A Au/Bi4Ti3O12/n-Si structure is fabricated in order to investigate its current voltage （IV） characteristics in a tem.erature range of 300 K-400 K. Obtained I-V data are evaluated by the therm.onic em.ssion （TE） theory. Zero-bias barrier height （Ф0） and ideality factor （n） calculated from.I-V characteristics, are found to be tem.erature-dependent such that ФB0 increases with tem.erature increasing, whereas n decreases. The obtained tem.erature dependence of ФB0 and linearity in ФB0 versus the n plot, together with a lower barrier height and Richardson constant values obtained from.the Richardson plot, indicate that the barrier height of the structure is inhom.geneous in nature. Therefore, I-V characteristics are explained on the basis of Caussian distribution of barrier height.

m.ch has been learned in the past 40 years about the great diversity of the internal structure and geochem.cal com.ositions of Phanerozoic ophiolites, indicating that these on-land fragm.nts of ancient oceanic lithosphere form.d in distinctly different tectonic settings during their igneous evolution. Recent studies in Archean and Proterozoic greenstone belts have shown that the Precam.rian rock record m.y also include exposures of a diverse suite of ophiolite com.lexes as part of craton developm.nt in the early history of the Earth. We review the salient features of the Precam.rian ophiolite record to highlight what has been learned about Precam.rian oceanic spreading system. since the original Penrose definition of ophiolites in 1972. Som. of the diagnostic, characteristic, typical, and rare aspects of ophiolites of all ages are presented in a table in order to help determ.ne if tectonically deform.d and m.tam.phosed sequences in Precam.rian shield areas m.y be considered as ophiolites. The results of this com.arative study are im.ortant in that they enable researchers to m.re realistically characterize allochthonous m.fic/ultram.fic rock sequences as ophiolitic or non-ophiolitic. This approach is m.re determ.nistic in contrast to som. other arbitrary classification schem.s requiring three or four of the Penrose-style ophiolitic units to be present in the Precam.rian record for a specific rock sequence to be considered ophiolitic. Once these tectonic fragm.nts are recognized as rem.ants of ancient oceanic lithosphere, great progress shall be m.de in understanding early Earth history. We discuss the significance and im.lications of the Precam.rian ophiolite record to constrain the m.de and nature of the plate tectonics that operated in deep tim..

Background. The role of oxidative stress has not been fully understood in the aetiopathogenesis of vitiligo in different studies. Aim. We aim.d to investigat e the role of the oxidative stress in the pathogenesis of vitiligo. m.thods. In this study, we exam.ned levels of superoxide dism.tase, glutathione peroxidase, m.londialdehyde and nitric oxide in tissue of 25 patients with generalized vitil igo and 25 healthy controls. Results. Our results revealed that levels of supero xide dism.tase, glutathione peroxidase and m.londialdehyde in tissue were signif icantly increased in patientswith generalized vitiligo (P 0.05). Conclusion. Our results dem.nstrate the presence of an im.alance in the oxidant-antioxidant system.in vitiligo at tissue level and provide further support for a free radical-m.diated dam.ge as an initial p athogenic event in m.lanocyte degeneration in vitiligo.

m.chanical and Antibacterial Properties of Injection m.lded Polypropylene/TiO_2 Nano-Com.osites:Effects of Surface m.dification

Polypropylene （PP）/titanium.dioxide （TiO2） nano-com.osites were prepared by m.lt com.ounding with a twin screw extruder. Nanoparticles were m.dified prior to m.lt m.xing with m.leic anhydride grafted styreneethylene-butylene-styrene （SEBS-g-m.） and silane. The com.osites were injection m.lded and m.chanical tests were applied to obtain tensile strength, elastic m.dulus and im.act strength. Antibacterial efficiency test was applied on the injection m.lded com.osite plaques by viable cell counting technique. The results showed that the com.osites including SEBS-g-m. and silane coated TiO2 gave better m.chanical properties than the com.osites without SEBS-g-m.. Antibacterial efficiency of the com.osites varied according to the dispersion and the concentration of the particles and it was observed that com.osites at low content of TiO2 showed higher antibacterial property due to the better photocatalytic activity of the particles during UV exposure.
