Modeling method for SSC prediction in pomelo using Vis-NIRS with wavelength selection and latent variable updating

The aim of this study was in-line,rapid,and non-destructive detection for soluble solid content(SSC)in pomelos using visible and near-infrared spectroscopy(Vis-NIRS).However,the large size and thick rind of pomelo affect the stability of spectral acquisition and the biological variabilities affect the robustness of models.Given these issues,in this study,an efficient prototype in-line detection system in transmittance mode was designed and evaluated in comparison with an off-line detection system.Data from the years 2019 and 2020 were used for modeling and the external validation data were obtained by the inline detection system in 2021.The wavelength selection methods of changeable size moving window(CSMW),random frog(RF),and competitive adaptive reweighted sampling(CARS)were used to improve the prediction accuracy of partial least squares regression(PLSR)models.The best performance of internal prediction was obtained by CARS-PLSR and the determination coefficient of prediction(),root mean square error of prediction(RMSEP),and residual predictive deviation(RPD)were 0.958,0.204%,and 4.821,respectively.However,all models obtained large prediction biases in external validation.The latent variable updating(LVU)method was proposed to update models and improve the performance in external validation.Ten samples from the external validation set were randomly selected to update the models.Compared with the recalibration method,LVU could effectively modify the original models which matched the SSC range of the external validation set.The CSMW-PLSR models were more robust in external validations.The off-line model with LVU performed best with a root mean square error of validation(RMSEV)of 0.599%and the in-line model with recalibration obtained RMSEV of 0.864%.These results demonstrated the application potential of the transmittance Vis-NIRS for in-line rapid prediction of SSC in pomelos and the modeling and updating methods could be applied to samples with biological variabilities.

Intelligent Fault Diagnosis Method of Rolling Bearings Based on Transfer Residual Swin Transformer with Shifted Windows

Due to their robust learning and expression ability for complex features,the deep learning(DL)model plays a vital role in bearing fault diagnosis.However,since there are fewer labeled samples in fault diagnosis,the depth of DL models in fault diagnosis is generally shallower than that of DL models in other fields,which limits the diagnostic performance.To solve this problem,a novel transfer residual Swin Transformer(RST)is proposed for rolling bearings in this paper.RST has 24 residual self-attention layers,which use the hierarchical design and the shifted window-based residual self-attention.Combined with transfer learning techniques,the transfer RST model uses pre-trained parameters from ImageNet.A new end-to-end method for fault diagnosis based on deep transfer RST is proposed.Firstly,wavelet transform transforms the vibration signal into a wavelet time-frequency diagram.The signal’s time-frequency domain representation can be represented simultaneously.Secondly,the wavelet time-frequency diagram is the input of the RST model to obtain the fault type.Finally,our method is verified on public and self-built datasets.Experimental results show the superior performance of our method by comparing it with a shallow neural network.

Co-incorporation of Chinese milk vetch(Astragalus sinicus L.)and chemical fertilizers alters microbial functional genes supporting short-time scale positive nitrogen priming effects in paddy soils

Nitrogen(N)priming is a microbially mediated biochemical process as affected by different incorporation practices.However,little information is known about the microbial mechanisms driving the response of N priming to co-operation of Chinese milk vetch(CMV,Astragalus sinicus L.)and different rates of chemical fertilizers in paddy soils in South China.Here,an anaerobic incubation experiment was conducted to study N priming effects(PE)and their relationships with soil microbial functional genes after CMV incorporation alone(M),co-incorporation of CMV with 100%(normal dosage)chemical fertilizers(MC100),and co-incorporation of CMV with 80% chemical fertilizers(MC80).Co-incorporation of CMV and chemical fertilizers enhanced the short-time scale(the first 20 d of incubation)positive PE of N,while no significant differences existed among the three treatments on day 60 or 90 of incubation(P>0.05).Compared with the M treatment,gross priming effect(GPE)in the MC100 and MC80 treatments significantly increased by 34.0% and 31.3%,respectively,and net priming effect(NPE)increased by 47.7% and 47.8%,respectively,during the first 20 d of incubation(P<0.05).This was likely attributed to soil nutrient availability and added substrate quality.The MC100 and MC80 treatments increased the gdhA gene abundance by 5.0% and 9.8%,increased the gdh2 gene abundance by 12.7% and 45.7%,and increased the nasB gene abundance by 9.5% and 41.4%,respectively,in comparison with the M treatment on day 20 of incubation.Correlation analyses indicated that soil microbial functional genes involved in N mineralization(gdhA and gdh2),assimilatory nitrate reduction(nasB),and nitrification(amoB)were significantly correlated with N priming under different incorporation practices during the incubation period(P<0.05).Thus,co-incorporation of CMV and chemical fertilizers can regulate soil microbial community functional gene structure,which may accelerate mineralization and assimilatory nitrate reduction and inhibit nitrification,thereby increasing the short-term

In the time of Internet of Things(IoT),alternating current electroluminescence(ACEL)has unique advantages in the fields of smart display and human–computer interaction.However,their reliance on external high-voltage AC power supplies poses challenges in terms of wearability and limits their practical application.This paper proposed an innovative scheme for preparing a feather triboelectric nanogenerator(F-TENG)using recyclable and environmentally friendly material.The highest open-circuit voltage,short-circuit current,and transferred charge of SF6-treated F-TENGs can reach 449 V,63μA,and 152 nC,which enables easy lighting of BaTiO_(3)^(-)doped ACEL devices.Using a human electrical potential,a single-electrode F-TENG is combined with ACEL device for self-powered fingerprint recognition display.These works achieve self-powered flexible wearable ACEL devices,which are not only efficient and portable but also have good application prospects in the human–computer interaction,functional displays,and wearable electronic devices.

Recent Advances in Assembly of Complex Plant Genomes

Over the past 20 years,tremendous advances in sequencing technologies and computational algorithms have spurred plant genomic research into a thriving era with hundreds of genomes decoded already,ranging from those of nonvascular plants to those of flowering plants.However,complex plant genome assembly is still challenging and remains difficult to fully resolve with conventional sequencing and assembly methods due to high heterozygosity,highly repetitive sequences,or high ploidy characteristics of complex genomes.Herein,we summarize the challenges of and advances in complex plant genome assembly,including feasible experimental strategies,upgrades to sequencing technology,existing assembly methods,and different phasing algorithms.Moreover,we list actual cases of complex genome projects for readers to refer to and draw upon to solve future problems related to complex genomes.Finally,we expect that the accurate,gapless,telomere-totelomere,and fully phased assembly of complex plant genomes could soon become routine.

Phosphorus speciation,transformation and benthic processes with implications for environmental impacts in the aquaculture area of Rushan Bay

Phosphorus(P)is an essential nutrient for many organisms in the ocean,which plays a central role in the stability of ecosystems and the evolution of the environment.The distribution,occurrence and source-sink process of P in offshore waters are highly influenced by mariculture activities.P transformation in water-sediment system is the key process in P cycling,however,the mechanism is poorly documented in the coastal sea which is influenced by human activities.Based on the comprehensive surveys in the adjacent waters outside Rushan Bay in May,July and August 2014 and February 2015,the form and transformation of P in the suspended particulate matter(SPM)and surface sediment were analyzed.The results showed that contents of total P,authigenic P and organic P of SPM increased with the increase in distance from the shoreline off Rushan Bay,and the detrital-P decreased.The partition coefficient of P between water and SPM was related to the chemical activity of different forms of P,and a higher reactivity of inorganic P associated with SPM was observed.Hypoxia induced by mariculture changes the distribution and morphological composition of P in SPM and sediment in this typical aquaculture area,which can result in a conversion of sink to source of P in the sediment,thereby having a significant impact on the regional nutrient budget and associated with eutrophication.

Dietary folic acid addition reduces abdominal fat deposition mediated by alterations in gut microbiota and SCFA production in broilers

Intensive selective breeding for high growth rate and body weight cause excess abdominal fat in broilers.Gut microbiota and folic acid were reported to regulate lipid metabolism.A total of 210 one-day-old broilers were divided into the control(folic acid at 1.3 mg/kg)and folic acid groups(folic acid at 13 mg/kg)to illustrate the effects of folic acid on growth performance,abdominal fat deposition,and gut microbiota,and the experiment lasted 28 d.Results revealed that dietary folic acid addition decreased abdominal fat percentage(P<0.05)and down-regulated genes expression related to cell proliferation and differentiation in abdominal fat including IGF1,EGF,C/EBPα,PPARγ,PLIN1,FABP4 and PCNA(P<0.05).Folic acid addition decreased caecal Firmicutes-to-Bacteroidetes ratio(P<0.01)and increased the proportions of Alistipes,Oscillospira,Ruminococcus,Clostridium,Dehalobacterium and Parabacteroides(P<0.05).Caecal acetic acid,and propionic acid contents were found to be higher under folic acid treatment(P<0.05),which were negatively related to genes expression associated with adipocyte proliferation and differentiation(P<0.05).Ruminococcus was positively correlated with caecal acetic acid content,and the same phenomenon was detected between propionic acid and Oscillospira and Ruminococcus(P<0.05).Acetic acid and Oscillospira were identified to be negatively associated with abdominal fat percentage(P<0.05).In conclusion,our data demonstrated that dietary supplementation of folic acid reduced fat deposition in broilers by inhibiting abdominal adipocyte proliferation and differentiation,which might be mediated by changes in gut microbiota and short chain fatty acid production.

Genomic Variations in the Tea Leafhopper Reveal the Basis of Its Adaptive Evolution

Tea green leafhopper(TGL),Empoasca onukii,is of biological and economic interest.Despite numerous studies,the mechanisms underlying its adaptation and evolution remain enigmatic.Here,we use previously untapped genome and population genetics approaches to examine how the pest adapted to different environmental variables and thus has expanded geographically.We complete a chromosome-level assembly and annotation of the E.onukii genome,showing notable expansions of gene families associated with adaptation to chemoreception and detoxification.Genomic signals indicating balancing selection highlight metabolic pathways involved in adaptation to a wide range of tea varieties grown across ecologically diverse regions.Patterns of genetic variations among 54 E.onukii samples unveil the population structure and evolutionary history across different tea-growing regions in China.Our results demonstrate that the genomic changes in key pathways,including those linked to metabolism,circadian rhythms,and immune system functions,may underlie the successful spread and adaptation of E.onukii.This work highlights the genetic and molecular basis underlying the evolutionary success of a species with broad economic impacts,and provides insights into insect adaptation to host plants,which will ultimately facilitate more sustainable pest management.

热冲击会导致飞机蒙皮表面冰层局部碎裂和脱粘,针对目前无法有效测量冰层脱粘程度的问题,提出采用非接触超声脉冲回波技术对冰层脱粘程度进行评估。首先,采用PZFlex软件建立了包含超声传感器、飞机蒙皮与冰层的二维模型,研究了冰层内部裂缝及冰/蒙皮界面脱粘区域尺寸对冰层超声脉冲回波信号影响规律,初步获得了冰层局部脱粘超声评估方法;其次,基于LabVIEW软件搭建了由加热控制模块、温度采集模块、超声信号发生及采集模块组成的地面冷环境实验平台,通过电加热膜产生热冲击造成冰层局部区域脱粘,验证了提出的冰层局部脱粘超声评估方法的可行性。在电加热功率密度为1.6 W/cm2的作用下,铝板-冰层界面温度由-24℃升至-4℃时,探测区域内脱粘面积达到62.8%以上。结果表明,采用非接触式超声脉冲回波技术可以有效评估探测区域内冰层局部脱粘程度。该方法可用于评估飞机除冰系统工作时冰层脱粘面积,为除冰控制系统提供可靠状态信息。
