Evaluation of the Impact of Observations on Blended Sea Surface Winds in a Two-Dimensional Variational Scheme Using Degrees of Freedom

This paper presents an evaluation of the observational impacts on blended sea surface winds from a two- dimensional variational data assimilation （2D-Var） scheme. We begin by briefly introducing the analysis sensitivity with respect to observations in variational data assimilation systems and its relationship with the degrees of freedom for signal （DFS）, and then the DFS concept is applied to the 2D-Var sea surface wind blending scheme. Two meth- ods, a priori and a posteriori, are used to estimate the DFS of the zonal （u） and meridional （v） components of winds in the 2D-Var blending scheme. The a posteriori method can obtain almost the same results as the a priori method. Because only by-products of the blending scheme are used for the a posteriori method, the computation time is re- duced significantly. The magnitude of the DFS is critically related to the observational and background error statistics. Changing the observational and background error variances can affect the DFS value. Because the observation error variances are assumed to be uniform, the observational influence at each observational location is related to the background error variance, and the observations located at the place where there are larger background error variances have larger influences. The average observational influence of u and v with respect to the analysis is about 40%, implying that the background influence with respect to the analysis is about 60%.

The Serum Exosome Derived MicroRNA-135a,-193b, and-384 Were Potential Alzheimer's Disease Biomarkers

Objective MicroRNAs （miRs） are attractive molecules to be considered as one of the blood-based biomarkers for neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer＇s disease （AD）. The goal of this study was to explore their potential value as biomarkers for the diagnosis of *** The expression levels of exosomal miR-135a, -193b, and -384 in the serum from mild cognitive impairment （MCI）, dementia of Alzheimer-type （DAT）, Parkinson＇s disease with dementia （PDD）, and vascular dementia （VaD） patients were measured with a real-time quantitative reverse transcriptase PCR （qRT-PCR） *** Both serum exosome miR-135a and miR-384 were up-regulated while miR-193b was down-regulated in serum of AD patients compared with that of normal controls. Exosome miR-384 was the best among the three miRs to discriminate AD, VaD, and PDD. Using the cut-off value could better interpret these laboratory test results than reference intervals in the AD diagnosis. ROC curve showed that the combination of miR-135a, -193b, and -384 was proved to be better than a particular one for early AD *** Our results indicated that the exosomal miRs in the serum were not only potential biomarker of AD early diagnosis, but might also provide novel insights into the screen and prevention of the disease.

Characterization of the chemical constituents of Jie-Geng-Tang and the metabolites in the serums and lungs of mice after oral administration by LC-Q-TOF-MS

Jie-Geng-Tang(JGT),a traditional formula,is employed in the treatment of sore throat and cough and comprises Platycodonis Radix and Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma in the ratio 1:*** previous study demonstrated that JGT protected mice from ***-induced acute lung injury(ALI).Five constituents of JGT showed antibacterial activities against *** in ***,the potential effective constituents of JGT in vivo were still *** this study,the chemical constituents of JGT were identified by liquid chromatography with quadrupole time-of-flight spectrometry(LC-Q-TOF-MS).A total of 96 constituents were identified or assumed,including seven organic acids,45 flavonoids,36 triterpene saponins,and eight compounds of other *** structures of 31 of the constituents were confirmed by comparing them with corresponding authentic ***,15 prototypes and 49 metabolites were deduced in the serums of mice,24 prototypes and 47 metabolites were deduced in the lungs of mice after the oral administration of *** types of constituents,namely organic acids,flavonoids,and triterpene saponins,could be absorbed into the ***,flavonoids and triterpene saponins were more likely distributed in the lung than in the *** the best of our knowledge,this is the first report on the systematic metabolites profile of JGT in *** results reported were beneficial to the elucidation of the effective material basis of JGT.

Mo-modified Pd/Al_2O_3 catalysts for benzene catalytic combustion

Mo-modified Pd/Al2O3catalysts were prepared by an impregnation method and tested for the catalytic combustion of benzene. The catalysts were characterized by N2 isothermal adsorption, X-ray diffraction（XRD）, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy（XPS）, temperatureprogrammed desorption of NH3（NH3-TPD）, H2temperature-programmed reduction（H2-TPR）, and high-angle annular dark-field scanning transmission electron microscopy（HAADF-STEM）. The results showed that the addition of Mo effectively improved the activity and stability of the Pd/Al2O3catalyst by increasing the dispersion of Pd active components, changing the partial oxidation state of palladium and increasing the oxygen species concentration on the surface of catalyst. In the case of the Pd-Mo/Al2O3catalyst,benzene conversion of 90% was obtained at temperatures as low as 190°C, which was 45°C lower than that for similar performance with the Pd/Al2O3catalyst. Moreover, the 1.0% Pd-5% Mo/Al2O3catalyst was more active than the 2.0% Pd/Al2O3catalyst. It was concluded that Pd and Mo have a synergistic effect in benzene catalytic combustion.

Ovarian endometrioma（OE）, also known as “chocolate cysts,” is a cystic mass that develops in the ovaries due to endometriosis and is a common gynecological condition characterized by the growth of endometrial tissue outside the uterus, leading to symptoms such as dysmenorrhea, pelvic pain, and infertility. However, the precise molecular and cellular mechanisms driving this pathophysiology remain largely unknown, posing challenges for diagnosis and treatment. Here, we employed integrated single-cell transcriptomic profiling of over 52,000 individual cells from endometrial tissues of OE patients and healthy donors and identified twelve major cell populations. We identified notable alterations in cell type-specific proportions and molecular signatures associated with OE. Notably, the activation of IGFBP5+macrophages with pro-inflammatory properties, NK cell exhaustion, and aberrant proliferation of IQCG+and KLF2+epithelium are key features and may be the potential mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis of OE. Collectively, our data contribute to a better understanding of OE at the single cell level and may pave the way for the development of novel therapeutic strategies.

Influence of impulse waves generated by rocky landslides on the pressure exerted on bank slopes

Constructing Bi_(2)WO_(6)-decorated TiO_(2) composite films for photocathodic protection of 304 stainless steel

Bi_(2)WO_(6) nanoplate/TiO_(2) nanowire and Bi_(2)WO_(6) nanoflower/TiO_(2) nanowire composite films were successfully prepared using a hydrothermal *** results show that the light absorption for Bi_(2)WO_(6)/TiO_(2) composite films is extended to the visible region after Bi_(2)WO_(6) nanoplates and nanoflowers are assembled onto TiO_(2) ***,Bi_(2)WO_(6) nanoflower/TiO_(2) nano wire composite film exhibits a better absorption property compared to Bi_(2)WO_(6) nanoplate/TiO_(2) nanowire film,which is mainly ascribed to the narrower bandgap of Bi_(2)WO_(6) nanoflower compared to that of Bi_(2)WO_(6) *** photocurrent density for Bi_(2)WO_(6) nanoflower/TiO_(2) nanowire and Bi_(2)WO_(6) nanoplate/TiO_(2) nanowire composite films can reach 95 and 62.5 μA cm-2,respectively,which are much higher than that obtained for a pure TiO_(2) nanowire film(25 μA cm-2).Meanwhile,under illumination,the pure TiO_(2) nanowire,Bi_(2)WO_(6) nanoplate/TiO_(2) nanowire and Bi_(2)WO_(6) nanoflower/TiO_(2) nanowire films can reduce the potential of the coupled 304 stainless steel in 3.5 wt.%NaCl solution by 299,719 and 739 mV,***,Bi_(2)WO_(6) nanoflower/TiO_(2) nanowire film is found to provide the best effective photocathodic protection for 304 stainless *** work not only provides an example of shape-dependent photocathodic protection based on Bi_(2)WO_(6) but also opens up new possibilities to design an ideal microstructure on the basis of semiconductor materials for future applications of photocathodic protection.
