Introduction: The benefit of intermittent p.eumatic comp.ession (Ip.) for the p.evention of venous thromboembolism and lymp.edema has been well established in the literature. Recent evidence suggests that Ip. p.ays a beneficial role in circulation, hemodynamic p.rip.eral p.mp. intravascular coagulation and arterial skin p.rfusion. Desp.te such evidence, the use of Ip. in the treatment of resistant and chronic venous leg ulcers, has received little attention in p.actice. Case p.esentation: We would like to rep.rt the case of successfully treated chronic and bilateral venous leg ulcer in an obese p.tient with Ip. ap.lication and a review of the literature. Results: The use of Ip. as an adjuvant therap. to the traditional multilayered comp.ession therap. p.rmitted significant resolution of the ulcers, reduced secondary infection incidence and p.evented ulcer recurrence. Conclusion: In obese, minimally mobile p.tients with venous ulcers not resp.nding to the traditional multilayered comp.ession therap. ap.lication of Ip., an adjuvant therap. is recommended.

Stress hormonal analysis in elite soccer p.ayers during a season

p.rp.se： The p.rp.se of this study was to evaluate the changes in some hormonal p.rameters （cortisol, testosterone, ratio of testosterone/cortisol （T/C）） in p.ofessional soccer p.ayers during a season. Methods： Fifteen p.ofessional p.ayers from a soccer club of the first division of the Greek soccer league p.rticip.ted. All sp.rt medical examinations were conducted four times： before the re-building p.riod, p.st re-building p.riod, mid-season, and after finishing the comp.tition p.ase. Results： For testosterone, significant differences were observed between the end season and p.st re-building p.riod （11.6%; p.〈 0.05） and mid-season （ 12.1%; p.〈 0.05）. The cortisol concentration increased at mid-season by ap.roximately 23%, and this change differed significantly from all other measurements for this hormone. The T/C ratio increased at the p.st re-building p.riod and decreased at the middle of the season. Conclusion： These hormones and their ratios could be used as stress and recovery state indicators. Coaches can use these p.rameters in combination with other indicators to op.imize workloads, and to avoid overreaching and overtraining.
