Systems science in the new era: intelligent systems and big data

This study introduces the emergence, research challenges,and future development of intelligent systems and big data(ISBD) and discusses the significance of ISBD to systems science. To this end, an overview of systems science is first presented, followed by the conclusion that the development of artificial intelligence(AI) has promoted the derivation and development of intelligent systems(ISs).

This paper focuses on the performance of equalizer zero-determinant(ZD)strategies in discounted repeated Stackelberg asymmetric games.In the leader-follower adversarial scenario,the strong Stackelberg equilibrium(SSE)deriving from the opponents’best response(BR),is technically the optimal strategy for the leader.However,computing an SSE strategy may be difficult since it needs to solve a mixed-integer program and has exponential complexity in the number of states.To this end,the authors propose an equalizer ZD strategy,which can unilaterally restrict the opponent’s expected utility.The authors first study the existence of an equalizer ZD strategy with one-to-one situations,and analyze an upper bound of its performance with the baseline SSE strategy.Then the authors turn to multi-player models,where there exists one player adopting an equalizer ZD strategy.The authors give bounds of the weighted sum of opponents’s utilities,and compare it with the SSE strategy.Finally,the authors give simulations on unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs)and the moving target defense(MTD)to verify the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

This paper is concerned with the problem of safety stabilization for switched systems where the solvability of the problem under study for individual subsystems is not assumed.A new state-dependent switching strategy with guaranteed dwell-time for switched systems is constructed,and a sufficient condition for absence of Zeno behavior is derived.Also,a novel switched control design method is proposed to simultaneously guarantee the safety of the switched closed-loop system and stabilize the system based on the union of a common barrier function and a single Lyapunov function,which effectively handles the conflict between safety and stability objectives.Finally,two examples are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed design approach.

In this paper,we consider a networked game with coupled constraints and focus on variational Nash equilibrium seeking.For distributed algorithm design,we eliminate the coupled constraints by employing local Lagrangian functions and construct exact penalty terms to attain multipliers'optimal consensus,which yields a set of equilibrium conditions without any coupled constraint and consensus constraint.Moreover,these conditions are only based on strategy and multiplier variables,without auxiliary variables.Then,we present a distributed order-reduced dynamics that updates the strategy and multiplier variables with guaranteed convergence.Compared with many other distributed algorithms,our algorithm contains no auxiliary variable,and therefore,it can save computation and communication.

This paper develops distributed algorithms for solving Sylvester equations. The authors transform solving Sylvester equations into a distributed optimization problem, unifying all eight standard distributed matrix structures. Then the authors propose a distributed algorithm to find the least squares solution and achieve an explicit linear convergence rate. These results are obtained by carefully choosing the step-size of the algorithm, which requires particular information of data and Laplacian matrices. To avoid these centralized quantities, the authors further develop a distributed scaling technique by using local information only. As a result, the proposed distributed algorithm along with the distributed scaling design yields a universal method for solving Sylvester equations over a multi-agent network with the constant step-size freely chosen from configurable intervals. Finally, the authors provide three examples to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms.

Distributed Nash equilibrium seeking of aggregative games is investigated and a continuous-time algorithm is proposed.The algorithm is designed by virtue of projected gradient play dynamics and aggregation tracking dynamics,and is applicable to games with constrained strategy sets and weight-balanced communication graphs.The key feature of our method is that the proposed projected dynamics achieves exponential convergence,whereas such convergence results are only obtained for non-projected dynamics in existing works on distributed optimization and equilibrium seeking.Numerical examples illustrate the effectiveness of our methods.

This paper considers distributed state estimation of continuous-ime linear system monitored by a network of multiple sen-sors.Each sensor can only acess lcall parial measurement ouput of the system and efecively communicates with its neighbors to cooperatively achieve the asymptotic estimation of the target full system state.For a constrcive design,we shall incorporate the concept of system immersions and propose a class of distrbuted tracking observers for the problem under a reasonable condition of the loala joint obervailit.Morecover,as a dirct aplication of the proposed observer design,we further present an interesting leader fllowing consensus design for muti agent system.
