, which can provide us reliable information regarding the prognosis of visual functions and response to the treatment for CRAo patients at acute phase.

Intrahepatic and peripheral T-cell responses in genotype 1b hepatitis C virus-infected patients with persistently normal and elevated aminotransferase levels

AIM： To evaluate whether the cytokine responses in liver and serum differ in chronic hepatitis C patients with normal and high alanine aminotransferase （ALT） levels. METHoDS： Thirty-three （16 with normal ALT level as group 1 and 17 with elevated ALT level as group 2） patients infected with genotype lb hepatitis C virus （HCV） were examined. Liver infiltrating lymphomononuclear cells （LILMCs） were isolated from liver biopsy by collagenase type 1 and stimulated with phytohemagglutinin and interleukin 2 （IL-2）. IL-10, IL-12, interferon gamma （IFN-γ） and tumor necrosis factor alpha （TNF-α were determined in serum and LILMCs by ELISA. RESULTS： Serum cytokine levels were similar in both groups （P〉0.05）. Stimulated IFN-γ and TNF-α levels in LILMCs were increased in both groups. IL-12 and IL-10 levels stimulated with IL-2 were higher in group 1 than in group 2 （P = 0.023）. Histological activity index （HAI） and stage had a negative correlation with TNF-α and IFN-γ levels in group 2. CoNCLUSIoN： Increased T-helper type 2 （Th2） cytokine response may regress inflammatory and biochemical activity. Progression of histological abnormalities in persons with elevated ALT probably depends on insufficient Th2 cytokine response, which does not balance Th1 cytokine response.
