Real-space observation on standing configurations of phenylacetylene on Cu(111) by scanning probe microscopy

The adsorption configurations of molecules adsorbed on substrates can significantly affect their physical and chemical properties. A standing configuration can be difficult to determine by traditional techniques, such as scanning tunneling microscopy(STM) due to the superposition of electronic states. In this paper, we report the real-space observation of the standing adsorption configuration of phenylacetylene on Cu(111) by non-contact atomic force microscopy(nc-AFM).Deposition of phenylacetylene at 25 K shows featureless bright spots in STM images. Using nc-AFM, the line features representing the C–H and C–C bonds in benzene rings are evident, which implies a standing adsorption configuration. Further density functional theory(DFT) calculations reveal multiple optimized adsorption configurations with phenylacetylene breaking its acetylenic bond and forming C–Cu bond(s) with the underlying copper atoms, and hence stand on the *** comparing the nc-AFM simulations with the experimental observation, we identify the standing adsorption configuration of phenylacetylene on Cu(111). Our work demonstrates an application of combining nc-AFM measurements and DFT calculations to the study of standing molecules on substrates, which enriches our knowledge of the adsorption behaviors of small molecules on solid surfaces at low temperatures.

BackgroundSeroprevalence studies across various countries can contribute to achieving the elimination target for measles and ***,in the Mainland of China,the concept of herd immunity remains unclear due to the lack of a nationwide *** systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted by retrieving literature reporting the seroprevalence of measles and rubella published between 2012 and *** pooled positive rates and estimated geometric mean concentrations(GMCs)of measles and rubella immunoglobulin G antibodies were *** study analysed 135 studies on measles and 77 on rubella,including data from 368,023 and 177,422 healthy individuals,*** 2010 and 2022,the overall pooled positive rates for measles and rubella antibodies were 88.8%and 79.91%,*** age-specific susceptibility analysis showed that infants aged<1 year had the lowest pooled positive *** age groups had a roughly U-shaped distribution,with relatively higher positive rates and GMC of measles and rubella antibodies in young children and older age ***,the positive rates for both measles and rubella antibodies fell below the elimination threshold in almost all age groups other than young children aged 1–4 years,especially in recent *** addition,antibody positivity rates varied by geographical region and decreased with economic *** findings provide preliminary insights into herd immunity for measles and rubella,highlighting the challenges to achieving their elimination in China.

The impact of the coupling relationship between projectile size and yarn dimension on the ballistic performance of plain weave fabric

This study focuses on the electrical properties and microstructure of polypropylene(PP)-based blends used for cable insulation in nuclear power plants(NPPs).The PP-based blend,comprising isotactic PP and propylene-based elastomer(PBE)at concentrations ranging from 0 to 50 wt%,underwent a melt blending process and subsequent cobalt-60 gamma-ray irradiation with doses ranging from 0 to 250 *** conductivity,trap distribution,and alternating(AC)breakdown strength were chosen to assess the insulation *** results indicate that the addition of PBE significantly improves the electrical properties of PP under *** PP,the electrical conductivity increased with irradiation,whereas the trap depth and breakdown strength decreased ***,for the blend,these changes initially exhibit opposite *** the irradiation was increased to 250 kGy,the AC breakdown strength of the blend improved by more than 21%compared to that of *** physical and chemical structures of the samples were investigated to explore the improvement *** results offer insights into the design of new cable-insulation materials suitable for NPPs.

Dear Editor,This letter deals with the stabilization problem of nonlinear stochastic systems via self-triggered impulsive control(STIC), where the timing of impulsive control actions is not dependent on continuous state monitoring. In contrast to the existing self-triggered control method, novel self-triggered mechanism(STM) is proposed by incorporating a waiting time for stabilizing impulses. This allows for direct prediction of the next impulsive instant.
